    Its going to be a Magical season for WVU... I know the opponents on the schedule are tougher this season, but when you actually dive deeper into the scheduling details, there are some major advantages for WVU, esp vs tougher opponents.
    1. PSU at Home -- First game of the season for a PSU team with 3 new coordinators, a fresh OL & DB, and younger at a few position groups then they were last season.
    2. Kansas at Home. They do play Illinois, which should be a decent team this year, two weeks before playing WVU. So at least they have 1 tougher P4 opponent which will require them to show more of their new offense under Grimes, compared to 2022 when they didnt have a quality opponent before traveling to Morgantown.
    3. WVU has a bye week before traveling to play OkieSt. However OkieSt has a very tough road game the week prior to hosting WVU, playing at KState. Which will likely be a later televised game, and a tough physical game for both. Giving them less time to recover & prepare for WVU.
    4. KState at Home. This is also KState's second road game in a row. Traveling to Colorado the week prior to traveling to Morgantown. History shows us teams usually play below their seasonal averages when they have 2 road games in a row(for the second road game), esp when the away team travels east.
    5. IowaSt at Home
    6. UCF at Home. This is also UCF's second road game in a row. Traveling to AriState the week prior to traveling to Morgantown in middle of Nov, which will be a cold weather game for a Southern team that prefers the heat.
    The two games where WVU does not really have any scheduling advantage is @ Arizona & @ Texas Tech.
    Due to WVU's SoS, I believe there is a potential path for WVU to miss out on playing in the BIG12 title game, but still make the CFP as a #11 or #12 seed. Been saying this for a while now, long before Andy's "Projection" came out. If WVU beats PSU, which continues to have a good season, and WVU has 1 or 2 close conference losses, I think they'll make the CFP, but could miss out on BIG12 title due to one of the head to head matchup losses. Obviously I hope they play in both and get a bye, but either way I think WVU has a serious shot at having a fantastic season if...... IF they remain healthy.
    I think most WVU fans are just ecstatic to see this team get back to OUR BRAND of football. ie Hard Nosed players, a True Dual Threat QB, Elite Speed & Shiftiness at Skillset positions, Solid Fundamentals, Creative Schemes, and a close knit team that strains & fights for each other. Brown & Staff have done a fantastic job recruiting the caliber & quality of player fans are proud to support as Mountaineers. As long as we hit the portal after this season to land some high impact 2OLs, 2-3DTs, 2 DEs, 3DBs I actually think with as much as we'll have returning again next season with Nicco leading, we can also be in serious contention again next season and esp in 2026... Just have to leverage the portal to fill a few spots. Very well could be the start of a new era in Morgantown.

    I truly believe that the BIG12 is the most interesting and exciting conference in college football because of the parity of the teams. Literally, every single game is very relevant in the bid for a championship.

      As a die hard Nittany Lions 🦁 fan, you do realize that the garbage big 12 is about to be the garbage pac 12, because the big ten and SEC are going to be the only conferences very soon!!! The little stepchildren Oregon and USC and UCLA and Washington couldn't keep the conference together, you are next!!!!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled

      The B1G is Ohio State vs Michigan on Nov 30, and then all the other regional schools they beat up on to get there. We know the only matchup that matters before the season starts. And it doesn’t matter what Minnesota, Rutgers, Purdue, Maryland, or anybody else does. I think that was the original point.

      PFF College Preseason Top 25 ranks WVU #25 and PSU #10. In addition to WVU, five other Big XII teams were ranked in their Top 25 (Arizona, Utah, Kansas State, OkSU and Kansas). Love WVU's home schedule this season. Regardless of the outcome, PSU fans should root heavily for WVU in its remaining games. Why? SOS matters when it comes to playoffs.

    Definitely agree on needing tie breakers. Crazy that there are a couple realistic options for three undefeated teams, which would mean that an undefeated would be coin flipped out of an opportunity.

    the WVU schedule is tough, but as we know, no team is head and shoulders above the rest..so if the coaching, schemes and home field advantage can work for us, there is a chance to do something special.

    • @ryansheard8092
      @ryansheard8092 27 днів тому

      @WV-USAF WV doesn't have even CLOSE to elite talent to compete with the top 20 programs. Doesn't mean they won't go to a bowl, but don't fool yourself into thinking they are anywhere near a playoff team.

    • @WV-USAF
      @WV-USAF 27 днів тому

      @ryansheard8092 not sure who your team is, but I definitely disagree with the top 20 talent statement.... WVU may not be a top 10 type team at moment, but easily top 20... the team was ranked at end of last season, and brings majority of team back..with a strong portal additions. Not saying we will win a national championship, but definitely disagree with your top 20 statement. The team could contend for Big 12 championship..thats why i said things have to fall the right way.

    • @ryansheard8092
      @ryansheard8092 27 днів тому

      @WV-USAF I'm not saying it's the end all be all, but the majority of their starting 22 players are not guys that would start at most of the top 15-20 programs. They don't have the talent or depth of talent of the top 1/2 of the SEC and BIG schools.
      Not saying for the Big12 they aren't good, but compared to the BIG & SEC, they aren't close from a talent perspective. Most likely never will be. It's not about who my team is as much as it is understanding the CFB landscape and what it takes to be a top program.
      I hate seeing fan bases of programs like WV, VT, UNC, etc trick themselves into believing their program has a chance at being great and then get pissed at the coaches when they are an 8-4 to 9-3 (at best) team. WV is an 8-4 to 9-3 program and that's vs inferior Big12 competition. Put them in the BIG or SEC and they are a 5-6 to 7-5 type talent program.

    • @WV-USAF
      @WV-USAF 27 днів тому +1

      @ryansheard8092 my initial post about anything could happen was related to the Big 12 schedule and possible Big12 championship for WVU, but now that you mention SEC and BIG 10 talent and fans of "lesser" programs like UNC, VT, WVU basically having wishful thinking related to their programs having the ability to reach the top of their respective sport is interesting. I acknowledge it would be difficult to win multiple games in playoffs against teams that get all the 4 and 5 stars, but I also know that it could happen. No rose colored glasses or expectations, but just facts. Athletes are Athletes, It's why the game is played.

    This season will come down to two things for the Mountaineers. 1) Defense (esp the secondary). 2) Mitigating offensive turnovers (esp from Greene assuming he passes more than last year). If they can stay healthy and accomplish these two things, they have a legitimate chance at making the playoffs in the new format.

      @@Trick-No-Good Yes I’m well aware correct. He also didnt pass much and when he did they were often short safe passes (also was very lucky a few times and shouldve had probably 7 or 8 ints looking back at film). Im saying this year we need to see him pass more, make tougher throws, take on higher risk, be more of a downfield threat with his arm. Be more a true dual threat QB. Because I think he is more 60-40 run-pass threat. If he can flip that this year and not cause turnovers with the heavier passing load we’ll be good

    Last year they were better than most of the bottom half of the league and likely will be again this year. Unfortunately, this year they only play 3 games against the bottom half. They play twice as many games against top half as KU, Arizona, and OSU. Utah is the only top half team they miss.

    The ACC has way better QBs than the B10, with exception of Gabriel, it’s not even close.
