I just bought a Scan n Cut and can't wait for it to arrive. I own a Cricut and love it, but trying to compare the two is impossible, they do different things. Here's an example that might work....comparing an oven and a stove. They do different things! You use both in the kitchen but they served a different purpose.
Purchased the SDX 225 bundle for $600+. Came with feeder roller. Took a 2-day class last month with Julie Balzer. This machine is amazing. Definitely an upgraded experience for me, a newbie who only started crafting about 6-months ago. 🤗
I have the first one cm550;and it does cut fabric, foam, cardboard, vinyl and lots of different designs. Only transfer files that you use canvas software. Lots of learning.
Not to take anything away from Maymay, but the best part of the video was your granddaughter Babies are the best.and thanks for the video. I have a scan n cut arriving today!
Hi Maymay and Vinnie! I fact that I have difficulty stamping and cutting out stamps (I shake) is the reason I don’t have many, but I am thinking after watching you and Ken, I might feel differently if I had a scan and cut! Thank you this second demonstration! Your Grandbaby Addy is so beautiful! Sincerely Katz Baugh
Amen to that. There are so many different options and machines available today. Each of use need to evaluate what type of crafting we do and how comfortable we are with the software options of each machine... Narrow down what you do and go from there. Maymay is correct, it really does depend on what you are doing.
Hi Maymay yep I'm on my way to get in debt, LOL! Anyway watched your video and I'm sold. That's what I love about you; you test these expensive gadgets to your subscribes and that helps all of us. As you know the craft world can get pricey. The dies from stampin up are now $27 to $30 dlls ouch and you know we want the stamps too so we're talking about $50 and above. I also like the fact that you know how to answer people about what they are looking for and what suits them best, as for me I'm a card maker so that makes me a stamper and this machine would be exactly what I'm looking for. I had been researching and thank goodness you made a video and yep this is the one for me. I still have my oldie but goodie cricut explorer and I use it 99% I'm so pleased with it; its 9yrs old and still kicking, LOL. I do stamp a lot with different stamps I need a cutter that can do that for me. Question does it flip the image? Other than that my hats of to you girl in thanking you for all you do. Hubby kiss that lady she's unique and also love your scripture discussions. May God bless you, protect you, anoint you with prosperity as you are touching each and one of us with the word ang knowledge. Amen! Greatly appreciate you!!!!!!!
I JUST got this today. Running my “get started” project. My first machine. I’d been lurking but undecided. Your unboxing the other day helped me FINALLY make up my mind. I got mine from HSN at the $349 price.
Thank you so much. I watched a couple of your videos and decided to buy this machine. I love it. I’m a card maker. I had the old Cricut Expression and a Zing prior to this. I don’t need a laptop, scanner, and printer anymore - just the scan n cut dx.
This was so great to have to refer to. I got this machine for Christmas. I was cutting stamped images in no time thanks to you and this video. Would have taken me forever otherwise! I'm off to watch the unboxing videlo.! Thanks for all you do.
Scrappingpinklady Find Julie Fa-Fan Balzer, she is a Rep for Brother SNC. She has many tutorials for the SNC2 and the DX. And yes you can multiply designs by increasing the number to be cut. Also if the design has many squares popping up the design has to be grouped.
Have a question.. I just bought this machine two days ago.. when I tried to cut out my stamped images it literally cut around my piece of cardstock which caused it to cut almost all the way thru the mat. Now i used the blade that came with the machine and I follow the same steps that you just showed me so I can’t imagine what I could’ve done wrong do you have any suggestions or ideas
HI Maymay, I was watching a replay of this and the one that did not cut out, I was watching the blade and I think what happened was when the blade did a"test" of how thick the paper was I saw it went to the mat and tested because the paper was cut crooked at the top where it was testing, if that makes sense? the next cut it was actually testing on the paper. Watch replay and I think you can see it. Hope that helps. Thank you for doing this for us. Love it!
Lovely tutorial video. Just what is that I need to know how to use tools because Brother doesn't include tutorials. I bought a CM300 machine. I use to make model railway things like window frames etc. Most importantly you put a lovely subtitles for the deaf people - thank you so much. I am surprised my machine doesn't include pens to draw trial lines. Anyway it is much better machine than vinyl cutters I used to have at work, now I am retired and stuck at home with lockdown still in force.
Hello thinking of buying one. Just curious since it’s been a few months. I see a lot of bad reviews that the mat will not load anymore. Are you still enjoying this model. I don’t have one so I would not be able to compare.
I am a card maker who spends a fortune buying matching dies with the stamp sets. I heard you say if you had a choice of 1 machine it would be the MAKER. If all I want to do it cut out stamped images out, should I get the MAKER or Scan-n-cut?
Maymay, can you do a video on all the different extra supplies you need for the ScanNCut DX please. My husband got me one for my birthday in May, and I love it, but want to do embossing with foil, and anything else, but don’t know about it. I hope that makes sense❤️
There is a foil kit for the DX. There are UA-cam videos on that by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, a Brother rep. I don’t think Maymay has done a video on the kit. You can use a Foil Quill with the DX too. Maymay has those in her store.
I bought this in HSN and ran it thru the trial. It went well. Then I ran my own cardstock with stamps and it cut well. The problem is that paper stuck to the mat. How do I clean the mat. I used the scoop without much luck. Would the Cricut scraper work better? Can I use water?
For Maymay or any DX owners - I am totally on the same page as Maymay when it comes to buying the latest models when it comes to technology. That being said, I want to buy a SNC, but I know for sure that I will only be using it to cut stamped images, and 95% of the time I'll be using the same brand/weight cardstock. So - do I really need to spend up on the DX or would I be fine with the less expensive CM350? I own a Cricut Explore Air and love it for everything else related to paper and vinyl. If I do want to venture into fabric and other heavier materials, I would upgrade to the Maker before using the SNC for those projects. For my needs it seems like the only to advantages of the DX are the auto adjusting blade and the quieter sound. Sound isn't an issue for me, and I'll only be using cardstock so how often would I need to fiddle with the blade settings? Thoughts?
I have such a hard time loading my mat on the SDX 225! The mat can only load from one end on this one, but on my cm350 model, the mat can load from either end & it loads so much easier on this one! I wish Brother would’ve left the hole punch off & allowed us to use both old & new mats interchangeably!
I missed the live show but I am so excited , I went to the HSN site and ordered this machine, DX125, and used the sign up discount as well! Awesome deal! And I have an older Cricut I use as well. This is so exciting.
Kim Lewis I don’t have the machine but I know you can choose to cut a shape around the stamped image. You should be able to do that. Otherwise if you want an offset around the font itself, you should be able to just enlarge the offset until it has a continuous bubble around the whole phrase.

Maymay.. have you had trouble with the DX chewing/cutting deep marks on the mat when on auto? I am new to card making and dies are so expensive as you know. With limited funds I have been looking to invest in the dx125.
They have the DX 225 for 799.99 because it has the 24 inch scanning and more images but that is it. The one HSN is the 125i which same as 125. The difference between 225 and 125 is that the 125i and 125 does not scan 12 x 24 and have less images than 225. AndThe DX 225 is only sold in brother dealers ( sewing centers).
Is there a way to take a picture of a stamped image with a phone or iPad and upload it to Design Space so you can cut out your stamps? I tried it with a scanner. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not.
I just have to say that I adore my ScanNCut! I have the CM350. I also own a few Cricuts including the Maker and a Silhouette and they all have their place in my crafting world. I have used them all and have no regrets about purchasing any of them. We have made many invitations, scrapbook pages and mini albums, and cut stamped and scanned images. I think you have to decide your crafting needs and buy the best machine for what you do most or in my case what I need the machine to do. Great video and demos Maymay! Thank you!!!
StampinnScrapin With Donna Lee, Question, so I bought the cricut maker and the scan and cut dx125. I was asked what the difference was, I could only say one cuts wood and one can scan. I’m still looking into both. So new, haven’t used the cricut but once and not the DX at all, lol. I DO know I want both. But if you can provide more information as to what the real difference is I would greatly appreciate it. TFS
At about 39:24 you were asked if you can scan n cut a die cut. Super intricate ones don't do well. Even if you adjust things. With less detailed dies, you can scan in the die cut and save the data. You can then cut it. When you are doing 88 of a die cut, it can be easier to do it this way. This is using the scan n cut 2
When I got the machine from HSN I had to search Brother DX. Then it came up. If I searched just scan n cut it did not. This was earlier in the week. They did still have some in stock at $349. My machine was JUST delivered.
I realize this is technologically old when speaking of computerized cutting machines. I have a Brother SNC SDX225F. It's amazing and I think the software is easy to use AND it does everything a cricut maker 2 does. Just fyi.
If you have a all in one printer you can use your stamps and scan your stamped impressions onto your computer and then import it into your Cricut to cut it out.
I think you can enlarge it by using the drawing feature. But it doesn't print. But if you just want the shape or the lines but not the actual printing yes
It is very fast when you are doing it on your own, PLUS, you can do a WHOLE PAGE of stamped items at the same time! Plus, and whoever said it is too much work to cut the stamped item out forgets that the Scan n Cut saves you from having to pay for those EXPENSIVE dies for every single stamp. You need to set it at the right cutting level. Also, ladies, there are two different levels of machines which explains the price differences!!!
Ugh. I wished I saw this before I bought my Cricut maker from HSN as TSV. It's nice but for someone who does mostly card making, the built-in scanner saves many steps.
Carol, as a stamper/card maker, it’s worth it to have both the Cricut & Scan n Cut!!! Even the older versions work well & they are much cheaper!!! At first, I could not justify having both a Cricut & Brotger Scan n Cut, but having used both, I love both of my machines & can totally justify having both!!! I have sooooo many stamps & not having to buy die cuts for them or fussy cut them is just so amazing!!! I’m not a pro, but I do use crafting for therapeutic purposes & create often!
SonShine Shon Thank you. I may have to wait a bit since i just spent a few pretty dollars. I think the scan ‘n cut was all that I really needed. Now I just need to find space in my craft room, lol.
Carol Sze sorry, I’m just seeing your reply a whole month later! Lol But I’m just curious if you could sell your Cricut so you can purchase Brother SNC? Hopefully, you we able to get it for Christmas! 😍
You cannot use the new mat in the old machine. I bought one and tried to use it and it would not load and I dropped it on the floor and it got dust on it and now I am out the money for the mat, GRRR
Hi, it does not have to be connected to scan and cut images, if are wanting to import SVG files you will need an internet connection. It comes internet ready. Thanks, Tamatha Social Media CSR tamatha@maymaymadeit.com
UPDATE: The Scan N Cut SDX125i I received from HSN did not offset an even border around my stamped images. There is an automatic feature to correct it, but it did not work for me after going through that process three times. I contacted Brother by phone - that was an exercise in futility. I contacted them by e-mail and sent the images to show them that it didn't have an even white border all the way around. They were at a loss as to how to help. I ended up sending the machine back for a replacement, thinking I must've received one that just wasn't calibrated correctly. Well, the 2nd SDX125i is doing the same thing. I only get 30 days to figure this out before I have to send it back. (again) If anyone has any ideas on how I can correct this, please let me know! fyi ... I did update the machines software. Hi MayMay and Vinnie ... I bought Scan N Cut at HSN. With a new account I got $50 off, which made it $299.99. So much to learn! I love this and will use it with all the stamps I don't have dies for!

Yes it mirror images. Canvas Workspace mirror images AND flips top to bottom

How do guy out like your scan n cut? Thinking about which machine to get.
janette aguirre-terry I love my DX125.

Thanks for this review and showing how to use this. I've been really thinking about this machine for my stamps. Love your tutorials.

I got mine on the craft sale at hsn also great price And love the fact that it does the fussy cutting
karen cradic me, too, haven’t opened the box yet until I’ve watched videos!
how can you move the design to save DTV with the SNC SDX
Have a question.. Also it bothered me that it didn’t really come with an actual instruction booklet
Tanna Lohouse The instruction manual is on their website. I printed mine out.
Im watching and want to learn to cut stamped..love my 325 DX
You actually can maneuver your image onto your card stock with a cricut with the snap mat😊
Do you have tutorial on putting on sweatshirt I have 650 brother cut and scan
I think you did a fabulous job of explaining that we need to get the machine that works for us
Hello thinking of buying one. Just curious since it’s been a few months. I see a lot of bad reviews that the mat will not load anymore. Are you still enjoying this model. I don’t have one so I would not be able to compare.

I’m not Maymay but I bought the ScanNCut DX because of that reason.
Great job explaining the stamp and cut! Please bring your camera closer in to the scan n cut screen! It is very difficult to view from your distance.
I agree! Needed to bring camera closer to see better. I have one but still needed to learn more.
Do you know if this machine can make image and transfer to embroidery machine like applique
Im thinking of buying a scan and cut. should I buy the new model. Im new to crafting.
Maymay, can you do a video on all the different extra supplies you need for the ScanNCut DX please. My husband got me one for my birthday in May, and I love it, but want to do embossing with foil, and anything else, but don’t know about it. I hope that makes sense❤️

can this machine cut shrink plastic thicknes 0.3mm?
You can duplicate not sure where it’s located to put the quantity.
I cut using black paper and now my new mat has black smudges on it. How do I remove this without taking sticky off
Here is a video on cleaning mats, thanks ua-cam.com/video/xW37DVrmX_4/v-deo.html
What type of paper do you recommend using for stamping and coloring and then cutting. I’ve had problems with paper sticking to the mat.
MayMay, you said there’s a crossover with the Maker. Have you done a comparison video? Would you, if not?
What is the exact model?
I bought this in HSN and ran it thru the trial. It went well. Then I ran my own cardstock with stamps and it cut well. The problem is that paper stuck to the mat. How do I clean the mat. I used the scoop without much luck. Would the Cricut scraper work better? Can I use water?
Use baby wipes to clean the mats.
How does it work on printed images? I make junk journals using printable journal kits.
My ScanNCut DX is 125. I'm having a hard time finding a place to find out why my machine does not recognize the pattern after I press cut
For Maymay or any DX owners - I am totally on the same page as Maymay when it comes to buying the latest models when it comes to technology. I have such a hard time loading my mat on the SDX 225! The mat can only load from one end on this one, but on my cm350 model, the mat can load from either end & it loads so much easier on this one! I wish Brother would’ve left the hole punch off & allowed us to use both old & new mats interchangeably!

I love it .where did you get it. What do you do stamp something and it cuts it out.
What the difference between 125 & 125E
Hi May May, I'm new to your channel. I'm trying to find out how to cut out 'sentiments' with the DX. Do you know how to do that?
Kim Lewis I don’t have the machine but I know you can choose to cut a shape around the stamped image. You should be able to do that. Otherwise if you want an offset around the font itself, you should be able to just enlarge the offset until it has a continuous bubble around the whole phrase.
Maymay can u pls find out where we can buy the blades?....ty
Thank you for slowing down for us newbees-I need to be shown each step how to use-I'm a visual leaner and not computer smart-so THANKS!!!!!!
You can explain the difference in Machines compared to tools because that is what each of these machines are... tools. A mechanic wouldn’t try to fix a car with a broom. That’s an extreme example but I think you did a great job saying the best machine depends on WHAT you are crafting.
How do you get all of the designs
Maymay.. have you had trouble with the DX chewing/cutting deep marks on the mat when on auto? I am new to card making and dies are so expensive as you know. With limited funds I have been looking to invest in the dx125.
Thank you for doing a video on cutting out stamped images. Before this video I didn't know what I would use this for.
Hi Maymay! Is there a difference between the adhesive mat and the scanning mat? I want to get the machine, but I’m kind of confused.
You don’t cut on the scanning mat.
Have you b
Heard about any trouble with the machine no longer reading/loading the mat after about 1000 mat loadings???
Hi Maymay! Was the lever/dial on the side down to one?
Thank you for sharing!
Is there a way to take a picture of a stamped image with a phone or iPad and upload it to Design Space so you can cut out your stamps? I tried it with a scanner. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not.
Upload image on computer and download to thumb drive and plug into machine.
You just scan the stamped image in and then it cuts out the stamped image
Do you know if the universal pen holder works with the DX125? Can't find the answer anywhere.
Yes it does.
Can you use the new mat on the older machine?
No.
StampinnScrapin With Donna Lee,

Maymay the machine on HSN says Brother ScanNCut2 is this the same as the machine you are using in this video?
Hi, no this is the ScanNCut DX , it is a different machine, thanks Tamatha Social Media CSR
tamatha@maymaymadeit.com
When I got the machine from HSN I had to search Brother DX. Then it came up. If I searched just scan n cut it did not. This was earlier in the week. They did still have some in stock at $349. My machine was JUST delivered.

1ofthekingskids the dx is the newest and does a lot more than the 2
I watch you two alll the time and I love the depth you go to esplain how to make your cards and work the machines. Thank you both

Yes.
If you have a all in one printer you can use your stamps and scan your stamped impressions onto your computer and then import it into your Cricut to cut it out.
snowboundpilot is
hi which model DX is it specifically
Never mind, as I kept watching you answered my question! Thanks!!!
OMGosh! “I wish I could just shuck it down....you just can’t shuck it down to the cob”! I’m dying here!!
Thank you I have the old machine want this one now! Cannot but want it ☺️
Is this snc dx much different from Snc 2
Thanks for subtitling - very important for deaf people like me - I wish all the videos are subtitled in UA-cam.
Aw your grandbaby is precious.
Can the scan n cut enlarge a stamped image and cut it?
I think you can enlarge it by using the drawing feature. But it doesn't print. But if you just want the shape or the lines but not the actual printing yes
Yes.
Is there a release date, yet? Great video. TFS!
I missed out I'll watch it later at work I love your DIYs I'm new I always try to watch your live videos I always learn something
Maymay hiw different is the mats
I sure hope you get credit for sharing this machine MayMay bc I went an bought one!
your cut outs are so simple, what happens with a stamp that is more complicated?
It works for me every time, even on complicated designs.
I have heard the mat is better then the other one
Sanitize a fish? And I agree. Your husband does sound like Dr. Phil!
I meant how different are the size oof the mat
Thanks for the update on the newest scan N cut. Grandlittles are such a blessing 💞. Thank you for doing what you do and for all your help so too💞

The baby is so cute. God bless
Hello from New Zealand
Can you duplicate a design?
Looks like a great machine
DOES IT HAVE TO BE CONNECTED TO INTERNET OR WIFI TO USE IT
Hi, it does not have to be connected to scan and cut images, if are wanting to import SVG files you will need an internet connection. It comes internet ready. Thanks, Tamatha Social Media CSR

thank you
This would be really great for those of us with arthritis in our hands. Fussy cutting makes my fingers hurt.
Bonus...w/the 140lb card stock you have a stencil left over if you're cutting outlines like the tree and simple shapes
I am so interested in this machine
So quiet! On my wish list when it comes to Canada!
I have the cricut maker and I never use it. I want to sell it and buy this machine.
Do you need a computer to use the machine
No but the online Canvas Workspace gives you versatility.
(again)
If anyone has any ideas on how I can correct this, please let me know!
fyi ... I did update the machines software.
Hi MayMay and Vinnie ... I bought Scan N Cut at HSN. With a new account I got $50 off, which made it $299.99. So much to learn! I love this and will use it with all the stamps I don't have dies for!
Just got mine, so far so good. Anytime I can get out of fussy cutting I am so there!
Omg she is precious❤️
