Lord Brigo "Mama Popo"

To those knowledgeable about the calypso art-form , the late Samuel Abraham, the Lord Brigo , was certainly a legend , whose unique style and delivery placed him among the greats , even going back to the golden age of traditional calypso , the sixties.
From the 1998 live concert album "Raw Kaiso 2", here is Brigo performing his classic kaiso hit , "Mama Popo" from calypso's golden age.
With his typical humor, the Lord Brigo tells the sad but humorous story of his childhood, and his painful relationship to his mother.
Samuel Abraham , The Lord Brigo died today , Tuesday 5/16/2017.
He was 76.

A brilliant composition by Mr. Samuel Abraham- who admits..."it was rough growing up...but as I got older I realize it was good training...." Claasic kaiso from the bygone Era (1950s-1980s'). Just like Crazy, Explainer and many others in the Kaiso line, Brigo was as I have read & understood is considered one of the underrated artists in Calypso- many don't get the recognition they richly deserve!!!!

The guy have a great voice, together with his lyrics he deserves a lot more recognition. sadly the persons who determine the fate of calypsonians, do not appreciate good "Kaiso."
