Great intro and amazing cover… though there’s no such thing as a “recovering punk rocker”, once a punk always a punk! Watch them live (yet again) 3 weeks ago and still got the goosebumps.
Fantastic job Barton. Thanks a lot to share this. Generator is an all time masterpiece and you honor it with this beautiful cover. Much respect from a guy who grew up reading and inspired by Graffin’s lyrics and music.
That's mighty high praise, sir. Thanks very much for stopping through. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Generator changed my life for the better. Happy to hear from a fellow Graffin-ite. Thanks again.
barton carroll can you consider to cover the song called “The approach” from the new Bad Religion album? It could be awesome! Thanx again for the music.🙏🏼
@@PressPullStudio That's a standout track on the new record. Graffin's deliver is razor sharp, as always. I'll tinker with it. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@bartoncarroll6177 Cool! She has a long catalogue of Bad Religion covers on UA-cam. It would be amazing if you the two of you did a duet covering Bad Religion together while this quarantine is happening. :-)
Bad Religion is my favorite band. Been to about 30 live concerts since 1996. I am also a scholar of all things Bad Religion, including cover versions. This is my favorite acoustic cover of a BR song alongside Eddie Booze’s version of Better Off Dead. I can honestly say I like your acoustic version of The Answer better than Graffin’s version itself. Nicely done!
Good question. I suppose I tried to just do what Bad Religion did originally, which is to keep the guitars out of the way of the song. Or to use it as a vehicle for the vocals/lyrics/melody. The picking pattern is one I learned a while back, and I can't seem to break the habit. There's a little flair in the solo, but I mostly just tried to create a bed for vocals, which is something I think BR do really well: lay down a foundation for Graffin's voice, and turn up the heat when they need to. Thanks for asking!
Lol, talking bout accident. Just stumbled here for the first time and literally yesterday Ive heard a guy playing Misfits cover slow and SHIT. And not just it was the MIsfits, it was fucking Earth AD number, a damn We bite 🤣🤣😂😂 Like okay, if you tried some of the earlier Misfits, the Googy era, those songs they have with heavy fifties RnR vibe to the, rockabilly sound, like twenty eyes, vampira, hatebreeders, ghouls night out etc, no, the dude literally took We bite to fucking butcher the shit out of it. And ofc he had his lyrics, lol, what he heard in that I have no idea. Gave him some change for the effort and for taking Misfits to cover in the first place, but also said to him that he failed. Miserably.
"people who don't like them, don't know what's good in this world"
well said!
Recovering punk rocker haha I love your music man..
Great cover man. I appreciate the accurate description of the band as the greatest band ever. Love to see other BR fans.

Ricardo Amarante Fernandes Thank you sir!
A couple jerks put thumbs down...wth. Great job playing this great song in such a cool way. 👍
This is one of my favorite Bad Religion covers I've ever heard. You and Emily Davis should be a Bad Religion cover duo. :-)
Gregory Soden i don’t know Ms Davis, but I’ll look her up. Thanks for listening!

You are also the only person to cover this song that sings the lyrics correctly as “brass tubes” vs. “glass tubes”. Extra points for getting it right.
amazing Greetings from Berlin ;)
Neat! Great video! 👍
I love it, awesome.
This is great Barton :)
Awesome 👌
This was just what I needed. Thanks
Fantastic.
Awesome, dude!!!
Dude... that was beautiful!

Awesome cover. Seriously. You should play “highway” from Cold as the clay. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Show de bola...
Saudações do Brasil...
The song sounds really great bro
So beautiful! Could you provide the guitar chords somehow? I'd love to cover that 1:1!
Good Job !
fuck yeah
I think this guitar arrangement is better than Graffin's one on Population Wars!
Thanks Mark! I dunno....Graffin is the OG....but I'll keep aspiring!
No problem. Any tips to offer for writing guitar arrangements like this one? What's your process?

Thanks Matt! Will try to get another video up soon.

American Lesion preceeded Cold As The Clay by ten years, didn't it?
But I'm a recovering punk rocker 😂
