- Oskar Groening was a member of the Waffen SS stationed at Auschwitz. Now he's on trial in Germany, charged with being an accessory to mass murder. Mark Phillips reports on the case that's already seen testimony from an Auschwitz survivor.

Bro whats the point of jailing a 93 year old man who can barely even walk by himself? Prison is supposed to be a means to reform criminals and keep the streets safe. I dont see any of these two factors happening here.
It's retribution mindset. It has no sense
Besides prisons are just another form of big business
"Osama Bin Laden has finally been found after 50 years, he is now 90, therefore, nothing can be done"
Its a form of justice, it doesn’t matter if he dies the next day, but it sends a message that they won’t escape their horrific actions
Going to jail isn't the point. The point is there's no statute of limitations for nazis. No matter how old these people get, they can still get caught. It doesn't matter if he goes to jail or he dies the next day. It's the fact he got caught and that enough for people

Howard's Channel - usually I don't respond to people like you, however, you seem uneducated so I'll give a kind reply. First, to be ignorant is to be uneducated, so it would be wise to purchase a dictionary! Secondly, Ive been to the holocaust museum and furthermore, my grandfather fought in WWII as a Marine Raider. I listened to his stories of island hoping in Japan and liberating internment camps. You have absolutely no idea of what happened in 1940 and I think you should take heed of your own advice.
He escaped the system headass
He got caught
He did what he did VOLUNTARILY
I have no sympathy for him
This whole thing, WW2, The Holocaust, is so sad.
Chillin in Antarctica at the time what was WW2?
For example, if a person is a military officer in a bad country, it doesn’t mean that he likes to do it or want to do it.

Right
Many thanks to the justice department for sentencing this 93 year old man. I feel soooo much safer.
Yeah cuz justice is about making you feel safer
@@TacosYBurritos8P he was sarcastic
That man litterally is at the age he cannot cause any harm.
Bro he was such a danger to the public I’m so glad too. He was in his house… MENACINGLY!!!
@@darktruth4540 OMG!!! Are you kidding me??????? She obviously saw some of his terrible terrible crimes & her family endured it!!!! What a horrific thing to say!! That attitude is what was the most horrible crimes of torture & cruelty back then!!! Shame on YOU!!!!
My boy aint done nth wrong
What's even the point? It's not like he has much time left.
Yes Man They are a bunch of morons for imprisoning a 93 years old man
The point is to remind the germans of being quite about whats happening now to them. this is to show germans that they deserve whats happening atm.
Yes Man No one can be forced to do things against their will , as we all have choices. As for why they still wants to persecute the old man , its because they want to show the world that u can hide, but u cannot hide forever
Corrupt Slayer "No one can be forced against their will" humm .... slavery? And thats just one exemple among thousands
seriously! he probably died 2 days after
Am i the only one who thinks people at some point should forgive? And he was also just following orders
Alex G Nope, they should kill him and kill his family too. All the dumb Nazi fucks should die
Alex G
As a Jewish person myself I can say personally I can forgive a 90 year old nazi jewelry collecter... Seriously even if he had a hand in killing it was a long time ago, its too late to put him in prison, and the moral guilt that follows him is enough to sate any my unforgiving thoughts into submission. Legit whats your argument against this guy? He joined an army opposite to that of the allies and worked at a concentration camp which he had no control over? Just let the old guy live the rest of his short life in peace damnit!
+SomeGuy you must not know much about this subject. many were forced
Chase Myers the jews were targeted because germany was miserable after ww1 and he won peoples voted by blaming the misery on a group of people. He chose the jews
Alex Alex it was fucking 70 years ago though
A guard? He was just taking orders. This is petty.
that's what all nazis said: "I was just taking orders"
You must be an idiot to believe something like this...
88 and a nordic symbol. No wonder you are thinking that he only took orders
This is so despicable. He was supposed to be punished when the war happened not a million years later. This isnt justice its people being imbecils. Whay the system needs to do is their damn job right and actually deliver justice and stop fooling around
Because he wasn't really guilty of anything. He was an accountant, didn't want to engage there, worked to disprove Holocaust deniers, and testified against his officer to get them jailed/executed. He wasn't charged back then because we actually understood justice and that this man didn't need jail time.
This is where tax money goes? He's 93 and dying anyway, whats the point?
Those poor German taxpayers.
***** I see that, but I don't agree from my point. My Granddad was a bookkeeper for the US Air Force, and if the tides had turned, he would have been responsible in some way for aiding attacks on Japanese citizens, blah, blah, blah. I think we should've stopped at the honchos and left the goons to rot in their own guilt.
***** the rest of his life will probly not be that long.
Brandon Carroll You need to catch up on your history...smh
craig kendall to kill him faster
Germany: follow orders or you will be executed.

Well, this video didn’t age well.
I understand why she is mad at the man, but leave him alone. He is 93. WWII happened many decades ago. What happened decades ago should not go to trial in modern days.
He was sentenced to 4 years, and died 3 years later while appealing before he even began his sentence
This is despicable. The war was funded on both sides.
Fr this is the most stupid thing
That sucks
Bruh. Imagine being 93 and then spending the last years of your life appealing for things you did decades ago
@@nevaeh9125 he was forced to do it
Everyone sits here acting like you could just disobey orders and face zero consequences

most stupidest thing i saw
He was an accountant, and he was also 93 years old 💀
The world before they sentenced him: 🌍
The world after they sentenced him: 🌍
So what a person who helped in the Genocide of over 6 million human beings should just be let of the hook because he has a few wrinkles and a Zimerframe. He is a murderer and time doesn’t erase the past.
still all the same
🌎 no this is because it tilted during the sentencing
I wish I was a guard there 70 years ago
@@Anonymous-lq2bs Nice bait
who is he going to hurt at the age of 93
Lol he totally got a free pass he lived to be 90. At this point it's just forgive and let go.
TheBookWorm1718 The dude was an accountant...? I would understand more if he, say, killed anyone. He aided the Nazis by doing their books and collecting the valuables of the deceased. That + being 93... this is just stupid and seems like Germany is going too far in distancing themselves from the Holocaust. I think everyone knows that they fucked up, what is the necessity of this though?
Nazgûl it's not who he is going to hurt. It is how he did hurt. You don't charge someone for murder in case they are going to do it again you do it to punish them.
Laurence Wood He didn't murder anyone though
TheBookWorm1718 why isn't every German soldier who worked at the concentration camp being tried, I'm sure there is thousands more who actually had a hand in it yet an accountant is being tried?
They acting like he was the Austrian man who escaped bruh
As a Jew, I too believe that this is not right, this man may have done some bad stuff, but he doesn’t deserve to be locked up as a 93 year old man
What is next? Put the relatives of Nazi's on trial?
They don't do that.
Of course
ZX2ManDave Hahaha NO
ZX2ManDave How does what you said make any sense
I hope
Prison is for teaching people to understand what they did wrong, and to keep them out of public, for safety. This is a damn 93yr old man, who has had decades to dwell on his past, and exactly what threat to society does he pose???
prison is for justice served
Ya prison isnt reformant its a punishment what your talking about would be a program
Wolf Reviews prison should be for reforming, it is in Norway.
Reformation is the only purpose for prison that makes sense.
Wolf Reviews Also he was probably forced to do this.
Blaire Russ but norway isnt the us and prison isnt for reformation here sadly but even then hes too old to be reformed
Time to forgive and forget...especially those who were forced to the more unpleasant tasks on the pain of death....❤
