Bone cluster! New Zealand fossil road trip day 3 - Invercargill to Oamaru incl Dunedin museum

- In the morning I did a dinosaur dig with Jake and then drove along the backroads to Oamaru to see what I could find there. Along the way, I stopped at the Dunedin Museum to have a look at their collection which had a ~7m plesiosaur in it.

What a wonderful make a wish, I am sure he will treasure the memory. Love the photographic shots of the seagulls bathing in fresh running water and the morning mist.
There were so many great photographic moments on this trip, sometimes I just took it all in without grabbing my camera :)

@@MamlamboFossils Yeah... I remember being brutalised by sand fleas as a kid in Malaysia... had an allergic reaction to them... had to go to a clinic and was bed ridden for a couple of days! Ouch!

What an amazing roadtrip! You're so fortunate to live in such a small country with so many finds to be found, and only a few hours away! I'd be out there every day if I was New Zealander. Sadly I'm eastern Canada/Canadian Shield and any prehistoric is like a 6 day drive away lol lots of olddd rock... but nothing exciting to be found sadly.
I've seen some nice fossil crabs from Canada, but like you say, it's a huge country!
