Jag har följt dig sporadiskt det senaste året så jag måste säga att din svenska är närmast oklanderlig. Det är bara på några få ställen som du krånglar till det lite granna.
Jag fick en ide att ni kunde tävla i att översätta. Stefan läser en svensk mening för Caro som hon ska översätta korrekt till engelska. Caro läser en engelsk mening för Stefan som han ska översätta korrekt till svenska. Tre poäng för en perfekt översättning och en poäng för nästan perfekt.😎
Kul video!!
Keep do what you do! Förstår inte hur du blev så flytande på svenska på bara en så kort stund.
This was so much fun! I found myself trying to understand the words along with you and may have had as much fun as you did. I also truly appreciated hearing the difference between your Swedish and that of Caroline. I must compliment you on your grasp of the language as I can hear the difference from when you started to today. I'm still smiling at Maxim being a children's magazine.
Störde mig på hur tjejen "förklarade" de svenska orden och gav sig själv 0,5 poäng trots att hon var fel ute nästan varje gång. Men kul idé och bra jobbat, Stefan 😊
Wow vad du pratar BRA! Så snabbt!! Imponerad!! Din svenska liknar väldigt mycket en vän som är uppvuxen i Australien med svenska föräldrar. Han har bott i Sverige sedan han var ung.
I think a better swedish word for "Nabbed" would be "Knep" (verb) And in case you are curious about why I put "verb" in there, it's because, in swedish "Knep" is also a noun. In that form, it means "trick".
Wow this was so good. Haven't studied swedish in a while, just getting back into it. I understood about 80% of this and really enjoyed this to practice my swedish👍
3:56 ”å.. å sen om man får det då” var ju fan nästan helt perfekt melodi och uttal! Låter supersvenskt! 👌 😉 Also she did you dirty 😂 Du valde mycket enklare ord hahaha.
4:31 Isn't it the same as nicked, in other words grabb or some such. It could be used as in a quick theft or as in picking something up quickly, say in a sport. At least that's my best guess... I *guess* it could also be caught, similar to how you can get nicked by the police? 5:16 Yep, I was pretty close there. :-) 5:41 Oh dear, the closest *sounding* word I can think of is "Forføre" in Norwegian, essentially meaning to seduce someone. Not necessarily sexually although that's the most common use. 6:07 Okay, I was definitely off there... 6:35 Yep, not even close... 7:12 I know exactly what it means and use it when speaking English, but damned if I can find a good Norwegian translation or describe it in few words. But it's kind of what we seek when we want things to be "koselig"... Being happy or if not outright happy at least content (accepting, kind of?) of the current situation/condition etc. Lagom, koselig etc is all kind of connected to that concept, but it's really, really hard to nail down exactly... 7:33 I guess you could say "fornøydhet" in Norwegian although it's really, really weird... 8:00 Yep, I understood it right, although I gave accepting slightly more weight then their definition. As in you being content with your station in life as opposed to say ambitious. I had no idea about *that* Swedish word either... I'm following their conversation in Swedish just fine though... 8:22 I *think* that translates to "merkelig" in Norwegian, so strange/mysterious? However I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong and this is closer to being thoughtful (in the full of thoughts meaning not in the more common considerate meaning). 8:40 Okay, so strange/funny rather than strange/mysterious... So not *totally of I think... 9:00 Okay, so I was definitely off. Not by so much that I'd be unable to communicate with a Swede, but I'd definitely lose out on nuance there... 10:37 Optimism, as in being positive and hopeful of the future, or rather having a natural tendency towards belief in a good outcome for the future. 11:58 Yep, I was right. Now, let's see... That word makes me think of being aware of and considerate of a detail and/or being considerate of a nuance or detail. 12:30 Okay, so closest Norwegian word would be to be "bevist" something. To know or be aware of something. I'm not sure I completely agree with that translation. There's more nuance in that English word then that Swedish (or for that matter Norwegian) word contains. I don't feel confident enough in that word to make use of it in my own vocabulary, although I understand it when I encounter it (common enough). But yeah, I don't feel like we'd be cognizant of all the nuances of "cognizant" if we just called it essentially a synonymse of "aware". 12:41 Okay, what the heck?!? I guess new custodian? 13:03 Not even close... Interesting that I'm struggling more with Swedish then English despite Swedish being closer to my native language... 13:00 Okay, I'm going to give "newly recruited" a try, but not holding my breath here... 13:36 Yeah, I was more or less right about that one I think. "Nyvervet" would be our word for it I *think*. I don't think that I'd give the one to you though... Honestly you're both cheating a little bit and being awfully kind to each other. Probably more then I'd accept rewarding. But hey, you two had fun. :-)
Stefan your Swedish is great! This was a funny video, and as a Swede who has lived in the USA for 30 years, it was easier for me to explain some of the the English words lol...
Wow. WOW. I've been following your channel and videos for years by now, and your swedish Is SO GOOD. The melody and grammar in how you speak is on point besides the american r's that pop up now and then. It feels weird, but I feel kind of secondary proud..?
Det var jatte roligt och tack för tipsen om readly! För de som bor utomlands kan det vara svårt att prenumera till svenska tidningar eller tidskrifter.
How do I replicate the 'i' sound as she said it in Maxim? It seems to my American english ear to be a long E cut short and almost 'swallowed'. To my ear it's one of the sounds that's really part of sounding authentic as I try to learn more Swedish.
I thought about it for a while and wanted to give my best answer. After repeatedly saying the long E and the swedish I a few times, I noticed you need a wider/flatter tongue a bit pushed up to the roof of your mouth for the english E. For the swedish I, I notice I have to lower the back of my tongue, making more space at the back of the mouth. Try saying the english E forcing yourself to relax your tongue, not letting it push upward. With the E sound, my tongue seems to fit between the molars, while the I sound requires the tongue to touch the upper teeth closer to the front (aproximately on the third tooth counting from your middle front teeth. So basically, say E and then push the tongue forward. Hope this was helpful!
Kul tävling! Även jag som är infödd svensk, gått 12 år i skola, samt innehar en ålder på 60+ fick tänka till både en och två gånger på de svenska orden. Detta är inte lätt!? De engelska orden gick inget bra även om jag arbetat för ett amerikanskt företag med mycket korrespondens på engelska...hum
I got all of them. I might have had issue with one of the Swedish words. Mind you I am Swedish and I now live in Canada since 21+ years so I am very fluent in both languages. Some words taken out of context can be really hard for native speakers as well.
Något som jag märker att du behöver jobba mer på när du pratar svenska är ditt uttal av Å, Ä och Ö, till exempel när du sägerockså som "ocksa", är som "ar" och göra som "gora". Oavsett så är jag imponerad med hur långt du har kommit med din svenska och hur enkelt det är för mig som svensk att förstå din svenska!
Underfundig is a word I've been looking for a suitable translation for, for years. The meaning of it is a something that is funny, like a joke, but not something you laugh straight out of. A subtle joke, you could say. Often having a double meaning, or could be interpreted in more than one way. It could be a touch of irony into it. An underfundigt nickname could be if you call a goalkeeper "Nollan" ="The Zero", also implies what we can say "noll koll" about (zero knowledge, zero understanding, zero intelligence, "zero control". This could be compliments to a good goalkeeper, or irony for a not so good one.) Or, also about a goalkeeper, or a carpenter, a wood worker; "Spiken". Pronounces like if spelled in English "Speaken", meaning "the Nail". When, especially in ice hockey, a goalkeeper stops every puck we can say, not to be misunderstood, he "boarded up behind him". In Swedish we use the verb 'spika' from the noun 'spik', meaning 'nail', to describe what he has done 'spikade' (nailed). (Spika can be, as in English "nailed it", made it spot on, OR when gaming on sport results, picking only one option for winner in a system.) The Finns are the GOATs of "underfundig" humor. In difference to me🫣🫣😓😂 they can use one word to express a full sentence, by choosing THE keyword, that not necessarily, or most likely, would be in that sentence. They deliver the listeners a key to figure out the rest, which becomes obvious, all by themselves. Joke, based on the assumption that Finns speak with few words, 'kippis' means 'cheers', love their sauna and vodka (nowadays the latter isn't 100% true) Pekka and Juha were going to have a sauna bath, and sitting in the heat, Pekka had a bottle of Koskenkorva. He poured two glasses as he asked: "So will we talk, or will we drink?" Juha replied: "Kippis"
Your Swedish is almost perfect. Pronunciation tip: Work on your ÅÄÖs .. It sounds like you pronounce "Det här är" as "Det har ar" and forgetting the ä sound. Kopa instead of Köpa.
Good job on the Swedish, your getting really quick at understanding and speaking the swedish language. BUT, you still got that AR instead of the swedish ÄR(R) pronunciation. Work on that and it will sound really great =)

Yes, translated, "have" and "here" , ("har" and "här") are 2 very different words. But his speaking flow always gets better when doing these challenges! 💕🏆🥇
I'm surprised an American has such a hard time with the word "konstigt", it's not a word I expected your accent to impede. Is it perhaps something you picked up from a group you learned Swedish with, or is it a natural impediment, born from your American accent?
De engelska orden var inga problem, men tyckte de svenska var svårare. Specifikt underfundig vet jag inte om jag någonsin hört, man säger alltid fyndig här nere. "Att komma underfund med" är en sak, men att ett skämt är "underfundigt" låter helt fel i mina öron, låter arkaiskt.

The swedish words were much harder than the english words, even for swedish speakers.
It's not fair. Your words are too hard. But a good try.
I understand that this is a fun thing but non of you should have got that amount of points lol, to kind to echuter :P :P
