A Samsung Phone Under £200/$200! | Galaxy A15 5G Unboxing

- Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, a budget smartphone boasting a 50MP camera, mostly respectable specs and a price under £200. While the performance and gaming creds are a bit whiffy on the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, this affordable phone could be a worthy alternative if money is tight.
That camera tech can capture some reasonably natural looking pics if you're working with decent lighting. In lower and softer light sadly you'll get noisy pics, while there's no 4K video option. Likewise, the Dimensity chipset with just 4GB RAM isn't good enough. The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G stumbles when using some camera modes, struggles with many apps and can only manage some light gaming.
Still, on the positive side, the Samsung A15 5G offers some features you won't find on the Galaxy S24. Memory card support and a headphone jack are two examples. Plus you've got excellent battery life and a proper decent AMOLED screen. Oh, but only a mono speaker. And none of that AI shenanigans.
So if you're after a budget phone under £200 (just), the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is worth considering alongside the Poco phones and other recent rivals.

Samsung targeting a wide market range is a prove that everyone matters to them. There is a phone for every budget and having a uniform design tone means everyone is important. Weldone Samsung.
4gb ram and a mediocre processor undoes everything
Lmao, sheep
@@EphesusD There's 8gb option and the processor isn't bad. I've used it for a while now lol
@@EphesusD I have the 4g version, and that is not slow, but depends on how you set it up, and use it, great phone for £150!
Samsung is the company which makes a poor feel poor. That notch is the evidence.
Headphone jack _and_ an SD card slot?? YES, PLEASE! ❤
Depending on the kinda person buying it, and their needs/requirements....
I use wireless headphones and don't necessarily use a SD card but still nice to have if I ever considered using one
There are thousands of phones with those
You can put on one side of the sim tray a sd card and the sim card on the other side😊or you can use 2 diferent sim cards. And have the headphones jack also
that is one of the only reasons why you shoud buy a budget phone
I've never understood why fingerprint scanners in the power button is considered a lower quality option. They work better every single time over under screen and they are much more convenient to reach and use
probably 'cause they're cheaper
I actually find it more convenient 😊
I'm more used to the side fingerprint instead of on display one
I can't believe how no expandable storage has become the default for $1000 flagship phones. Glad at least the smaller devices are still going strong in that regard.
At 1000 dollars, flagships already have at least 256 GB of storage. Also, Android is becoming less and less supportive of external storage. I remember the days when apps can be stored on external MicroSD. Now, some apps can't even have permission to read it. The MicroSD experience on modern Android is abysmal. It's basically an integrated external storage only for data.
@@Azu10157 the base one is indeed very expensive for the storage offered. That said, the original comment focused on 1000 dollars phone. Also, Samsung offered storage upgrades during the pre-order era. You automatically get bumped one level higher.
even though i set my camera roll to SD, Samsung decided it was a good idea to make multiple folders with the name camera in it as its own camera fold in my note 20ultra, of course it was no longer on the sd card either @@bltzcstrnx
@@bltzcstrnx Also no 3.5mm headphone jack but the cheap one has lmao
@@WreckerALeX even Chinese phone begin ditching headphone jack at the high-end. In the future, only cheap phones will likely have a headphone jack.
I have the 8/256 GB variant so far multitasking has been smooth
I just bought one for my dad and his really happy with it
See that's why I like this guy I wanted to find a review on this and here it is
Been using the LTE version for the last month, thoroughly impressed with the performance and 90hz screen for the price.
Is it worth the upgrade from the A10 or should i go up the price ladder?
@@bsherenkov4150 From an A10? Can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed with the A15 🙂
@@bsherenkov4150 a15 4g is good
@@bsherenkov4150 If you can spend a little more than I really recommend you to look on the Samsung m34. I don't own it but I'm currently looking for a new phone and that one is one of my favorites now(currently using the Samsung m21)
@@bsherenkov4150yes pls upgrade
Coming from an s10e, it's absolutely awesome. Especially for cell coverage. Performance is a side grade for gaming but for day to day its a ton better and the screen is a ton brighter and I get 5g everywhere now. So much better, and plenty of software updates for the next few years!
I'm still on the s9 and feel like buying this phone. If you say its decent that will do for me mate
Funny enough I'm still rocking the s10e too. I'm thinking of changing to this new one so I'm glad to hear it's a good step up
@@julianmendoza5089 I would say the a25/34/54 is a better option now that I've lived with it. 2 biggest issues for me are 1: gaming and multitasking performance isn't the best, 2: single speaker.
Both are solved with the other models up the stack though, and the a54 current goes used for the same price as the a15.
Shoot I still have my s10e its my phone for my DJI MINI SE lol
Love the kitty chilling on the background 🐱
Just purchased this phone today and it’s amazing!
Did you get the 4gb ram version or the 6gb? And is it slow slow n guttery sometimes like he said?
Does it play efootball?
hello mr spurty. i don't know how i would have got through buying a new phone without you! i watched just about every video you've made over a 2 day/night period, & what a lot it is to take in - overwhelming in fact, for someone who knows hardly anything about phones, & needing a new one prompto. i finally plunged for the samsung galaxy a25 5g - (200 -249 £punds) which i don't see a review of by your spurty self, but i am grateful to your style of reviewing for helping to make the search more bearable. turns out it's a brick, but guess what? it makes phone calls.
As usual, great review + damn good wallpapers
I love watching you spurting all over phones.
"Boring black" is always my first choice of colour! Lol!
Thanks, Bob--love it.
Just got mine yesterday mahn samsung really did a great job here
Great phone, Samsung is very inclusive with the price ranges
Great review! Despite its leisurely performance what amazing value.😀
Ei 🙁
The camera is kind of amazing for the price. This is going to sell for around 150 or under most the time. This phone is for taking pictures of your friends and your lunch in daylight. It seems succeed at that.
I wouldn't call google assistant an upgrade to bixby! I am new to bixby and have to say I love it!! It's way better overall then Siri too! Bixby can do way more things and more smoothly like making calls and decline them all hands free etc, Bixby will even lock your screen for you.
what do you use as a wallpaper photo sir on your videos?
It was between this and the a34 5g. I went with the a34, its a beast im happy with it
What’s the battery life like on it please? 😊🙏🏾
I have the 4g version, great phone for £150, especially coming from a five y/o phone 😎
Just bought one and I love it.
You forgot to mention 4 Android updates and 5 years of security patches for Samsung a15. For example OnePlus 12r offers 3 OS and 4 years. And budget Chinese phones offer 1 OS and 3 years of patches.
That is not true about Chinese phones at all, at least be factual. What you've just said is absolutely nonsense.
Ever with that promise of meager software updates, there's no guarantee that Chinese phones will deliver it
@@HShango Oops sorry. "Oppo A series phones will get only 1 Android version update and two years of security patches as the budget smartphone series from Oppo."
@@rrsharizam I can't even find information about update policy of budget OPPO phones ( A series). Their OnePlus brand is more transparent. Motorola phones are actually interesting because of discounts but their short software support is a pass for me unless a phone is too cheap.
The importance of OS updates is greatly overrated. Phones don't self-destruct if they are not running the latest OS and there's not that many differences between the old and the new nowadays anyway
I'm using a Moto Edge 2022 and I JUST GOT Android 13(!!) a couple of weeks ago😂. I see no major differences. A couple of new fonts, gimmicks and QOL updates. Cool but hardly life changing.
My phone was just as smooth on 12 as it is now. I'm sure I'll think the same when we (finally)get Android 14.
I'll take good hardware and software(and price!) any day over more OS updates. I don't care about how long the company supports a phone if I don't like using it in the first place. Apps still get their updates from the store so it's all good as far as I'm concerned. Phones today can run for a long time on Old OS with no issues.
That notch isn't that bad though. I've seen way bigger notches on phones that cost over 800€.
Got one and I love it so far
If I should upgrade from a Poco M3 Pro 5G (that served me since September 2021 and still counting up to this day) and I have the A15 5G and A25 5G to choose, I'll go with the former as I'm still not convinced with Exynos 1280 that powers A25 5G, plus -- since my current daily driver Poco is powered by Dimensity 700 5G, it should be a pretty big jump performance-wise. And yea, I'm not considering any flagship Samsungs not only because they're very pricey, but also missing quality of life features that I actually use like expandable storage and hadphone jack (yes I still prefer wired ear/headphones, even if wireless options have gotten better because I don't want another device to charge and I tend to be forgetful)
ii always thinking when i watching your videos, wondering if where you get your wallpapers?
My current phone is A51 4G. Is the A15 a significant hardware upgrade compared to the A51? I'm not a "phone person," I seriously almost never use my phone. However I think it just recently got the last security update it will get and I AM (slightly) concerned about security. I know the A15 will received 3 or 4 OS updates plus an additional year or two of security updates.
My mother in law just got this phone, looks pretty nice.
With the Motorola G84 now at that price, would you say it's the better choice? Thanks!
Nipple notch action 🤣 my fav techtuber ❤
This is still better than iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Funny😂
you got the copium alright?
You are lying
As an iPhone 15 user and previously Samsung user, I have to say that it depends on your own personal preference. Nothing is right or wrong.
what makes the a15 better than the 15 pro max? I use both android and iphone devices.
Please do a comparison with the older but more mid-range budget A34
got the s10e wil the a15 be a upgrade>? have no clue about phone specs only play pokemon go on it and epic 7
This phone is perfect! For introverts who don't like to use the camera, for people who don't care if the phone cracks or gets lost or stolen. It does the basic and not for the entitled demanding people who want more and more and more.
I don't want much all i need is good battery and for it not to slow down when playing games
I just need a 2th phone bcs i have a s23+ rn and dont want ro use it mutch to ceep it in good shape. I watch youtube alot when i sleep when i work or when i dart. And i need a 2th phone saw this one in yellow i love yellow. Do you recoment it for just youtube and few games
Nice video again 👍 May I ask where do you get your wallpapers from?
I bought samsung a15 3days ago . Its good for daily use
Are you enjoying the phone
I'm looking to get my mom a new phone from her galaxy A50, would the A15 feel better or would I need to look at the 25 or 35 for ot to feel like an upgrade?
Go with the A35, that'll be waterproof and faster
I use this as my third phone and surprisingly this bugger plays game even better than my A53 that comes with exynos.
That's insane lol
@freedcrypto, 3rd phone?? How many side chicks you got😂 Save some for the rest of us😂
Bro, I have 3 phones too 😂. Redmagic 8S Pro for gaming, Pixel 7 for daily use and photos, OnePlus AcePro Genshin Impact edition for... well, I don't really use that phone, it's more of a trophy sitting on a shelf 😂

Lovely Kana wallpaper 💓
That family of Samsung is a really good purchase I did get my babes either the 10 or the 11 version back in the day but they are still in use.
Great job kind sir
Spurty, compare it to the iphone SE please? 😉😉
Hey Uncle Spurt that Samsung Galaxy A15 5G phone looks really cool I have the Samsung Galaxy A14 it's a great phone.
I swll phones storage sd card slot is a huge deal breaker... most customers rather a midrange with expandable storage
Amazing from Samsung to make a phone for everybody at any stage of their lives. Great decision to whoever at Samsung decided to provide all these choices. Now nobody has an excuse to not have the ability to try OneUI, which is really great these days!
Can this phone be used in the USA with a SIM from a network outside the USA?
My phone that I was using for my congo sim broke down. and I wanted to buy this Samsung A15 for my congo sim. will it work? note that I am in the USA. THANKS
Samsung doing right things now sir value for money
But the same phone has a helio g99 here which is a very capable chip. And you do have 6/8gb options. Im confused. Are there different variants of the phone in different regions?
Yeah 🎉
Funny story about me when I bought Galaxy A53.
While (almost) everything that A53 is similar to A33, the only reason I bought A53 was the display... less chin and camera dot (or as Samsung's marketing infinity-O)
If only mid-range Samsung has simetrical display, or at least less chin, I am okay with lower spec phone since I am not a heavy Phone user.
My ideal phone for mid-low range is having 4 years update, simetrical display which I am okay with thicker bezel if only it is more symmetrical, 8GB RAM, UFS 2.1 at least, WiFi 6, around 4500 mAh battery, 1 camera a good camera (I don't really care about zoom or macro or ultrawide), USB-C, Infinjty-O, at least 90 Hz display with at least 120Hz touch sampling rate, Full HD Amoled that can playback HDR in Streaming platforms.
For SoC, I don't care as long as it is efficient for 1,5 days battery and not lagging when browsing websites or when moving between 2-3 apps.
You just described a Poco X6 Pro.
@@bapbernardo Poco has amazing hardware, yet its software is unbearable. Updates are inconsistent, and advertisements are splattered everywhere.
11:04 LOL!!! I'm from South Africa and I thought "kak" was a slang word native to us. So naturally hearing another nationality use that word is astonishing to me😂😂😂
Etymologyedit
From English cock, from Middle English cok, from Old English coc, cocc (“cock, male bird”), from Proto-Germanic *kukkaz (“cock”), probably of onomatopoeic origin.
Verbedit
kak
to prepare a firearm for firing
(colloquial) to reach inside one's pants to adjust the penis especially during an unwanted erection

Well the way he said it was different from us though
@@Sipho_Thenjwayo lol true, though it bears the same meaning. It's still mind boggling to hear him use it. Then again, we do follow UK English, but still, kak is a slang word here by us🤣🤣
@@baileybeatz true we had British settlers here as well
This is the only thing that bothers me about Samsung.
I have the S24+ that cost over $1,000 and they can't be bothered to give me expandable storage and put the fingerprint sensor in the power button.
Expandable in the cloud
@@ahmedmahomed I would prefer the power button one.
@@ahmedmahomed Duck the cloud. I prefer in device storage.
@@gavinurey1 I would but Sony only offer 1-2 years of software updates. For a $1400 phone that is absurd.
Hi is the Samsung A15 bigger or smaller than the A12?
When I googled it I was told that this phone supports wi fi charging and is QI compatible is that correct?
headphone jack and good battery life. thats all I need. sold.
If you have an iphone 11 in need of a battery replacement, is this phone a good replacement or just get a new battery?
Get a new battery
Keep the iPhone this phone is awful so laggy
At least on the US version of the A15 5G it has a Mediatek G99 SOC and 8GB of RAM it seems it performs decently well in my own experience but I also have an iPhone 15 Pro Max as my main device i just like having these phones as a back up with an SD card and a headphone jack.
Bigger battery doesn't necessarily always matter. It's optimization which is most important
that also old least efficient one to end the stocks
Where do you get your wallpapers?
Dont understand why flagships dont have sd expansion and headphone jacks but low ends do...
Good job bro
Has it got an inbuilt Samsung FM radio?
Bigger battery than the actual flagships 😂😂😂
It's perfect for me...
Huge battery ✅
Quality Display ✅
Okay Camera ✅
Side Mountain Fingerprint ✅
Not a heavy gamer anyway
And there is 8gb ram variant so a perfect option if I need to change my mobile this year
Does the A25 actually offer anything more than the a15? 🤔
A headphone jack, expandable storage and that buttoned fingerprint sensor are alot better than what the S- or higher A- linup offers.
Ah this one only gets one-ui lite or what ever they're calling that shit, the 25 has that
The A25 has 120hz screen and stereo speakers
120hz and aod😅 and dual speaker
Amolod is the best upgrade for this model from previous a14.
How about the Samsung Galaxy A25?
What would be the equivelant phone to this
