  • NYU Stern and Columbia Business School recently co-hosted The Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants' annual conference (#AIGAC14). What did we learn and how might it help you get admitted?

Stern has been a dream school ever since I've visited the campus, and I've visited many. Going to start MBA at Stern this fall, and very excited!

Agreed: I happened to go to NYC on holiday - all the way from South Africa and the differences in culture at Columbia and NYU are notable. There is no amount of reading that can show you this difference. I was team Columbia, but the visit really opened my eyes..... STERN over Columbia right now!
I did however note that Columbia is making efforts in changing their ethos and appeal. For example, they are adding in a Media & Tech discipline which previously students had to engage in separately. With this change, I think that the drop-off experienced by NYU in favour of Columbia will be based on more than just Ivy-league, branding and prestige. There will be some tangible competition - based on substance. Which is exciting overall for both schools.
There is just something about STERN that is completely enigmatic. My instincts favour NYU.
