Glad you guys enjoyed it. I couldn't suspend enough disbelief for how much stupidity is in it. Even aside from all that, almost nothing worked for me in any other department. Harshnett had some good scenes. His daughter and the whole nepotism stuff didn't bother me one bit though, all made sense completely
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Agreed. Like you explained, it has no more 'disbelief' than any other movie with cops in them. I can't wait for your spoiler where I can get into why the main character could do all that he did.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 well, without wanting to give spoilers out, I guess all the FBI and police decisions etc just stuck out more to me more than usual since I already wasn't enjoying much, and then you (I at least lol) hyper fixate on those things. Yet other movies can have just as unbelievable stuff in it and I'm totally fine with it lol, so I can't even fully explain it. I had no idea so many others were saying similar stuff, I thought I was just not getting into it and fixating. Not glad to see, but glad to see others thought the same things
Damn, you are the only horror UA-camr that liked this movie. All the other UA-camrs hate this, lol. I have to agree with them though, this movie did suck. The characters do too many stupid sh!t. If you were locked in a bathroom with a phone with a serial killer outside, you would call 911, not plead for help TikTok Live for f*k's sake. I was yelling at my TV man, Jesus....lol
This is why I've been coming here for years. I never know what your takes going to be. I don't bother with half the movie channels I'm sub'd to anymore because I can basically write their script for them before I even click on their video.
I went in only knowing it was a M. Knight movie with his daughter as a pop star & Hartnett as the main character. I was imagining a Cube type underground scenario in a stadium with maybe like a Cabin In The Woods crew manipulating things. I still enjoyed it & just laughed at all the absurd stuff once I realized it was going to keep happening. Would love a bloody gore filled sequel with Hartnett doing serial killer stuff.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 I think it was way back at your Barbarian review - your videos used to pop up on my feed, but they just stopped. I follow a lot of creators so it’s easy to forget if UA-cam stops sending them to me. Not sure why, but your Trap review just popped up and I remembered!
I have a soft spot for Shyamalan. I went in completely blind. This was entertaining enough, although you really have to suspend disbelief for just about every thing that progresses the plot forward. I'll probably never return to it, but I had fun with it, the suspense was decent and it kept me wanting to see where it was going. I'm glad he's still doing his thing.
Great review. With a lot of reviewers, I honestly think they should probably stop reviewing MNS films because they come in with so much baggage it’s like every new film review is a review of his entire body of work. I don’t see this happening with most other directors the way it seems to happen with him.
For me, suspension of disbelief is dependant on tone. How much you get away with is dependant on the kind of movie you're doing. The concept itself isn't plausible & I accepted that going in. I was willing to take the ride. That said, Shyamalan stretches it a bit too far, particularly in the third act. I also think the shift in perspective was clunky, but to avoid spoilers I'll leave it at that.
I haven't seen "Trap" and won't see it until the movie becomes available via online streaming , but I did watch another reviewer's thoughts on the film this morning, and while he said that he truly appreciated Josh Harnett's performance, he really struggled with the "suspension of disbelief" thing, and since I was just thinking about that idea because I watched and responded to your review of "Barbarian" a couple of days ago, I was curious to hear if Jason would voice a similar struggle and half-expected that he would. And he didn't! 😲😊 Best to you both.
I really liked the shift in perspective from the “normal” beginning to the headspace of Josh Hartnett’s character once he has that convo with the guy on the merch line. It made everything so awkward and suspenseful. People in the theater were laughing throughout so idk if I was missing something? But I enjoyed this
Anyone who said this was an unrealistic premise is being goofy. Shamalan said this was inspired by a true story where cops arrested a bunch of fugitives at a concert trap or a sports game. Can't remember which.
I watched it just now. I liked it. Not too sham-a-lany. I liked it but I really feel like they should have made the shyamalan moral about accepting responsibility
I loved this movie- saw it yesterday and want to go see it again. I think that people having problems with "disbelief" should consider that it consider that it (likely) takes place in the same universe as Split, Glass, and Unbreakable. Through that lens, it makes more sense that he "has the ability" (wink wink) to do all the over the top things. Your commentary on people expecting things to be completelt realistic was spot-on.
I’m fine with how the movie is, but I have a theory that Hayley Mills is his mom. This would answer how the police were directed by her to use tasers instead of guns, letting him touch the bike, etc. Sort of a twist that is not revealed.
Dig your review. Just want to say I enjoyed the movie. I was stuck the whole time. So that has to mean something. I didn’t mind the daughter at all, so curious why they’re so against her scenes in the movie. But they were all great. Josh is always dope
This is definitely a movie where if you demand a logical explanation for everything, then you won’t enjoy it. I’m personally not that type of movie goer. People will either view something as “there’s only little to no chance of that happening in real life.” Or if you’re like me see it as “movies are a place where we can and should explore the impossible or improbable.” If it’s not a bio pic or based on a true story or event, then I’ll choose entertainment over logic in any movie. That being said, I didn’t love it nor hate Trap. It was pretty mid. But at this point I’ve accepted that Shyamalan is going to create the movies he thinks are fun and great, and it is not his fault if people put a high expectation on him or keep hoping for the next Sixth Sense or Signs. Maybe it’s not my favorite, but I could tell he was having fun with it and so I was having fun too.
I Think He literally could’ve walked out at the end with his daughter and passed that inspection if he just kept his cool lol. Him outing himself I think was the dumbest part but I Loved it still because of Josh hartnett
In wanted to like it . Josh Hartnett was great just too bad it was in this movie . Too bad they showed so much in the trailer . I will be going into a lot in my review .
This was so fun! I'm on the M. Night train though. Love him! P. S. I love the style of your thumbnails because I know it's your video immediately when you use that style.
I do not understand those who are laser-focused on "believability" in a movie... Who cares?.. Why care? It's a fiction, not a reality simulator. Just watch it. I hate people.
You can’t accuse people of expecting The Sixth Sense just because they didn’t like it. Nobody is expecting that after so many years and films from M. Night. Maybe people just wanted to see a good movie that doesn’t insult their intelligence and doesn’t turn into a vanity project for the directors daughter who doesn’t act well
I actually liked this movie a whole lot. I was so shocked to hear so many reviewers trash this movie. Thanks for being so thoughtful in your review!
I’m not surprised. I expected it
The reveal of him being the serial killer is actually not a spoiler- its the hook. I just learned that yesterday. 😊😊

Looking forward to seeing this one. Thanks for the great review/discussion.
Of course

I liked this one a lot. Knowing he was the serial killer made me more anxious going in.
Lots of tense moments.
My favorite M Night Movie since The Visit. I do wish there were more concert stuff and less other stuff
I had a blast watching this movie. Might be the most fun I’ve had watching a movie this summer.

@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Yep. I need to rewatch the movie to see if it could work, but it secretly works for me.
