James Marsden never gets enough credit. He combines the chiseled hero with the comedic straightman with the rare ability to act opposite a non-existent character. He first demonstrated this in Enchanted and then Hop. In Hop he acted opposite the son of the Easter Bunny, voiced by Russel Brand. The wrong live actor can pull you out of the movie, but he can pull off the everyman in a romcom or partly animated with equal talent.
With the perfect combination of Sonic and Jim Carrey, any 90’s kid would agree it’s impossible not to have fun with this movie. Also I freaking love how Sonic acts just like me and my friends did when we were kids, running around everywhere, never shutting up, and always trying to have fun with friends.🤣🤣🤣

Sonic used that poor barmaid for DARTS PRACTICE!!😨 That reminds me of a movie titled, "Universal Soldier: Brothers In Arms" by Jeff Woolnough. This cute barmaid on the movie, pretty much caught the eye of Eric and his brother Luc. Eric was teaching Luc how to flirt with women, which the barmaid found amusing. The lovely lady didn't fall for either guy, rather she fell on the other side of a bar counter. That was after one bad guy entering the bar, simply picked up the barmaid and tossed her. That was due to her blocking the way. Owie!🤕
My wife and I went to see it opening night and the entire time before we saw it she's just bad mouthing it left and right. We get out the theater and on the ride home she goes "..It was good." 😂

Honestly, I watched this movie when it came out, and never again. It's probably fun for kids. The only redeeming qualities for me was the cast. Even though I didn't enjoy the movie, you gotta love Jim Carrey. Also not to mention, the guy who plays Tom, only just found this out, he played Cyclops in the OG X-Men movies, which is a pretty cool fact. Anyways, yeah, I don't know, this movie, Sonic 2, and probably Sonic 3, just not my type of movies. I mean they could've put some jokes in for the adult audiences, at least some that stick, but eh, none of them ever hit. Again though, the cast, in the sequel they got Idris Elba, and in the third they got Keanu Reeves. *Just* wish it wasn't so much for kids. Aaaand finally, I don't know why, but there's some groups of adults that are obsessed with Sonic and other children's stuff like Thomas the Tank Engine, I mean they were fun as a kid, but it's kinda weird the adults are obsessed, like Disney adults or something...
i mean i would have liked jaleel white to voice sonic again but that's probably a minority opinion. they had to add enough to make a coherent movie without making absolutely everything cgi that it doesn't feel like an adaptation of the games, but that is fine. sonic games have enough unrelated timelines we can slot this in its own timeline unrelated to any games without feeling off.

I'm normally all for realism and stuff like that but it just looked so wrong. Jim Carrey was insanely good.
