Jay Bennett was to Wilco as Chris Bell was to Big Star as Gram Parsons was to The Byrds. I imagine each of these guys in the afterlife...maybe wondering about the music...and why it all had to end so soon.
Remember this when it first aired. I recorded it on a VHS tape and played it for the bass player in our garage band. I wanted us to be the new Wilco. Crazy the thoughts you had in your youth.
Same here. For me, YHF is to AGIB what Rubber Soul is to Revolver. YHF and Rubber Soul are the albums that find their creators starting to break out of the mold that they'd been in for the beginning of their careers, and AGIB and Revolver were the albums where they were like, "Okay, let's see what happens when we take this a little farther." Oh, that and both pairs of albums go back and forth as my favourite album from each band.
no doubt- i prefer the 90`s WILCO!! i saw them live many times & they ROCKED in the 90ies... still a fine band today, BUT, maybe more a songwriting/studio- band?!
Gotta agree on Jay. Although I love all of their stuff...the earlier albums are looser...and that's why I like them more. Jay is amazing and I wish he were still with the band.
You cant compare who is better!! They are totally different bands now. They have always been good live. They are alot tighter now as there is more emph on musicianship. I miss the old Wilco with Jay and Ken.
dude - have you seen them live since 1999? They are an unreal live band now. They were great then, but they are in another stratosphere now. Nels, Glen, and Pat are a huge addition to Tweedy and Stirrat. I have never heard a better live band....ever. I have heard them pre and post Jeff and there is no comparison.
Agree 100% on the a ghost is born comment. Why anyone who thinks YHF is so great but doesn't like Ghost just doesn't make sense to me...it's like YHF taken to the next level...
Jeff Tweedy & the late Jay Bennett of alternative rock band Wilco spoke with us in the early 2000's about their creative process, the story behind their start, and how they keep their sanity on tour! Check the interview here! ua-cam.com/video/fmnIOt5PmZI/v-deo.html
dude421 There is a radiohead upload for you to watch and comment on. This one is for WILCO. I love Radiohead but this is not Radiohead, it is Wilco. Be well out there.
Jedi & Jay, if you're partial to the early stuff you should have liked the last two releases right? Sky Blue Sky and Wilco both got back to a more straight forward sound I thought.
I'm watching this over and over to try to find out why Ken keeps switching his lead hand. He's just over complicating a not complicated song. Oh well, still sounds great.
Still my favorite Wilco album, though I know I'm in the minority on that. I just never got the later stuff (after Summerteeth). It just got to far from "rock" for me.
Love all versions of Wilco, but Jay was undeniable.....
nels cline is prolly one of the most technically skilled mo fo's on guitar ever, i just dug jay's taste a little more.
Jay's playing has a bit more attitude aka a bit more balls
Agreed
1000000000%
Jay just had the “it” for this band. The absolute perfect style, tone, everything.
Jay is irreplaceable.
R.I.P. Jay. God needed a guitarist/producer up there...
this kinda reminds me of the big star song feel
It really does now that you mention it.
@@antifolkhero Probably an influence. Wilco are known to be Big Star fans.
Miss you Jay. Your epicness lives on!
Ken Coomer definitely has this classic rock drummer thing going for him. Just hits hard.
Being There is fantastic.
Your right. I shouldn't argue over small points. Life is too short and there is plenty of Wilco to listen to.
THE BEST VERSION OF WILCO. It all went downhill from here!
Jay Bennett was to Wilco as Chris Bell was to Big Star as Gram Parsons was to The Byrds. I imagine each of these guys in the afterlife...maybe wondering about the music...and why it all had to end so soon.
Great remark!
Wilco is love.
A.M. Being Summerteeth Yankee Wilco are my favs. New Wilco is still awesome, but they don't bring it the same
Remember this when it first aired. I recorded it on a VHS tape and played it for the bass player in our garage band. I wanted us to be the new Wilco. Crazy the thoughts you had in your youth.
Love Wilco! Past, present and future. They saved rock and roll. Love ya Jay R.I. P
Greatest rock song ever written! 💥
This album duped me into liking country :p
This older incarnation of Wilco has a whole different vibe. I kind of prefer it to the newer Wilco.
Yeah, definitly a great solo! RIP Jay
wow jay is soo good..
Coomer was (and is! Such a fucking fantastic drummer!
get the album Radio.....what a musical experience.......two discs of the same songs done to different music tempos...nice......love Wico...AM

wnt ever forget the good times and hardcore laughing and joking that we shared. cheers to yu kid... hope yu are doing good.
Way to become the first Wilco fan ever! OMG!
Good God YES! Wilco Wilco Wilco!!!!!
YOU ALL EVERYBODY! YOU ALL EVERYBODY!
🌹🌹🌹
I bet. I wish I could see them live :)
no doubt-
i prefer the 90`s WILCO!!

Gotta agree on Jay. Although I love all of their stuff...the earlier albums are looser...and that's why I like them more. Jay is amazing and I wish he were still with the band.
the good old days
When watching golden age Wilco one can tell Jay had a special legendary aura. RIP
You cant compare who is better!!
They are totally different bands now.
They have always been good live. They are alot tighter now as there is more emph on musicianship.
I miss the old Wilco with Jay and Ken.
Jay and Jeff, smile
@JedifuzzMojo you`re so damn right!!!
A.M. & Being There are THE Wilco- Albums!!!!
makes perfect sense
i'm here for the solo

13 years passed, they got old but still one of the best bands around.
JAY.
Before the purge. I love the first 2 records.
arrested development..
titanic love affair!!!!!!!!!
fucking boss, some good ol' Wilco
bl8tmate- I IMAGINE the afterlife to be something different! Cheers.
rip jay
Jay Bennett a la lira... enorme.

I agree with you at 99,99% ;-b

Delicious.
Jeff looks like Michael Bluth in this video.
This reminds me a bit of a Teenage Fanclub song.
Jedi & Jay, if you're partial to the early stuff you should have liked the last two releases right? Sky Blue Sky and Wilco both got back to a more straight forward sound I thought.
Nice pants Jay, ha.
sounds more like a Big Star song than a Beatles tune
Jay Bennett was great for this band.
Is that Robby Baker on the far right ?
early wilco
Glen Kotche may be a better drummer technically... but I really admire Ken Coomer. I would KILL to have him in my band.
I miss Mike Heidorn
where's Glen???
@alfrecorcheator 100%... ;-))
I think it was a dark time between Jay and Nels...
I'm watching this over and over to try to find out why Ken keeps switching his lead hand. He's just over complicating a not complicated song. Oh well, still sounds great.
he's just having a little fun. in the name of Rock and roll
Still my favorite Wilco album, though I know I'm in the minority on that. I just never got the later stuff (after Summerteeth). It just got to far from "rock" for me.
This is one of the reasons Glenn Kotche is a better drummer
