Andreas, thanks for the fast reply I had asked this question. I ended up purchasing a GPS repeater assy that gets power from usb Port in the vehicle. Just crazy Yaesu is just so vague about what antenna to use or even just recommend a product. I called Yaesu and the person did say the antenna must be powered and provide NMEA Data. Thanks again

"The radio has a built in GPS module which is installed in the control head, if the control head has a decent view of the sky then an external antenna would not be necessary, there is a 2.5mm jack for the connection of an external GPS antenna but I have no list of compatible devices or recommendation for you, you would most probably be required to fabricate your own cable. - Endaf Buckley"
