- CONGRATULATIONS to student Beth on completing her Qualifying Cross Country (QXC) Having flown both land aways just the week before, Beth was well prepared for her next milestone. After a misty start again the Jet Ranger brought out the sun and once planned, briefed and aircraft checked it was Beth’s time to shine! Jump aboard as Capt White waves her off from Elstree and watch to end to hear start-up at Duxford.
Beth took the whole day in her stride and look how delighted she was and rightly so. Well done Beth, now it’s on to the final chapter of your PPL training, building and finessing those skills and confidence around the UK later this month.
“I am proud of myself and so grateful to Paul for helping me to achieve this milestone in my flying. My experience had been postponed due to the unpredictable, British windy weather and I was worried it might be again when I opened my curtains to mist (in May?!). However, after planning and a full MATED brief the cloud had dissipated, I was ready to go. My lifts, lands, transitions and approaches were more confident and controlled so I was pleased with those. My highlight was flying over two of my favourite places, the safari park and Paris House in Woburn. There’s also something strangely exhilarating about flying past a wind farm. Although it wasn’t crystal clear, the skies were beautiful and winds calm. I spoke to some lovely people whilst at the away airfields. I absolutely loved the whole day and I can’t wait to fly around the UK using all my improving chopper, Radio and Nav skills.” - Beth Fisher

I know that feeling of nervous excitement, when you get to fly solo for the first time, and the complete feeling of ecstasy and achievement, when you have completed the mission without any hiccups. I had butterflies for this lady all over again. It was wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent video and a nice smooth flight. I'd shoot the pen holder on the kneeboard and look for a different design though! It didn't look to easy to locate the pencil.
Having just done this flight quite recently as part of my fixed wing PPL at FTL, was fun to see it from a helicopter perspective! Brilliant stuff. PPL(H) in a turbine is awesome, what a treat.

Bravo Beth! That was very enjoyable and professional - congratulations on your cross country, you will pass with "flying" colours!
Congratulations Beth! I can only imagine how daunting the prospect of being totally in control of an entire cross country flight is.
You have an excellent, methodical and calm approach though so it was probably as easy as you made it look.
The beautiful JetRanger is an aircraft I have had a love affair with since I was 7 and although I am unlikely to ever achieve what you have, I have been lucky enough to fly one.
Needless to say, if you ever need a passenger... look me up 😂
Very nicely done Beth. @paul I remember bumping into you at Duxford around Christmas time some years ago
Well done. Brilliant
Greetings from Toronto Canada, Beautifully done ,would be nice to have heard you chatting with ATC . Maybe the next video ,cheers and be safe .
Great job Beth, beautifully flown !! Well done girl ! xx
Good on you Girl 🙏😀
It was great to see this, well done, I was envious, many times wanted to do a heli ppl.
Congratulations
Beth you got this one cross country done
congratulations!
Save the Rotor Brakes and Great job flying
would of been to hear you chatting with the ATC.
headsets aren't micced up
Be good to hear ATC as well
well done Beth, can these planes fly in a thunderstorm or are they restricted, ? look forward to more videos
Beth needs to look out more, when manoeuvring around the Airfield she didn't check her R/H area before lift or hover taxi ,where it seems a lot of fixed wing aircraft are taxying. I know how busy Elstree can get as I flew from Stapleford for many years and the area is very busy with transit aircraft and the London Heathrow TMA above
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
That Gyro sounds makes me want to run away
Missing the ATC transmissions.....!!
headset not micced
Great video until the music.
Yeah I know it's not my video but I like the helicopter sounds, maybe some ATC but no music.
Unfortunately the Jet Ranger sound on fast forward is dreadful so has to be muted. You can't hear ATC as headset not micced up and you can't hear via go pro over the noise of the heli.
Did he inform her that hearing the igniters is a good sign? If a student needs an instructor monitoring an engine start they shouldn't be flying solo.
Did you consider that perhaps she already knew that?
The igniters had a weird blip the day before - knowledge is power
Wich helicopter?
It's in the title.

There’s something very special about a woman flying a chopper. I think that makes me a misogynist. I’m 70 so that’s my only excuse.
Good for you sweetheart! It was always my lifetime dream to fly choppers! Too expensive now, even here in Florida where I live now! Although I believe it’s still way cheaper than ripoff uk 🇬🇧??
