in AV, to win candidate need more than 50%, in STV, a fixed no. of votes( called quota); in AV, constituency select one representative, in STV generally constituency are larger with multi member representation; in AV the extra vote, over 50 % go waste; in SYV, the extra vote above the quota are also transferred to other candidate- no vote go waste- proportionality is higher; in STV people may choose candidate of different parties as their representatives; i understand ur confusion...both are very similar...
Your explanation is literally unmatchable. Sir, in STV example, during elimination of B, if a voter given 2nd preference to A and 3rd to C then, we will go for second preference or 3rd as 3rd is eliminated before?

Very much like STV with only difference that only one candidate is elected instead of many in STV; voters voters rank candidates in order of preference. If any single candidate receives a majority of first-preference votes, that candidate is declared elected. If no candidate gets the majority of 1st preference votes, the last-place candidate is eliminated and that candidate’s second preferences are re-allotted to others and so on until a candidate gets the majority votes.
