      Thank you for the wonderful comment!! I really appreciate that!
      $7.00 for a good data plan is crazy right!? We could barely believe it when we first saw the price.
      We also had an E-Sim before and it's way more expensive. It is nice to have for being in transit so you have a working phone as soon as you land in a new country. But if you're planning to stay in one place for an extended period of time like we are, then it's definitely worth looking into a local SIM card.
      As for the dog meat, I don't know how they pitch it to foreigners, But we will be staying far away from it! haha
      (There will be lots more Vietnam videos to come!)

    Mosquitoes have been feasting on since arriving here in September. Highly recommend to get bug spray here lol

    • @expatescapeofficial

      Thats strange, we haven't had many bugs at all. I generally get swarmed with mosquitos everywhere I go, but luckily Da Nang has been by far the best place I've travelled so far for bugs. The only time we really noticed any bugs and put bug spray on is sitting outside at night.
      If you have alot, It could be the area you're in, or if there's any standing water in the area near you that would make it worse.

    Love your honest discription of life in Canada. And now in Da Nang.
    Most young couples in the Usa, also work long hours, eating simply at home to afford their bills.
    I traveled the globe, off and on, 40 years, helping people speak english.. Its easy to bond with wonderful people from different cultures by helping them. It feels wonderful when parents can dramatically improve their lives in better careers thru becoming fluent in a second language.

      When we set out to start a UA-cam channel, one thing I really wanted to incorporate into it was, anytime we gave a review on something I wanted to give people the unfiltered review that UA-cam is lacking. I wanted to give the no B-S version of the reality of doing these things and going to these new places so future travellers don't get a false sense of the reality from all the clickbait traps out there.

    Really informative video. Hotels are really good value as well in Danang. Couldn't help chuckling over the dog meat/thit cho. Yes it's available mainly in the north, rural areas and back streets of cities. If you see a place advertising Thit Cho you know it's dog meat. It's becoming less common especially with young people. Locals love to pull tourists legs by telling them that local restaurants are serving it. Much like us Aussies like to convince tourists that drop bears are real and will drop down from trees and attack them. The truth is it's perfectly safe to eat in local eateries with the little chairs as well as street food.

    Thanks so much for making this video! I’m going to leave Australia and first stop is Da Nang next year!
    One question do they check if you have a return/onward ticket? Can i get a one way and go from there? Also do you need any vaccinations?

      Thanks for the comment!
      So, for onward travel tickets: When we came to Da Nang it was our first time here and we also had 1 way tickets. We also were not sure if we would need onward tickets so we did book 2 cheap ones online as a precaution. I think we used onward ticket.com. You can book it just before you leave and it's good for around 24-48 hrs I believe. The cost is quite cheap, if I remember correctly I think it cost between 15-20$ CAD each. However the airline didn't ask us for proof of onward travel when we boarded our flight and they didn't ask for it at the airport check-in in Da Nang either. Others may have had a different experience, but for our particular case we didn't need them at all.
      As for vaccines, we did have some vaccines updated a while back. I can't remember exactly which one's we had off the top of my head. It would be a good idea to speak with a doctor or vaccine centre about that. Let them know what area's you plan to travel too and they should be able to direct youth what vaccines you do/don't need in that region.
      Hope that helps,
      Have good trip!

    Greatbinfo. Good that there's few bugs, etc...was curious about sand flies like many mention when they go on all-inclusives. Beautiful beach.

    Where do you buy your water bottles? best price i could find was 35k

    • @expatescapeofficial
      @expatescapeofficial  6 годин тому

      We've been getting ours over on An Thuong 3. There's a tiny store beside "La Spa" (east side of the road, about half way down, directly across from Dhaba Indian Restaurant). You will see the cage out front of the store with the water jugs in it. It's just to the right of the entrance to La Spa. We pay 45k for the first bottle, because of the deposit I guess, but every time we go back for a new one we only pay 25k if we return the old bottle. Hope that helps!

    30 hour flight from Canada wtf !

    • @expatescapeofficial
      @expatescapeofficial  12 днів тому

      For the total trip yes, it's about a 30 hours or a little more. (not a single 30hr flight) A Very Long Day! Luckily, Eva Air makes it a very comfortable trip!
