I'm very interested in this release. I have a pretty good 2 CD "One Hand Clapping" bootleg. CD 1 has excellent quality studio recordings from the sessions. All are on this official release, except for an alternate take of "Junior's Farm". CD 2 has the full soundtrack of the original "One Hand Clapping" documentary film. Which has every song on CD 1/ LP 1 here. Plus, the piano segment song "Suicide", which was left off this release, possibly due to P.C. reasons. And there's a different take of "Junior's Farm", not the one on CD 2/ LP 2 here. Coincidently, the film version on the "Band On The Run" archive set is also missing those two songs from the original documentary film. However, this official release contains many songs not on my bootleg. Supposedly, when the original director, David Litchfield passed away a few years ago, his family found the original video elements for "One Hand Clapping". And they were returned to MPL. Which makes me wonder why they didn't restore the original footage and add more performances on a DVD or Blu-Ray, to add to the 2 CD set. Rumors are, a new edit was restored/ remastered and will be posted on Paul's UA-cam channel. I hope this is true. I would love to have the footage re-edited as more of a concert than a documentary. Without the voiceovers from the band members. The film looks very poor on the "Band On The Run" archive set. Rumors are, it was taken from an L.A. TV station's copy. As Paul did not have the video in his archives. But, they supposedly do now, and have done something with it.
This was never intended to be an lp. He was going to make a tv special of these sessions which I’m pretty sure would have been for the upcoming 75/76 tour. For whatever reason he never finished it. Maybe because the drummer got changed or maybe it didn’t do what he wanted it to. Although the video of the aborted show have circulated, never in especially good quality. This lp actually has more than the special he had planned. Hopefully he’ll put it up to promote this lp. Pity it simply wasn’t included.
At Last!!! I knew, I've been hoping and waiting for such a release since the very day 20 years ago I learnt about that 1974 project. And I was wondering why did Paul stopped adding the other OHC tracks to his corresponding Archive releases? There were no OHC Wild Life or Hi, Hi, Hi on 2018 Wild Life Archive, no OHC My Love on 2018 Red Rose Speedway Archive... And now we can see the reason: he decided to release the full albumof those tracks, what a good news! 👍👍👍
I didn’t realize how many unreleased songs were on here. Also, the bonus vinyl 7 inch record also has unreleased songs, but I’m getting the CD version.
lol. It’s actually a royalty free track from iMovie that anyone can use if they have the program. I started using it, because I noticed that some channels had a really long intros and thought they should just get me the video as soon as possible LOL
I’m very excited about this. So glad to get a new release by Paul after so much rehashing lately. Though, even this has had it’s fair share issued. I’ll be picking up the CD and the LP with the bonus though.
Hello, great video I too have never really known of this. I look back At Paul’s work from the 70’s and it seems he had a few different tv specials I didn’t know there was to be an album release of the songs from the special. Many of the songs have been released I’ll probably get the cd or stream it to listen to it in the car. I’m more interested in a new studio album to be honest. Thanks for the video take care
I've just heard the version of "Junior's Farm" from this release, and I can confirm that it isn't the version from the original "One Hand Clapping" film. In the film version, Paul says, "Take me down, James", before the first guitar solo. On this version, he says the more common, "Take me down, Jimmy".
I shall get this as Paul and the band sound terrific, but London Town and Back To The Egg would've and should've had priority. It's a really stupid thing that some of McCartney's releases are not readily available.
Love McCartney and London Town but Back to the egg was not a strong effort. I remember purchasing the lp when it was originally released and being so disappointed. It was also one of his worst sellers from that era.
@@larryowens3704 "Back To The Egg" was a fairly poor seller for Wings. But, it has been positively re-appraised over time. People like that the album has a tougher, new wave sound. I'm not a big fan of most of Side Two, but I think Side One is one of Paul's best album sides.
It’s a shame the EPs six songs will not be on the CDs edition. I have heard the “One Hand Clapping” footage wasn’t of good enough quality for a DVD / Blu-ray release!
I’m interested to hear this - Macca was on top form vocally at this point. The only thing I’d saw about McCartney is that his live performances often play it too safe. Like he’s recreating the studio version. I find some of them a bit pedestrian.

So I've pre ordered both the 2 LP set with the EP and the 2 CD set. I would've liked to have seen a restored copy of the video in with this release, but that dosen't look likely.
True. The recordings from the "Backyard" segment are only available on an exclusive website edition of the 2 LP set. They are on a bonus E.P. It's a shame they were left off the CD. Plus, the piano segment song, "Suicide" doesn't appear on either the CD or the LP set. And "Junior's Farm" is supposedly different to the performance featured in the original film. Still, there's a lot of great performances on this new official release.
