You have no idea how much I want my future home to look like yours when I get to that point of living on my own. Right now I’m working on culminating my many notebooks and having my daily journals and my devotionals into one journal. So yep I ripped pages out and moved stuff around to get everything right as to not waste paper 😄 but I do like having everything in one area...also having “less” truly is so nice in life as it decreases worry and moves the need for “more”.😊🥰 AND your girl is doing to 365 day devo through the Bible app and am so happy to be in Gods word for a whole year!🌸✨💗

There are so many UA-camrs that I personally feel don't express how minimalism can be handled and give a misconception on how it impacts peoples lives so I am really grateful for your account! I've been following for almost two years and have slowly taken everything in while shaping my lifestyle into a more minimalistic, slow lifestyle. YOU DA BOMB!!!

Another great well timed video Christine, something God has been showing me lately is about contentment, and how influenced I can get while seeing others lives, instead of focusing on mine with gratitude for all He has given me. My main struggle in decluttering is my art room, whilst quite minimal in reality I still keep things, just in case, so I am praying for wisdom on what to keep. Many thanks for your encouragement, blessings from Australia

    Hopefully when people declutter
    they recycle glass, paper, metal
    and..... all seperately. Make sure
it does not go to landffill if you live
say in USA or.... Also rather leave
things outside you house, you may
find a neighbour or.... will be happy
to have it. This is what we do here
    in Switzerland. We have facilities
    here for recycling things separately.
    Nice tips Christine. Thanks.

    • @simplybychristine

Thank you! I wish we could go to facilities for separate materials. Unfortunately it's all one waste stream here and it gets sorted from there. We can try our best though!

It's really common in most neighborhoods in the US that if you leave items on the curb like furniture, people who need it will come and pick it up. I put my old couch and a desk on the curb and a couple came and collected it for their new apartment.

    • @elly8353

I agree, but people also need to remember that not everything is recyclable. Most household glass, like kitchenware, drinking glasses, etc. can't be put in the recycling because of the potentially vastly different composition and melting points. Check on the brand's site, or look up local recycling rules. Even better, as 11 1 says, donate these goods or give them to friends/family.

I don't make a box and put it away in the garage, that's too much of a temptation. Once I put it in my mind that I don't need it and I haven't used it for 3 months I do not second-guess my common sense.
I just say to myself "get rid of it, don't look at it and don't care about it"!
Enough is enough! Sometimes you have to get ruthless with yourself. I used to have several towels now I have two large ones. two face cloths, and two hand towels. I figured that should be enough for one person.
But if you really wanted to make your life simple all you need is one towel one hand tell and one face cloth. And wash them when they need to be washed.
When I finish eating I wash my plate and my Cutlery right away and I put it back into the cupboard. I don't have two forks two knives two of anything..I only have one fork one knife one spoon One Bowl One Plate and one cup and one glass. If you have more than one of everything you become lazy at cleaning dishes.. I remember going over to my neighbor's place and the dishes would be always piled on the counter . There was four people in the family and they had a place setting for I would say for 24 people!! Thier home was ALWAYS full of dirty dishes..maybe they should have let the dog lick the plate and put it back in the cuboard..lol..joking no that's how you get rid of company when you don't want them around anymore. If somebody comes to your house for supper every day all you do is put the plates on the floor in front of the Hozier as in you're over welcome guests and let them see the dogs lick your plate and then you say to your guests this is how we do our dishes saves a lot of time when you think hahaha and then put them up in the cupboard and let them see you put them up in the cupboard and then you reply now they're done clean dry and ready for the next time you come over. I knew somebody who did that because they couldn't say no to company that came over only for supper so after 3 months they decided to just do that. Right in front of the individual and they never came back for supper ever again. I don't think I could do that maybe once lol but I certainly wouldn't leave the cupboards full of dog licked plates I'd get them out of them as soon as the company left and put them in the dishwasher lol
And I told them that if they want to keep their house clean the dishes from piling up have everyone in the family wash their own plate don't keep going to the covered and grabbing more dishes . It just looks so dirty in there because they had their dishes also in a Cupboard hiding dirty can you believe that!!
my grandfather was that way, what he would do he would have something to eat go wash his plate and then he would put the plate back on the table and set his table for the next meal. One day I went to his house and I opened all his cupboards and they were all empty every single one..I asked him where is your plate and your cutlery and he says look on the table and so I looked on the kitchen table I saw that he had his plate there, he had a cup and saucer there. He had a fork, spoon and knife and that was it! he would make himself something to eat, then he sit down and eat, get up after he ate, and washed his dishes and put everything back on the table all over again for his next meal..talk about simple simple simple simple.
He had one pot one frying pan and he cooked everything in one pot.
He had one rake one shovel one of everything that he needed and that was it.
I think anxiety is created when we have too much of anything. When you have to work many hours to accumulate excessive amounts of possessions that can cause anxiety. And do we really need anxiety.

Unfortunately I don't live in the best climate to give advice on that since I'm in California, but I imagine that if I lived in a hot and cold climate, I'd have to have some sort of organization or system to store items for those seasons. When we used to live on the East Coast, we would store all of our winter clothes in our suitcases since it was more space-efficient, but do the best you can!

When I go shopping for groceries I buy enough food for two days that way everything is fresh in my mind for example if I want to eat apples and oranges for 2 days I figure out how many I'm going to eat for the two days if I only want one apple and one orange I only buy one apple and one orange for each day so that's two orange and two apples. I used to have a deep freeze and fill it up with food I don't do that anymore especially if the power went out you lose all your food and the food that has to be frozen is it really healthy everything should be fresh.
The mine should never be confused with constantly buying things and worrying about what to get rid of and worrying about what to buy life should be a lot easier than that. When we have to consume ourselves but becoming a minimalist we've already made the mistake of having too much.

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  4 роки тому +1

I would choose 1-5, or maybe 5-10 items you want to keep. The sad reality is that people do pass away, but it's not necessarily their belongings that are of importance, but who they are as people. As long as you have those few to remind you of those special moments, I think that should be sufficient. There's honestly not a 100% right way to go about it!

I don't like anything that is showing on the counter or on the shelves or in bookcases I don't like anything that indicates any sort of clutter on the outside on the counter I like to put everything away so there's nothing on the counter and there's no bookcases for people to look at and have all this clutter in the mind.
If there's two people on the house so should only be two plates to bowls to Forks two knives.
I have one set of sheets I don't have two.
That is a waste of space and it's impractical. I used to have several different blankets I only have two one for the winter such as a quilt and a light one for the summer.
I don't have any throw pillows on my couch because that's a distraction for me it's something else to handle. I used to have several pictures on my wall and I looked at it and said this is clutter to the mind now I only have one picture and that picture makes me feel happy.
I can't stand looking at a cupboard that has layers from the front to the back. You should be able to open your cupboard and that glance without moving at thing without searching for anything. And see exactly what you have in front of you. If you can't find what's in front of you as soon as your eyes going to the cupboards then you got way too much you're hoarding.

Hi Chris, I just wanted to know why are you religious, if it is your own decision or if it is because of a family tradition, thanks.

Christine has filmed a great clip on her journey and commitment to Christ. It's titled Testimony, from memory. It really encouraged me.

Please do not just throw away the stuff you declutter, I am not sure why many people tell others to do this. try selling it first, if it does not sell reduce the price. if it still does not sell offer it for free to someone. there are many online local facebook groups in most areas to sell stuff or to give away for free. as a last resort donate it to a 2nd hand store.
