      @Iyas kelu Why would an aging king worry about a little baby. Herod worried about the sons of his second wife, Miriam, whom he accused twice of having had an affair with men called Joseph. She was murdered by him and because of a conspiracy by his first son claiming the sons of Miriam are planning to kill Herod, he had them killed. Coincidentally, this happened exactly when the Bible speaks about him killing little children. He didn't kill little children, but he killed his own sons of Miriam, Alexander and Aristobulus. That's very likely where the legend about killing children really came from

    Chief Hatuey (died 2 February 1512) was a Taíno Cacique of the Hispaniola province of Guahaba. He lived from the late 15th until the early 16th century.
    Text under an apparent image of a statue of Chief Hatuey, read:
    "Before being burned alive by the Spaniards, chief Hatuey of the island of Hispanola was asked if he wanted to accept Christianity and go to Heaven. Hatuey asked if Spaniards go to Heaven, to which the priest [said] they do. Hatuey then stated that he’d rather go to hell where he wouldn’t see such cruel people."

      All religions (Judaism, Christianity, etc.) certainly have their flaws. However, Islam is abhorrent, given that Muhamad had a child-bride (pedophilia), condoned beating women until their skin turned green, approved of raping female slaves, even when their husbands where still alive, outlawed adoption after he took the wife of his adopted son, performed no miracles, etc. One good read of the Quran & Hadith will inform anyone that this cannot be from a loving God.

      I was thinking the other day, why is Rabbi singer so popular with Muslims? Now I have an answer

    • @AereForst
      @AereForst Рік тому +5

      @@bobfitz7886 It’s also because I rarely come across a Rabbi willing to be fair and truthful, let alone respectful of Islam in this day and age where it’s so easy, given the widespread social engineering to manufacture consent for bogus foreign wars and occupations.
      To be clear, this social engineering required the identification and scapegoating of an alien, diabolical Other, to permit mass consent for the Military-Industrial-Complex getting away with its objective. That Other was unfortunately Islam and the Muslims, the very people whose lands we illegally occupied and continue to.
      The program to demonize Islam has been quite successful, especially, following that spectacular false-flag attack, 9/11. Now virtually everyone in the West associates Islam with the buzzwords of “terrorism”, “backwardness” and “oppression”.
      But then comes along this intellectual giant, Rabbi Singer who can quote the Qur’an as easily as he can the Bible and the Tanakh and he’s not using the language of otherization and demagoguery. He’s actually engaging with Islam with dispassion and honesty and dare I say it, with kindness. Yes, these qualities make him one of us, People of Righteousness and Truth. We love him. It also helps that Islam and orthodox Judaism are very similar in many respects. We value Works in addition to Faith, we value ritual, supplication, modesty, the Law and above all, the fierce belief in a Unitarian God. We Muslims have gotten along with Jews for the greater part of our history, afforded the Jews to attain a Golden Age in Muslim Spain and then saved Jewry following the fall of Al-Andalus. The Islamic world saved the Jews by giving them sanctuary in its domains, unlike Christendom that was persecuting them along with Muslims during the Inquisition. So yes, Islam’s ties with Jews are ancient and for the greater part, good. They are People of the Book, after all. Rabbi Singer, in my opinion, fulfills the following verse in the Qur’an:
      “Surely, We sent down the Torah, wherein is guidance and light; thereby, the Prophets who had surrendered themselves gave judgment for those of Jewry, as did the masters and the rabbis, following such portion of God's Book as they were given to keep and were witnesses to”.
      Sura al-Ma'idah (“The Table”), 5:44

      Eternity is a big thing to risk. Regrett on this side of the grave means very little to the other. I don't want you to be lost.
      Isaiah 53
      1Who has believed our message?
      And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed
      2For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,
      And like a root out of parched ground;
      He has no stately form or majesty
      That we should look upon Him,
      Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.
      3He was despised and forsaken of men,
      A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
      And like one from whom men hide their face
      He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
      4Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
      And our sorrows He carried;
      Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
      Smitten of God, and afflicted.
      5But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
      He was crushed for our iniquities;
      The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
      And by His scourging we are healed.
      6All of us like sheep have gone astray,
      Each of us has turned to his own way;
      But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
      To fall on Him.
      7He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
      Yet He did not open His mouth;
      Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,
      And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,
      So He did not open His mouth.
      8By oppression and judgment He was taken away;
      And as for His generation, who considered
      That He was cut off out of the land of the living
      For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?
      9His grave was assigned with wicked men,
      Yet He was with a rich man in His death,
      Because He had done no violence,
      Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
      10But the LORD was pleased
      To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
      If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
      He will see His offspring,
      He will prolong His days,
      And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
      11As a result of the anguish of His soul,
      He will see it and be satisfied;
      By His knowledge the Righteous One,
      My Servant, will justify the many,
      As He will bear their iniquities.
      12Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
      And He will divide the booty with the strong;
      Because He poured out Himself to death,
      And was numbered with the transgressors;
      Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
      And interceded for the transgressors.

      Modern day Tanakh - Isaiah 9:5 "For a child has been born to us, a son given to us, and the authority is upon his shoulder, and the wondrous adviser, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, called his name, “the prince of peace.”"
      Dead sea scrolls - Isaiah 9:5 "For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will be on his shoulders. He is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace."
      the Septuagint- Isaiah 9:5 "For a child is born to us, and a son is given to us, whose government is upon his shoulder: and his name is called the Messenger of great counsel Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty One, Potentate, Prince of Peace, Father of the age to come, for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to him."
      Ask yourself honestly, who is deceiving who? Isn't it convenient how the words have changed since the rise of Christianity to suggest that the son to be born in Isaiah wouldn't include all those blasphemous titles that only God could be called by?

      @@rightousliving The story of Adam and Eve teaches how God forgives sin.
      The first chapter of Tanakh are the headlines of creation.
      God blesses Adam and Eve in the first chapter (Genesis 1:28).
      The following chapters give more details about Adam and Eve which teach humans how God forgives sin meaning anyone who is blessed by God like Adam and Eve are sinless on the Day of Resurrection.
      .
      1. In Genesis 3:14 the curse meaning the judgement of God is that the snake will “walk on its belly and will eat dust all the days of his life” meaning a snake is a reminder to humans not to sin.
      .
      2. In Genesis 3:16 the curse meaning the judgement of God on women is pain during birth which is a reminder to humans not to sin
      .
      3. In Genesis 3:17 the curse meaning the judgement of God on men is that he must work hard for his food all the days of his life which is a reminder to humans not to sin.
      .
      4. In Genesis 3:19 humans will return to dust which is a reminder to humans not to sin.
      .
      5. In Genesis 3:22 and Genesis 3:23 God said to his angels “man has become like one of us, having the ability of knowing good and evil, and now, in case he stretches his hand and also takes from the Tree of Life and eat and live forever God sent him out of the Garden of Eden to till the soil" (which is a reminder to humans not to sin).
      .
      6. From the beginning God planned to make Adam and Eve and their descendants the caretakers of the Earth because the name of God is that God knows the past, the present and the future.
      God trained Adam and Eve to know good and evil and to know the consequences of choosing good or evil and to know in Genesis 3:22 that humans are capable of everlasting life which is a reminder to humans not to sin.
      .
      7. In Genesis 4:7 God says to the children of Adam and Eve “if you improve (your behaviour), it (your sin) will be forgiven meaning God is teaching what God taught Adam and Eve meaning when you improve your behaviour your sins are forgiven and this is the message delivered by every prophet of God and this is the reason Jews pray to God 3 times each day or more and Muslims pray to God 5 times or more each day because every time you pray to God for forgiveness and return to good behaviour your sins are removed and you become sinless in the sight of God.
      .
      8. The story of Adam and Eve teaches that forgiveness comes from the mercy of God meaning when a human asks God to forgive them and they correct their behaviour then they are forgiven and this is the teaching of every prophet of God.
      .
      Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them (Adam and Eve meaning God forgave their sin); and God said to them (Adam and Eve): 'Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that crawls on the earth.'
      .
      Genesis 4:7 (To the children of Adam and Eve) "Is it not so (that from the time of your parents Adam and Eve) if you improve (your behaviour), it (your sins) will be forgiven to you (like the sins of Adam and Eve were forgiven in the first chapter of Tanakh which are the headlines of creation where God blesses Adam and Eve in Genesis 1:28 and in the following chapters God gave more details about Adam and Eve which teach humans how God forgives sin meaning anyone who is blessed by God like Adam and Eve in Genesis 1:28 are sinless on the Day of Resurrection) and if you do not improve (your behaviour) then sin couches (like a serpent, like a snake) at the door and it desires you (to sin by waiting to bite your heel so that a human might fall down from righteousness as explained by the story of the serpent in Genesis 3:15), but you (the human) may rule over it (meaning humans can overcome sin as explained in a story where a snake is waiting to bite your foot however all humans can rule over sin as easily as crushing the head of a snake in Genesis 3:15 by returning to righteousness through repenting to God and returning to good behaviour and this is confirmed by every prophet of God in Ecclesiastes 7:20, Proverbs 24:16, 1 Kings 8:46 - 8:50, Ezekiel 18:20 - 18:23, Isaiah 1:18, Isaiah 55:7, Hosea 6:6, Hosea 14:2 - 14:3 and Micah 6:6 - 6:8)."
      .
      Genesis 4:7 ”… but you can rule over it (sin, meaning humans can overcome evil and sin)."
      Genesis 4:7 If you improve (your behaviour) …”
      .
      Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, said the LORD; though your sins be as scarlet (very great), they shall be as white as snow (completely forgiven); though they be red like crimson (very great), they shall be as wool (completely forgiven).
      .
      Ezekiel 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die (a never ending death in Hell fire)? said the Lord God; and not rather that he should return from his ways (of wicked behaviour), and live (in Paradise)?
      Note 1. God offers Paradise to everyone who abandons bad behaviour and replaces it with good behaviour because God has no pleasure in sending anyone to Hell fire.

    I tried to post a long comment and now it’s gone or something. I really poured my heart out.
    Because I was or still am a Christian I’ve just started out with your vids now and now Bart Earhman. And I just feel like my world is exploding.
    I prayed to God to just lead me into absolute truth I just want the truth at all costs. This was 4 years into being a “born again “ believer. And I wanted to know first why the Jews rejected the messiah. Because when I first got saved I started off reformed Baptist then went more fundamental Baptist to more charismatic into Hebrew roots and now no labels no denominations.
    And now I know about all the holes and issues w New Testament to chew on.
    But there’s the same problems w the Old Testament too I guess. Derek has had a ton of guests on to refute it ajs hebrew scholars. And he refuses to have you on with them because he doesn’t want to scare you away he said.
    But I need a defense for all this stuff. If I can’t defend my old test faith either. Then I’ll just have a generic belief in God because I can’t deny that.
    😢 my worlds falling apart. And I wish you could clear some of this up on mythvision. Wish I never found that channel in a way. But I used to follow Derek on here when he did his drug talks because we were both on similar drugs and stuff. God bless you rabbi ❤️ you’ve been a blessing to me this far.
    I hope to hopefully talk to you sometime. I do have a Christian channel. I’m sorry I’m just always logged into this one.

      The authenticity of Moses is based on the public revelation at Sinai: God revealed Himself to the entire nation of Israel, at least three million people, and proclaimed before them the Ten Commandments. The entire Jewish people personally experienced that revelation, each individual in effect becoming a prophet, and each one verifying the experience of the other. With their own eyes they saw, and with their own ears they heard, as the Divine voice spoke to them, and also they heard God saying, "Moses, Moses, go tell them the following ..." They did not receive the occurrence of that event and accept it as some claim or tradition of an individual, but they experienced it themselves. That public revelation, therefore, authenticated the bona fide status of Moses as a prophet of God, and the Divine origin of the instructions he recorded in the Torah. That, and that alone, is the criterion for the belief in, and acceptance of, Moses and his teachings.

      @@bt-lt4os I meant contradictions and errors. Where it isn’t historically accurate. It’s got true stories in it, but also many stories that never happened, like the massacre of the innocents, the huge census to Bethlehem. Dead people walking around out of the grave. What day did Jesus get crucified? It depends on what gospel you read.
      Just do a side by side comparison of the resurrection account. Make a list of all the details and then compare the notes!
      Even the genealogies trying to show Joseph line goes back to David.. you have different names for different gospels.. why? Because whoever copied those copied from someone else who made a mistake. And then when you get “John” really pushing the point no Jesus is from everlasting and was in the beginning etc. So if Jesus real father supposed to be God and he’s now born of a virgin, then why even put those genealogies in there in the first place? It’s because the writers for the different gospels had different ideas about who the messiah is.

    • @Lestibournes

      The point of the Tanach is to teach about Gd, morality, and his relationship with Israel and their purpose. It contains history, but it's not a history book. Thus we have no problem saying that the stories about events that weren't witnessed by the nation are made up for the purpose of teaching an idea, or that they might be based on earlier stories from other cultures or religions. The Torah was given to correct the culture and religion of the time, which had strayed into idolatry and immorality. It is reactionary and revolutionary. Some of the commandments are a reaction to other cultures and religions. There is the opinion in Judaism that the sacrifices were only mandated to provide a kosher alternative to idolatrous practices, for example.
      I haven't listened to those critical lectures you have, but I think that understanding the above (and the comment above about why Jews believe what the text says in the first place), is enough to answer most arguments.

    • @Lestibournes
      @Lestibournes Рік тому

      Also, many sites referred to in the Bible have apparently been found, such as Joshua's alter.
      There's a claim that the story in Joshua about the miraculous destruction of the walls of Jericho is false because the archeological evidence shows that they weren't destroyed at that time, but putting aside the question of whether they're using the correct date, I recently saw a claim that the Biblical city of Jericho is not at the site that is currently identified as Jericho, so they might have the wrong place.
      Secular scholars like to claim that the Exodus couldn't happen because the story doesn't fit the archeological evidence for the time period, but they seem to examine every date except for the Biblical date of the Exodus.
      "The Exodus took place in -1450 but at that time there's no evidence of a calamity in Egypt, thus the story is made up"
      But according to the Bible and the Jewish traditional count of the years the Exodus took place around -1312. Why are you examining a different date?
      So there are problems with Biblical criticism. Nothing is new under the sun, and many of today's arguments were already answered 1000 years ago.

    Rabbi Singer's discussion of the contributions of Christianity to the Holocaust at the opening of this discussion is right on the mark. I interpret Nazism as a secularized, racialized, pseudo-scientific rendition of the classical Christian concepts salvation/damnation, particularly its Protestant/evangelical version. I had a fundamentalist family member who became more anti-Semitic after reading the anti-Jewish parts of the New Testament in more depth. The Holocaust was the logical culmination of the idea that Jews and others considered heretics by Christian orthodoxy are damned to hell. Hitler just sped up the process from a Christian perspective. This discussion also fits with my theory that much of the New Testament was originally written by Simonians and Marcionites, but later redacted by the proto-orthodox.

    The "unknown god" mentioned in Acts 17:23 was not represented by an idol or statue. Instead, it was an inscription on an altar. In ancient Athens, it was common for altars to have inscriptions dedicating them to various deities, including both well-known gods and lesser-known or unnamed gods. The altar with the inscription "to an unknown god" was essentially an empty space, not representing a specific deity with a physical idol or image. It was a way for the Athenians to acknowledge the possibility of the existence of gods they were not aware of or to show reverence to any divine being whose name was unknown to them. The Apostle Paul used this altar and its inscription as a starting point to introduce the Athenians to the Christian concept of the one true God.

    I have never met one Christian in my life who claimed to have anything but love for Jewish people. I have come to love Jewish people and Jewish culture more since my faith in Christ. Attributing things like the holocaust to Christianity is pretty dishonest considering many Bible believing Christians suffered and died at the hands of hitler, who obviously was not a christian in the slightest. But when you paint with such broad strokes there are so many things you do not see, or want to see. Anyone who follows the teachings of Yeshua with any actual conviction does not have hatred in their heart. Laugh but you know it is true, you cannot find a single thing Yeshua taught that would promote anything differently and that is why you have to grasp at air to try to pull something so ridiculous out of scripture that is simply not there.

      Just so that we know who will inherit eternal life and who will not Jesus said this:

      34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
      37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
      40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[f] you were doing it to me!’
      41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.[g] 42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

      @@WS-dd8ow I simply believe the Gospels. Has nothing to do with a church denomination. Early Christians were true to their word when they said they believed in Jesus and had to pay a price for their beliefs, They meant it and there was less room for deception. When Christianity was legalized in Rome it became easy for people to profess such a belief and therefore deceive themselves and others. They refused to put their “faith” into action so they reinterpreted the texts and created their own unique theology’s and practices. People who want to identify their faith with any man made theological beliefs will not find truth. What has been preserved by God is the truth and I follow Him because I know His voice.

    I did my studies in Yeshiva in Yerushali'im, found the discussions here most fascinating and at a very high level absolute truths. One must know the real basic arguments that exist between todays modern church doctrine and Judaism. Like Rabbi Singer and Dr Price , i also did studies on christian new testament and have come to many of same conclusions about todays church false doctrines, paganism, and antisemitic hatred of the Jewish people . Todays gentile church is not at all a good representation of Yeshua of Nazareth. it is interesting as a Jew that He did uphold Torah and the Sabbath, his main issue being with a few hypocritical leaders of the day (which btw got him into a heap of trouble and even killed), not with Judaism itself or the Jewish people as a whole. yet todays church doctrine and much of the new testament narrative writings are antisemitic and insinuate hatred toward the Jewish people which i find disgraceful and not from God of Israel, as i think Hashem does also. So one is left to ask how can new testament authors/writings be a divinely inspired word of God that teaches others such a way, when the greatest commandments are to "Love Hashem and Love your neighbor as yourself"??? In the end, the gentile church can never stand and it makes perfect clear sense that the gentile roman church from Rome Italy that is spread around the word today into many denominations are the descendants of Esav who migrated from Seir to Italy to receive their portion of the blessing, will be destroyed in the great day of the Lord, but in meantime we as Jews need to continually stand for Klal Israel that is lost inside a false church doctrine! May the word of the Lord continue to go forth from Yerushali'im and our people Klal Israel be saved by the God of Israel as is written according to Prophet Hosea, and Ve"Ahavta Et HaGer". Keep up Hashem's work Rabbi Singer, we love you dearly on this day and age. May Hashem do great things thru you in bringing the world into age of the Moshiach Ben David.
