    I usually mess up the metros! One time I placed stops and didn’t realize that I needed to make gradual corners so none of the lines would work! Definitely learned after that. Use the curved tool to make tracks and pay attention. 😅

      yeah that underground view needs to be more focused on the underground. It would be easier to see when building there there are problems.

      I learnt the hard way to always run parallel tracks, it makes life so much easier in the long run 🥲🥲

    Hi thanks for this. Silly question, but what is your definition of mid and late game?

    • @RedGingerRR
      @RedGingerRR  3 місяці тому +3

      That is a great question. I view mid game: you’ve hit ~50,000 cims and your city starts to become more dense (calling for higher capacity options because people are backed up at your bus stops). Late game I usually say when you have multiple distinct cities or regions across the map that would benefit from dedicated routes to move cims between the regions, while intending to remove traffic from highways. I use trains at “mid-game” to create outside connections, but I truly use them intramap once I start developing smaller communities around the map. Usually ending in a central hub which has other supporting transit options to move people within each community. Let me know if you have other questions or thoughts!

    what do you recommend if you see insane amounts of people waiting at bus stops? would that be a case of adding a tram line on the same route to assist? Or would it be better to get rid of that bus route and replace it all together with tram?
    And how do you know when to stop making stops for one route? is 10 enough? 50? 100? When do you know when to split the workload? Say I have a super long boulevard. One line for the whole length? if it's best to split it up, then when and how many new lines?

      These are awesome questions. Here are my thoughts and experiences:
      1. If there are many people queued at a bus stop and its for a specific route I would take the following actions prior to making changes.
      -Evaluate the route utilization - is it nearing 100%?
      -Follow the bus through the entire route. Are your cims getting off at one or two stops? Are there other stops that are popular for getting on?
      -Can I reasonably add buses or would it create too much congestion on the route?
      If you are nearing 100% utilization, your cims have some favorite stops and adding buses to the route is not feasible, then consider replacing the line, or a portion of the line with a tram. They are higher capacity and will help get the cims to those favorite stops. You can also replace some of the bus line with trams and keep a portion. Just make sure you have a bus stop near a tram stop so your cims can transfer easily. Having a bus line and a tram line running the same route creates congestion and confusion/cannibalization between the lines. 4:37 - you'll see that I layer the transit options. There is a bus station near a tram stop, in addition, both are next to a passenger train station and a metro station.
      2. Typically I make smaller bus routes that contain 5-15 stops that I think are objective. Some in neighborhoods, others near shopping and employment. Anything over 15 in my experience should be split out and a transfer point be established. I would consider a central point where a few bus lines meet. This has improved with the introduction of the small bus station that is available. I usually have one of those in each distinct neighborhood where the collections of buses meet and a tram and metro stop are near by. This would also apply for a long boulevard (if there is reason to have bus lines traveling the length.) Multiple bus lines would help manage the ridership and allow you to react to changes more timely vs a super long route that has 15 buses and 25 stops.
      Let me know if you have any other questions!!

      Magic…. Or the joys of a plop-able signature building! I was NOT going for a wacky city design so it hit the sack! But hopefully it demonstrates that like zoning and building, bad transit placement will stick out, prove to be inefficient and costly.
