You can’t really debate this because both are great in their own way. However, one is centerpiece to a show. The other is a well known character. Both are great!
You're right Walter. Originally Curly the Skelton was the Goosebumps mascot in the early 90s.. but by the late 90s/ early 2000s it started to shift towards curly AND slappy to eventually just Slappy as the main mascot, which hes been since about 2001
I think Slappy’s best outing is probably his first outing in the books on his own. His “I’ll turn your whole family against you and make them think you’re crazy until you submit to slavery.” plot was probably his most smart and it plays into the fear any child in that protagonist’s position of already being different but being turned against because it’s a quality you have. It’s actually a more clever story than any other Living Dummy book has done.
You know what let’s down the Zeebo episode that kid actor whose the lead. Would love to see that remade. As for Slappy vs Zeebo, Zeebo is scarier but you can get more mileage out of Slappy.
When I was a kid I could NOT watch the Zeebo episode. I developed a fear of clowns when one got his foot stuck in a bleacher seat directly in front of me at the circus when I was about 3, and kept struggling to get it out. He was probably walking over the seats to make me laugh but when he got stuck it made me confused and i started to cry lol.
I don't think they got the idea for slappy from Chucky of the childsplay movies. I think he was most likely inspired from the Twilight Zone episode "The Dummy" from 1962.
That’s a great episode of TZ. With Bride of the Living Dummy coming out the same year as Bride of Chucky, I think the similarities are there in some capacity with Chucky.
he was also in a reference in the episode of the crimson clown cause the kid puts up a video game cartridge called zeebo's big house and you can see zeebo the clown on the cover. zeebo the clown has been and will always be a childhood memory of mine and he is still with me in a way cause I still dream about that guy in my sleep and going into his spook house with all those doors with the numbers on them. oh and just cause slappy was used more don't mean shit. zeebo has that look and zeebo would crush slappy with no problem. I mean come on just look at zeebo. he has that look. out of every clown I have seen to be horrifying I say it's zeebo who takes the cake even more than pennywise and crimson cause that grin and those eyes and the fact they don't show him throughout the episode when he haunts the kid in the house unlike the one with crimson where you see him all the time, you don't see zeebo but hear his voice and see his footprint in the pudding and the balloon come under the door and you think you would see him show up when he brings the nose back to him but it's just a strobe light flashing to build more suspense and creepiness to the episode and the ending with the music and it having his laugh go off one last time with the creepy circus music as the camera pans to his cardboard head of zeebo the clown smoking the cigar in the end fits the episode perfectly. also remember how you said slappy was the mascot for goosebumps? well zeebo the clown is like the mascot for are you afraid of the dark cause even in the end credits they would have zeebo's voice talking when they were saying what was coming up next on snick it would sometimes have zeebo's voice saying on sniiiick ha ha ha with that demonic laugh of his cause I remembered how he sounded with his voice from the episode.
Yes please do The Ghastly Grinner vs. The Masked Mutant. I would say also do The Basement Demon vs. Dr. Brewer's clone from Stay Out of the Basement from Goosebumps.
Disagree. The fact that Goosebumps still uses Slappy is a valid point. That’s still talking about the character and how long lasting he is. Didn’t talk about the quality of both shows in general at all here.
@@WalterCulture The reason I say that is because Zeebo would probably be used more if they were still doing something with his show. What if the roles were reversed, Zeebo was from GB and Slappy is from Ayaotd. Would u have been more for Zeebo because he would've been getting more exposure?
It’s not all about the exposure. It’s how they’ve used him. People love Slappy. He’s been involved in more stories because he’s super popular and R.L. Stine loves having him around. And they are making an AYAotD movie so something is being done with the franchise. We’ll see if Zeebo is used in there. But Slappy has developed as a character. His storyline in the new GB movies shows considerable growth. You almost feel sympathy for him which makes him more well rounded. If the situations were reversed and Zeebo was used more, I wouldn’t automatically give it to him. It would be about the quality of the other episodes or stories he was involved it.
@@WalterCulture I agree with all your other points, I was just saying that when u said they're still using Slappy made it sound like u would've preferred Zeebo if his show had a bit more exposure like Slappy. Thanks for the reply
Look I'm a big fan of are you afraid of the dark and don't really care for goosebumps that much anymore. But even i recognize that slappy is far more popular and culturally relevant than any single character on any episode of are you afraid. He's more like an icon for the book and TV series as a whole rather than a single episode. That right there easily gives him the edge. I do like zebo more but again hes only in a single episode. It wouldn't been more appropriate to do dr fink or one of the other reoccurring characters but even then I wouldn't say any of them really represent the show as a whole like slappy has become synonymous with his show.
I have a soft spot for Slappy I was a goosebumps fan had the books and watched the shows
Yes so was I, and I had everything goosebumps. And was a big fan of both shows: are you afraid of the dark?& Goosebumps. Until it got me.
You can’t really debate this because both are great in their own way. However, one is centerpiece to a show. The other is a well known character. Both are great!

do 1 on monster blood ,mud monsters or blob vs the pool monster
I enjoyed the Goosebumps books as a kid and AYAOTD as a show. But Zeebo wins hands down for pure, unadulterated creep factor.
When I was a kid I could NOT watch the Zeebo episode. I developed a fear of clowns when one got his foot stuck in a bleacher seat directly in front of me at the circus when I was about 3, and kept struggling to get it out. Pennywise fucked me over when i was a kid he made me scared of clowns til I was 15 fucking Tim curry great actor but still wtf
Slappy would win man no doubt about that man
Love your videos man keep up the good work man
I love both of them but I'll have to pick slappy he's just too horrifying a doll is scarier than just a clown

That’s a great episode of TZ. With Bride of the Living Dummy coming out the same year as Bride of Chucky, I think the similarities are there in some capacity with Chucky.
Awesome_Walter yeah it’s probably a mix of both!
Slappy is a dummy chucky is a doll
Father AxeKeeper you release he wasn’t actually inspired by that? It was something else, a bit more.... creepy from R.L Stiens childhood?
This is an insult I made up for Slappy: Your head looks like something I pulled out of the dumpster!
Werewolve of fever swamp was my favorite goosebumps when i was a kid
Mine was the pussive mask the abomunubul snow man the werwolf and slapy
he was also in a reference in the episode of the crimson clown cause the kid puts up a video game cartridge called zeebo's big house and you can see zeebo the clown on the cover. zeebo the clown has been and will always be a childhood memory of mine and he is still with me in a way cause I still dream about that guy in my sleep and going into his spook house with all those doors with the numbers on them. oh and just cause slappy was used more don't mean shit. zeebo has that look and zeebo would crush slappy with no problem. I think next you should do a VS on the masked mutant and the ghastly grinder.
Could u tell the whole Channel awesome cast I said hi and happy Halloween please I would really appreciate it Walter thanks
Can you do slappy vs Mr black teeth
Interesting choices
how about the basement demon from ayaotd vs Kevin knave
Yes please do The Ghastly Grinner vs. The Masked Mutant. I would say also do The Basement Demon vs. Dr. Brewer's clone from Stay Out of the Basement from Goosebumps.
I think zeebo should have won
Make a rap battle with these 2
The clown look more scary
Slappy is my number 1 forever
Goosebumps
Zeebo The Clown vs Pennywise
Also do you know who Bozo the clown is
I don't find slappy Creepy myself. the clown in scarier, but I don't think the clown did anything in Are you afraid of the dark.
I luve klawns but i hat dolls!
He stalked the kid and followed him to his home for his nose.
I did vote the clown right?
SLAPPY’S NOT HAPPY!
Nither is Stine
Slappy vs. Chucky?
Slappy is forever a winner!
slappy slaps
I think when u said, they still use Slappy, makes this a Goosebumps vs AYAOTD episode not one about Slappy vs Zeebo.
