This is super easy with canvas shoes as well. Just pick up some fabric paint and a good shoe insert (to protect your feet). I also used nice ribbon for the laces, just had to tie off the ends.

I customized neon shoes I bought at shibuya 109 tower more than 10 years ago and the colour was totally worn out and as it was fabric I have sewn many beads I found and collected from broken accessories of mine/were given and I'm looking forward to walk Harajuku ground with them ♥

They look very, very cute, but does everything stay on? I feel like the paint on the soles will get nicked/peel off fairly easily and the stickers (even though strong glue was used) will fall off because they're being adhered to a slick surface. Has anyone actually done the legwork (wokka wokka) to test out the longevity of shoes decorated like this?
I feel like sealant/glaze/finish (especially one intended for outdoor use) should help protect the paint on the bottom and sides.
I just painted the rubber bit on the side of a pair of old galaxy shoes (I made these shoes 2 years ago with alcohol+ fabric markers) so maybe I can use that as a test? However all I had was Mod Podge and I only did one coat of protection (will add more today as I touch them up some more) so I guess I'll get back to you in a few months?
As for the stickers, maybe a few coats of finish will help keep them in place?
