They have recently installed a few nets in the southern areas of Morocco, close to the Sahara. And it is collecting a good amount of water for the use of villagers. God bless.
Excellent video ! On Maui was talk of cloudcather nets for dry areas. But it seems lack of funds or knowledge how to get funded, peope are still hauling water from town, 30 yrs later.
Beuatiful work, I am originally from Algeria and I know that we have parts of the country that water scarcity is a big problem. I love to see this project in Algeria. If I can help or if you need volenteers please let me know.
If combine this with salt water taken from the sea by pipes to the desert it could revive large płots od land for settlement. And help reduce carbon print.
It is amazing.. I'm fom the province of Sindh / Pakistan.. It has long Coast and area suffers from scaring the water. Hilly and arid areas have same shortage.. How this foundation can help in this regard?

Micro plastic is a good question but when u dont have water at all and thirsty u dont care so much about it and by the way I dont want to know how much microplastic people are consume from pet bottles I know is alot to.
Perhaps it serves to condense water vapour in gog without cooling artificially, by increasing surface area and accelerating radiation of latent heat if vaporisation and condensation
For the same time, effort and cost you could have installed solar panels and a solar pump to pump the water from the same well that they are getting it before the nets. It will be even cheaper and so much less maintenence. Except keeping the panels clean.
This is simply a net and a few channels. Far far FAAAAARRRR cheaper than expensive solar panels, drilling, pumping etc. And most people forget that installing these panels is one thing. But the expertise to maintain them is SEVERELY lacking, especially in such remote places like this.
Staking out sails on mountain tops with unbound edges and tying them down with commercial rubber bungee cords with open hooks connected to open hooks will start to come apart in the 60 or 70-mile-an-hour wind that comes it's way. There are way too many sharp wires ends and sharp metal brackets to shred the membrane. It must be inexpensive, but it is no excuse for an installation that has no chance of lasting. As a farmer. that faces dry weather to drought every year, but 3 or 5 out of the 65 years I've had a dog in the fight farming, they could have found people to train how to build the site, install and maintain the membranes. Any place it only rains twice a year, a steady water supply is important to many people. I don't know how it was done, but the narrator and the video gave the impression an NGO stuck steel poles in the ground and hired a bunch of indifferent locals to hang the fabric with minimum tools and equipment, then passed the lack of repair off as being to complex for locals. I've thought farm labor, some I couldn't understand as we spoke different languages new technology. It takes some time and repetition. Someone would have to spend time showing them how the system works and climbing ladders demonstrating repairs. You can't hand someone technology that appears to them as magic and expect them to understand and repair it.
If the site is susceptible to periodic fogs early in the morning, it will certainly work. (A clue may be to observe if there are any plants or moss on the stone in those areas). Everything will depend on the density of the fog and the correct storage of the collected water to avoid evaporation during the hottest hours.
I hope some billionaire takes up this project and finances as many projects as possible. It's insane that women and children are spending their days carrying water in this age. The netting shown is a great improvement and should be available at cost plus a small profit; perhaps a way could be made to 'knit' the nets from local indigenous materials such as rushes or grass?

Wonderful!!!!!
it works only with the presence of fog or in any climate condition?
Technolgy needs to be made on commercial scale so that water can be harvested in sufficent quantity at cheap rates for use of ordinary people.

how much humidity (at least) is needed to catch water from fog ?
is there role of speed of air in that particular area ?

Great video, but it was too short. I wanted to see the impact on the community it was having where it had been installed.

The Atacama desert fog water nets, were developed by Australia.

Wonderful. If the breeze were good enough, we could consider wind turbines to export electricity to Europe?like northstreams1&2?

what is the material that is used as a mesh

Since they positioned these fog catchers on the mountain they could pipe the water down using gravty.

But what happen when that nets get clogged up with stuff over time?
How do I get one? It has been out for some time and I have been searching diligently for a way to get it but have not found it for sale any place.
