it's becaus in sweden you can't be charged unless they actualy see your face. so if you never get cought and never show your face you can't be punished even though it's litteraly your car with your license plate that is in your name. you can't even get a speeding ticket from a speeding camera unless they see your face. so motorcycles are pretty mutch imune to the cameras. not that it actualy mathers sins theres like what 2working speeding cameras in the entire contry xD
I'm absolutely loving the amount of 5 cylinder audis that show up to those events. Huge part of the european drag racing scene and a personal favorite of mine, growing up with Walter Röhrl.
I'd like to see someone ditch the awd and go with a dedicated rwd/big tire chassis with the 5cyl Audi. They seem to be able to make good power, but seem awkward to launch.
by far my fav too. they need to step up and get some sequentials or dog boxes in those. The slow shifting and crappy gear ratios put them at quite the disadvantage

Impressed with how organized and fluent they pull these races off. Takes some good organization and communications. Glad to see spectators mostly out of the way a majority of the time.
Looks like the police don't really do anything. I bet it would be easy to host races if you could close off a major highway in the middle of the day with no repercussions.
@@borderwave2 trust me bro the police do alot to stop these races it’s generally not shown in videos but police chases 2 helicopters countless police interceptors blockades etc. if you have seen the Stockholm open with your own eyes you will understand the amazing job the organizers are doing. I mean it’s for a reason Kyle himself is saying that they can’t upload all videos from when they have been here in Stockholm. And it’s for a reason this one that’s from 2017 gets uploaded in 2021. The police are on their asses and it’s crazy that it keeps on going
The amount of "aint care" someone has to have to do a street race DIRECTLY in front of a cop with his radar gun out is astounding. I love the Stockholm Open so much.
You don't have to be faster than the police (but they likely are anyway), just faster than the guy who is closer to the police. I was winning a race though Seattle, and blew by the local PoPo. Well, they chased us for a minute, but ended up getting the guy behind me when he decided to pull-over. I pulled-over a bit ahead and watched as they made the guy get out at gun point and arrested him on the spot. The police expect you to stop. They get surprised when you don't, and suddenly, they have to drive in a way that they are not necessarily used to. They'd rather just make an easy arrest and be done with it.
according to swedish law (which is extremely liberal) the Police is not allowed to chase you if you go over 180 km/h in order to not endanger anyone, they can also not arrest you or give you a ticket on suspicion of committing a crime, they need to have caught you.... that is why so many people on olcation didnt care

Well yes, and no. There have been some straight up pro mod cars in the SO, but all the same they still HAVE to drive on public roads to get to the next spot...and most pure "race cars" are NOT suited for that haul. That the street is the equalizer is very much true in the Stockholm Open. :)

I stopped at a red light on a clear Sunday afternoon, wife in the passenger seat. Along comes a bright yellow 60s Camaro with a blower sticking out of the hood. The driver had a younger kid in the passenger seat, probably the guys son. There's no way I had near the power as he, but I revved the engine anyway, he revved his, and then the light turned green. I launched my little 'ole 302 , with its' worn-out posi rear, at about 2K RPM, and was off and running. He launched at a much higher RPM and blew the tires-off. They just sat there burning up the tires until the RPMs dropped enough for the tires to bite. By then, I was already half a block away.
I got to give it up to Kyle and the entire 1320 video crew. With all the drag racing we have here in the states you would think that's enough footage to be had. These guys go all over the world to get us action like no other. Even the big magazines didn't go all over the place for sanctioned events. You deserve everything you got and more .
I don’t want you to go back one of these years. I would love to see you go back every year. That’s so really awesome racing in Stockholm. It was my first time seeing it and I really enjoyed it. And I thought STREET OUTLAWS was bad, but this takes the whole cake. And I see how JJ the boss’ and the MEMPHIS STREET OUTLAWS win so many races. JJ does a arm drop, when jumps in the air his races takeoff. And naturally the other driver tries to , hence a chase is a race. These rules are used because it’s hard to sit and some drivers think they can catch up, BAD CHOICE. ALL I alike to see is good fair racing for every competitor and have and they be able to win the correct way. Do it some more Kyle. I’ll be watching for some more videos from 1320.
Please go back and do this again…. My dad and I watched this when you released it the first time and the whole time he just kept saying how the street outlaw guys didn’t have shit on these dudes. That they were at least REAL street cars (having to drive to the races, vs trailering in giant enclosed trailers).. Pretty awesome stuff

I remember when my family was on our way home from my football practice and when we were on our way home we somehow timed it exactly for when a race started. Most awesome night of my life.

There is a different adrenalin high than at the tracks. It taps into the fight or flight response having to get to the spot, race, and then get back and without getting caught, or an incident . The last part is challenge of how much power the street will hold, different surfaces = different amounts of tracktion.

Awesome experience, as an american i can honestly say that America is only the best country on earth if you have never been anywhere else, because some countries just really have life figured out, Sweden is one of them.
I think there's really no such thing as a "best country in the world". Sweden is great, but taxes are high, the wage ceiling is lower, gas prices are way higher and none of the cars you see in the video are legal. But some people prefer the tax benefits over paying lower taxes, so really it depends on the person.

This is so awesome and organized....they even have an ambulance on standby.....compared to the US street takeovers that just stop traffic to do donuts is just so impressive to see good organized street racing

I heard speeding tickets there are an percentage of income so some speeding tickets each year cost the drivier over 100,000$ equivalent

Sweden is great, but taxes are high, the wage ceiling is lower, gas prices are way higher and none of the cars you see in the video are legal. But some people prefer the tax benefits over paying lower taxes, so really it depends on the person.

There is no best country. I personally wouldn't enjoy half my paycheck getting yoinked by the government

15:50 I think i remember that one. It was a GTR and a V70 that had crashed real bad. I remember driving by a totaled GTR and V70 being towed away.
