Hello, I am studying Saint Benedict because I am a friend to the holy wisdom monetary in Maddison Wisconsin. It is a women's monetary. It is a very inspiring community
That is awesome to hear, I think it's fascinating that the rule of Saint Benedict and the monasteries that have been developed can still be seen in practice today. I am glad you've made a connection with this monastery and I hope your studies help illuminate the great tradition of the Benedictine monasteries.

My Knights of Columbus council stayed with the Benedictines at Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas last weekend for Ora et Labora. It was the second time for me. I love it every time we go. Peace like I have never experienced. Really enjoy helping them out with their work as well.
One of the great innovators in Western history, Benedict was pivotal in establishing the foundation of a way of life that ultimately helped stabilize Europe after the collapse of the Roman Empire in the 5th century A.D., or as it's now termed, C.E., that foundation being monasticism, saved from anarchy by being transformed into a workable, practical institution, primarily through the wide adoption of the Rule of St. Benedict. Though the latter was subject over the centuries to wide diversification of monastic orders & inevitable creation of organizing principles relevant to their respective religious objectives, it nevertheless was Benedict's Rule that made monasticism a crucial conduit capable of preserving & transmitting civilization in the West, until the turbulence of the Dark Ages at last subsided, a centuries-long process.
I'm glad you found this video, your situation is exactly why I tried to bring together this information in a digestible format. I hope it helped you with your project.
Very good video of an incredible saint but your music choice is distracting. Recommend using Gregorian chant when talking about Saint Benedict and other great saints.
Saint Benedict was the founder of all Christians scholar and the father of all early teaching who had battle with corruption in the Benedictine monestary
The monks who tried to poison St. Benedict!!! Was the shattering of the wine glass enough to bring them to their knees begging for forgiveness and honest repentance?
If you’re a Christian making a documentary about a Christian Saint, you should not use the terms “CE” and “BCE”. The very nature of your Christian faith should compel you to say B.C. and A.D. out of respect for our Lord and Savior who died for us. Don’t be afraid of offending non-Christians.
The European west prospered because of following the examples of the Bible which they took with them when they migrated to Americas and applied the same principles because if which they prospered to the currrnt srage. But sadly the youngsters of today have so much FREE-DOM that they have FORGOTTEN how hard their ancestors worked to make the west to bring to the current state as uf all they have now has dropped down from the sky and thry are the conttollers of even the rights of the individual.
As soon as this narrator used the phrase "CE" in lieu of "AD" it became difficult to trust anything he said thereafter. If you cannot acknowledge the historicity of the Savior, why should anyone trust your version of other historic events?
I understand your hesitancy in a world where you are unsure of the person behind the other screen. I’m a dedicated Christian, pastored a small rural church for 4 years, went to school doubled majored in Biblical studies and Preaching, got a Masters degree in New Testament Studies so I can understand Scripture and draw closer to God everyday. I made the video because I feel Benedict’s life can help many people today who are struggling with their faith. If me using a term in one section in one video makes you question the faith of another I think it would be wise to evaluate the severity of an issue like this. I make videos about Christian History because I think more Christian’s should know what the last 2000 years has looked like. But I can assure you I believe in the historicity of the cross and the resurrection of our Savior and I pray he uses these videos to reach all of the thousands of people I would never be able to reach in my local situation.
@ChristianBiographies thank you very much for your response. May God bless this ministry you have undertaken. I concur that a greater understanding of history could benefit many in today's world. But still have to question your choice of the meaningless term "common era" rather than the more historically precise one of "year of the Lord."
As for monasticism, it was invented by them; We did not ordain it for them, but (they adopted it) to seek Allah’s pleasure, then could not observe it as was due. So We gave the believers from among them their reward. And many of them are sinners.
Interesting viewpoint. Sinners are everywhere. Glutinous... even with using belongings especially if wrongly. (evil-computer for pornography vs. good-computer to get closer to God)
Imagine making a video about a Catholic saint and in the early moments citing the year as CE which eliminates reference to Christ for no other reason than to do so.
St Benedict bless 🙌 me with your light, bless my father’s soul, please.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video!! Those links are a great place to start learning more about Benedict and some of the context of his day.

Musical choice is difficult as Benedict predates even Pana Lingua Gloriosi which melody is of the 7th century.
What was music in the back ground loved it
bring peace st benedtict to our world AMEN,
Saint Benedict is also beloved here in Brazil 🇧🇷 !

dude, this is cool
Thanks!!
I recently read the rule of St. Benedict, good way to live but very strict.
For monastic life in the western empire.
I agree!

Christian Biographies and you're using CE/BCE?

As a channel called “Christian biographies” using the term “CE” instead of “AD” proves you can’t be taken seriously.

Exactly. A phoney
Nursia??.. why do you translate italian Norcia?

AD..... you are literally talking about the people who created the calendar and yet you use the ignorant CE....
