"This Masquerade" is a song written by American singer and musician Leon Russell. It was originally recorded in 1972 by Russell for his album Carney and as a B-side for the album's hit single "Tight Rope". The song was then covered on Helen Reddy's 1972 album, I Am Woman. It was then recorded by American vocal duo, the Carpenters, for their 1973 album Now & Then and as the B-side of the Carpenters's single "Please Mr. Postman". Three years later, "This Masquerade" was recorded by American singer and guitarist George Benson, who released it on his 1976 album, Breezin'. Benson's version, featuring Jorge Dalto on piano, was released as a single and became the first big hit of his career.

I remember hearing George Benson and thought man what a great song. George singing and his Guitar was magical to me. My favorite .Carpenters song is We only just begun. This song was the first for me to play the trumpet solo in the band. Of course now you have brought back this music in my life and you are Ohsome performing these songs.

One of my favorite Carpenters songs is I Just Fall in Love Again, which was covered also by Anne Murray whose dark smooth voice is similar to yours and that of Karen IMO. Simply masterful and stunning. Sangah's intuitive tone along w/her gorgeous vocalization makes this a real treat for the ears, including her command of the inflection of each note, the improv wizardry, and contrasting dynamics. My brain had too many places to go on this one... and in the end, just gave up and melted like butter across the entire song.

"Carpenters Friday" sounds great...one of my all time favourite groups! I learned Rainy Days and Mondays on the sax. I also play "Masquerade" and I would love to do a duet with you; BUT - I'm not at that level yet; although, there's nothing stopping me from playing along at home. ;) We all do our bit to "keep the music alive".
