As an adult, it's very clear to me that Belly has a huge connection with Conrad and that she wanted them to be able to be together. But the characters are very young, going through difficult times, especially Conrad who has just lost his mother. I think it's good that the characters are able to grow and develop before they get together. Because that's how it is in real life too, if you skip this process the relationship becomes self-destructive.

Also, thank you for this comment, cause all the comment sections I've seen so far set me off to trade my sleep for the two seasons of this. I was in shock, utter shock, like, why people even have this arguement going on like it isn't clear the only person Belly can be in a fair relationship with is Conrad because all the others just have random crushes on her and she decides that it is nice to try a new thing. Like, she is literally not good for Jere, so the "Jere's good for her (aT tHe MoMeNt)" doesn't make any sense. Like, it's exactly what Steven said "Conrad challenges her". Jere's only in on it for now because he's always had the "I'm the smaller brother" syndrome and the fact he saw Belly's pretty now and all that (and he also cares, just ike she does, but it still is not the same, 'cause he wants to be with her and she chooses him, 'cause he's the safe option). And the fact that the only JellyTeam person out there is Belly's best friend whose dating strategy is "care less than the other person, so you don't get you heart broke" (I love Taylor, but is she for real?), and jyst EVERYBODY else close to her (and not so close) notices her and Conrad. Like. Why. Do. People. Even. Argue. About. It. The only reason ut's messed up is because they're all messed up teenagers
But don't forget...Jeremiah lost a mother too. Not only Conrad. They have just different ways how they deal with the situation.

I think Jeremiah is good for Belly for many reasons. Supporting your partner is very important, which the entire cast agrees makes him the smart choice for Belly at this time. However they miss out on other qualities. They are best friends. Belly and Jeremiah get along so naturally and enjoy lots of the same things. I think it's easier for them to be happy together. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Conrad is a bad choice either. They were written this way to mess with readers, lol. I think in the end it all depends on who Belly will grow to be. Stages of your life changes things, yourself, how you view the world and what you want in life. This will all change for her. I like Jeremiah, I think he's good for her. It all depends how they're relationship develops.
He can be good for her for sure, but imp Conrad too. Conrad and Belly always gave each other these sparks, they always had that deep connection romatically Jere and Belly don't in my opinion. Conrad brings out a more mature person in Belly, she wants to be grown up and smart around him. He does know her so well he doesn't even have to think about it. They do want the same things from life. They do cherish their families and want to have the same in the future. Especially Conrad will want to have a loving family after everything wen down with his Mum & dad. He would always cherish Belly later on and make sure she was happy.
But yes I guess it does depend of the stages they are in. For now I think Belly and Jere deserve some happy times, Conrad needs to get away to heal and grow. I mean imo Belly should be single too for some time. Bc Jere and her jump into a relationship right away I feel like they are going to grow apart. Conrad will always be there in hr head and heart, it was just the wrong time for now.

@@Mamma_Mia_MiaI’m so confused with what you meant when you said Conrad would want to have a loving family after everything that happened with his mom and dad. Susannah and Adam were Jeremiah’s parents too, so you could easily say that Jeremiah would want a loving family as much as you think Conrad would. Plus, neither Belly or Conrad have said that they want a loving family in the future, so that whole part doesn’t even make any sense.
Based on the books, I think Jeremiah and Belly were right for each other during the time they were together. Meaning that they supported each other through 2 years of college and got to experience their "young love." Not saying the concept of young love is a bad thing at all, it's such a beautiful thing to experience. However, Belly needed to grow up and mature and live life to be ready to commit to Conrad. Conrad def needed to do some healing and maturing as well but that is what makes their love so meaningful at the end of the books. Conrad ends up waiting for her and then they come together when they are both their best selves to get married. As for the show, some parts of each relationship, team jelly and team bonrad, are definitely written differently. But that is what makes for good tv and why we all love watching so much. Jenny knows how to keep us on our toes. I have always rooted for Conrad and Belly, but after analyzing the show more (bc I'm a nerd) I think I'm understanding the "team belly" side and rooting for however Jenny decides to end the show. I can't wait for season 3!! ok, my novel is over now haha.

sorry for this personal preference and opinion but i dont want a conrad guy in my love life like at all. love is not enough, communication goes a long way and is v important in a relationship and having someone who constantly pushes me away when things get difficult fr him eventho im his loved one and not sticking to a firm decision w things and drains me mentally is SOOOO EXHAUSTING. i rather have a guy like jere who constantly makes me feel comfortable, happy and loved whenever im w him. also, a bestf to lovers trope?! i want tht so much 😭🤚🏼 gavin & lola hands down delivered their roles so well like the unreal and undeniable chemistry jere and belly has!! nah even jeremiah was being made to look better in the last elsiode in comparison to the books. It's not exclusive to conrads characters. What I think is that jenny han is making all these subtle changes in the show that she wished she wlikd have done originally in the books

Conrad is not very good written character. It's sad, especially how Chris could show so much more depth to him but the writing is terrible. Belly character is beyond awful and shallow.

Not really, she spelled out that she wanted Jer before Conrad took back his love for her. If your making the argument of because he was distant from her the whole season, so it made her go to Jer I would disagree. In the end I think this is best for Belly. She should be able to have a happy uncomplicated relationship for awhile, so choice or no choice I'm happy.
At first that's what I thought, but we saw In episode 8 when she makes her choice that she goes see Jeremiah first to tell him. So whatever Conrad said after didn't interfere, it just confirmed what she thought of him ( I mean that he has a habit of emotionally withholding).

Whoa deep, but spot on! Had Conrad never shut her out leading to their prom breakup she never would have just dumped him randomly and gone to Jer. I think her choice was made at the end of season one and whatever happened afterwards was more circumstantial rather than her own wish.
