this is what a GENIUS...AN ORIGINAL... A VISIONARY... AN ARTIST... A CONCEPTUALIST...is all about. thankyou whoever posted this. im inspired by by the simple but-of-course raga transcendental perfection of it. wow!
Also: How awesome were the early 60s, when scrubbed young white radicals who wanted to tear down Lincoln Center still wore tweed sportcoats and sweaters?
Until 2004 hardly anyone had heard anything he made. With the exception of a limited edition cassette that was released in Europe, no recordings were issued when he was a regularly active musician.
The Beatles were in Hamburg and Berlin back then, writing moon/June songs and playing recycled US blues for comparison. I know that ain't Kraut Rock, but I couldn't resist. But Flynt knew John Cale, and yes, the Krautists and everyone else lined up after him, so....
reminds me very much of the work of John Fahey, but from a totally different angle.
Well, now that's an interesting take. And I totally get it.
The first part of this sends me skywards.... Absolutely joyous...
I heard this endlessly through my pregnancy. I felt I was beyond the Earth.
Quoting one of the essays on his website, "Taking the fascism out of bluegrass."
As if bluegrass was fascistic to begin with. Moronic thing to say.
Yeah pretty dumb redneck used to mean the red bandana of Union coal miners in Appalachia.
David Grubbs' book 'RECORDS RUIN THE LANDSCAPE' brought me here. Great music. The book is great too...

The sense of fashion changes over history, so what seems to us cool and classy was pretty standard back then
