Thank you for sharing this inspiring, yet long overdue segment recognizing these military men. I look forward to watching Morgan Freeman’s presentation honoring them.
bravery is overcoming fear; if you are not afraid you cannot be brave. As one WWII combat veteran said, "There were guys that were scared to death all the time, almost shaking, but they did their job anyway...I really admired that."
I cried watching Morgan Freeman in this episode. I am part of a multi-cultural family. My little brother is black. He has experienced racial prejudice from police, teachers, and others, and we all survived a violent childhood. My brother overcame incredible odds growing up and became a role model to youth football by coaching and creating a league for them. He is a very successful business owner and an outstanding person of integrity, honor, and kindness. Wouldn't it be amazing if we, as a society, could acknowledge and embrace every color and religion and stop spewing the violent rhetoric? This is my hope. ❤
I can’t wait to watch the documentary! Morgan btw, most the army nurses who landed on D day plus five and went all the way through Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge! They were not recognized either, at the D day museum in New Orleans or in France. I agree with you it is time to change it.
MORGAN FREEMAN is one the best narrators in the world, he is not second as I couldn't choose between him and James Earl Jones if you had a gun to my head. I absolutely love listening to anything he is narrating, heaven would be the two of them narrating something together.
There is long-standing federal law that requires every publisher to send two copies of every newly published book to the Library Of Congress for preservation. The government does some perplexing things, but this story is a perfect example of why the two-book law is brilliant. I am retired military, and cannot wait to watch this documentary.
What a commendable and personal piece of hidden hustory on a screen gem. So amazing. Who knew. My kids' Grandpa was over there in a few too. Them were real sacrifices.
Not only this part of history with men of color was exempted from history, but there were also many stories of many peoples and many countries that were exempt from the history books for years. There was nothing to be noted in the history books attending school during the 50's, and even before. Not until some of our most brilliant film makers brought much of it to our attention on the big screen, and television.
I have immense respect for Mr. Freeman and all he has contributed to the arts and his people and country. It is why I was so disappointed when he adamantly stated that this country is obsessed with race. He basically denounced bringing up systemic racism as a reason for the continued oppression of his people. I wonder if his views have changed or at least he has become more sympathetic after researching this story. These brave men were ignored and their efforts forgotten BECAUSE they were African-American. Anyway, I truly hope he gets to do more with this story. I would so love a whole series.
It's just hard to believe these GI's could and did go overseas to defend a country that could not even treat them with the respect they deserved when they got home. To fight ,defend and come home to "Get to the back of the bus BOY"...is appalling !
Morgan Freeman is award winning actor that knows how great his friend Denzil Washington is as an actor. And Denzil Washington the greatest living actor working today is why our Nation is Great! When your supporting actor is Morgan Freeman and the main Actor is Denzil Washington you have an instant Classic Movie for the future generations! I’m very happy with the quality of both of these WORLD CLASS ACTORS WHO ARE MAKING AMERICANS FEEL GREAT WITH THEIR TALENT!
Unfortunately not until he had big money and a movie reputation that has stood the test of time. He needed both of these in order to get projects made.
Legendary you live along wealthy, healthy, lifestyle, blessed pick up my brother, black history. You are such a great person. I am proud of you as a black brother as well blessed.
I thank mr. Freeman for his service, but I disagree that you can take “black history “ and leave it to just American history, because like he was saying in this segment they was forgotten as soon as the war was over in 1945, it took African American historians like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to write a book about it,and president carter gave them a unit citation in 1977, 40 years later!! So yeah no “black history “ no one ☝️ is telling or remembering these types of stories…
Bob, think what he meant was that it should be taught concurrently not separately. i really wish at least one of us was in the book printing business . its the most viciously rcist corporate place and it is gatekept AF and that is one of the reason why knowledge is not spread easy like that
While I strongly agree this story must be told; I disagree that Band of Brothers was a story about white soldiers. Is the reporter forgetting the Hispanic solders in Easy Company? How about the American Indian soldiers in Easy Company?
HAH CBS censored my comment. It was Milley is a liar; and are you telling me that Chinese engineers hadn't accounted for the intercontinental gulf stream LOLOL. Seems like an awful waste of time and resources for the PLA, no?

not unheeded and Thank you not unnoticed. So sad that these are stories (and many more, the older I get the less I know) we all have to learn.
Someone should make a movie about “the Harlem Hellcats” who fought in WW1.

Thank You Mr.Morgan...
Hello. I was thinking about Morgan's role in the film, Glory (1989).
It would be a gift to all Americans for this book to be made public again. Please, someone, try to make this happen!

What a shame that honor and integrity are so rare, and how lucky we are that we have loyal Americans like Morgan Freeman.
Met him in nepal. Great thrill

His name is Denzel, not Denzil.
🚨someone needs a reality check🚨
WE LOVE MORGAN - I TRY AND WATCH EVERYTHING HE DOES. HISTORY WE NEVER KNEW. LOVE IT ALL.
When Morgan Freeman speaks...stuff comes into creation😊..
Unfortunately not until he had big money and a movie reputation that has stood the test of time. He needed both of these in order to get projects made.
And this is why it’s so important to correct the wrongs of the past.

I've always loved this actor.❤❤😊
"Worthy of Hollywood" you mean "too good for Hollywood."
Please tell me that’s Winton
The beating heart and soul of the USA is not the halls of congress or the White House but the library of congress.
