I like how even though the game came out years ago, people have still commented on this recently. It makes me happy that World of Goo isn't completely forgotten about yet. :^)
I love how the percussion and brass are super fast and staccato. The strings are slow and majestic, but you don’t consciously realize it. The song keeps building, faster and higher until the percussion suddenly stops and you’re left with just the strings. It’s like woah, this was slow the whole time, (it does actually get slower too.)
its really interesting to look at this song compared to the story of the game. WOG corp keeps growing and growing as they take and process more natural goo, but it ends up creating its own downfall. It's as though the strings is the nature and the building of the song is like the building of the corp, and once it falls it takes away all of the natural beauty it had processed into product with it
How is it that like half of this soundtrack is not in the game? Almost every individual theme has a part that isn't heard anywhere while playing the game, while it adds up so much to the piece. So glad I decided to listen to the whole album. I did not realize how much I missed after all these years!
Sometimes it's because they can't find a place for them in-game, so they're just unused. I imagine the last part this track would be used in a level like the final in Chapter 2 where the music changes toward the end of the level. Many tracks in the game, however, are sourced from Kyle Gabler's past projects and only use small excerpts from the originals during gameplay.
I remembered this song from years ago, didn't know the name of it or the game or was from, but i remembered how it sounded because it played through my head every now and again. No shazam or anything, just a chance encounter with UA-cam recommendations.
This song manages to keep building up tension the whole time. Fast staccato percussion and that key change! Then it suddenly releases it all and you get that feeling, the one when you realize you’ve been holding your breath this whole time.

I have so much nostalgia for this game and its music I remember watching my dad play it on the wii so many of the levels had such a haunting atmosphere
Sounds like music that would play when your trying to escape a collapsing building. And eventually you do, and the climax plays when the place completely collapses.
This song has always reminded me of the scene from the 1984 motion picture The Never-ending Story, where Atreyu goes through the swamps of sadness and his horse dies.
It seemed to me that there was a time limit on that level with rotating hexagons, and if I was late, then all the balls would die. I passed this level faster than others
