With the hit songs coming out many got on board to the Diana style but let me make it clear to you that Flo and Mary is what helped to round out the look and the groups singing which made them Supreme. Without Flo and Mary Diana Ross wouldn’t have been as big on her own because her looks and being thin wouldn’t have won right away. By 1967 with the mod scene and the thin model Twiggy being all the rage Diana would’ve been ok for she took advantage of that look and opportunity as a Supreme then as well. I just think it was a poor choice for Diana to BRING it up on national television in front of everyone. She didn't exactly know any better anyway. They were just babies in the game at this time doing a SUPREME job! BIG BUSINESS they were a part of! Bless them all.
Oh, she knew exactly what she was doing. She's always been a very calculating (some might say conniving) woman. That's been well documented by most of her fellow Motown artists.
@KeithCarter-cc2rf the 60’s is where you hear most of her antics came from. She was barely like this from the 70’s onward. She was a teen and 23 in the 60’s. That’s extremely young! She learned she would be better off solo and became a better person for learning that about herself. It is what it is
So much for the myth: Diana Ross has a powerful singing voice!! The more she sings: SHE ONLY GOT BETTER ! Lady Is A Tramp!! Job well done Ladies!!!!!
Yes. Lady is a Tramp was vocally splendid
RIP Johnny Carson a blast from the past taking me into my childhood nights watching television with my grandmother RIP Mae 😢 and wow Diana I guess always had star power but also was skin and bones lol 😆
I love me some MS. RAWS
Flo's last TV appearance
Contrary to many accounts, it actually wasn't. There was an appearance on What's My Line that came shortly after this, and I am thinking maybe one or two more.
What’s my line was a day before. This was their last appearance. They left for Washington then LA then Vegas
What’s My Line was g day done May 21, 1967. Johnny Carson was the next night May 22, 1967
Show closeups of Mary and Florence while they're performing- dipsticks! Diana you sure have trouble with that right earring- that same one came off during your "You Can't Hurry Love" performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Mary has a way of taking my breath away.
Diana Ross performing with the fabulous Florence Ballard.
HAHAHAhaha....that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. Without Diana Ross Flo and Mary would have been both been cleaning toilets at the Motown Museum for the rest of their lives. Stop trippin
@@thewizboy why don't you be quiet and stop bothering people you "Diana Ross Stan Bully." Half of you are just very negative and immature and very evil as well especially over a woman you don't even know for real.
Without Flo and Mary Ross would have been giving sewing lessons at the local Singer store. @@thewizboy
I was wondering if the Supremes official fan club which was huge at the time also felt as you do. I am assuming that many fans felt as you do so why didn't they form a separate fan club for Miss Diana Ross? That would have been the logical thing to do so that they could promote Ross leaving Mary and Florence behind so that Miss Diana Ross could stand on the stage by herself and not have to share any of the accolades with the toilet cleaners. @@thewizboy
@@boofusdeldooofus right. Diana Ross knew who the threat was in the Supremes.
Disna warned Flo and Mary by letting them know they have stand-ins and can be replaced.
Mary ssid, it was news to them and they were shocked.
Flo had such a commanding and authoritative voice - she would have been great in ministry
Wow!! Diana Ross!! Did She Say That Thing?? Replacement!! Them Two Could Be Replaced!! Except For Me. We Have Stand Ins!! Waiting In The Wings.
Like Johnny said -- luck plays a certain role -- but there is more to this entertainment world.. and Diana -- you are talented but the way you seem to take all the bows and applaud as IF IT WERE ONLY YOU-- THE 3 of the original --- were the BEST.. FLO--Mary--Diana....
You still crying about "mean Diana"...you wouldn't know the other two if it wasnt for her because it was her charisma and personality that put the over the top...Mary and Flo were a beautiful background for Diana to shine on...facts
@@mic6434 EXACTLY!!!!!! She is so sickening bc she comes to every Diana Ross interview or footage with the same crap
Girl please shut up and get over it… don’t you have anything else to do???
@@mic6434 Y’all seem to forget it was HDH that made the Supremes a popular act. Diana’s style and charisma wasn’t easily accepted by many because she looked like she was either crying or hurting by her facial features. I for one loved watching Flo and Mary because they were some sexy and beautiful woman. I’ll have to add Cindy Birdsong too.
@@Vincent50 but she was padding most of the time. Do her shape had nothing to do with the group. We really didn’t even see her real shape until she was leaving the group.
I'm dizzy 😵 🤪
Reading some of the comments below are upsetting. The Supremes are a musical group that produced a sound no one had heard up until that time. I know I was there. Can the guitar sound just as good without a drum ?? To say one was better or more deserving than the other is just stupid.. Together as a group they were Supreme and they did NOT sound the same after Flo left and why should they?? The only difference as well documented is Diana had the attention of the record label owner... What that brought along with it is another issue.. LOVE the original Supremes forever and always.
Well star quality is not just about talent. It’s also about personality and confidence. Diana is bold in this interview while the other two ladies are more timid.
@@heyheyhey40 Thank you, she literally stands out, big beautiful brown eyes, big hair, big personality. So it all stands out.
@@heyheyhey40 --Diana was to be given most of the attention.. BGordy ordered it.. Flo and Mary had to sit back and take it OR get fired.. true story..
@@realitychick8903 Well, what you’re saying is true and as I was saying…. In this interview, Diana showed us all why she was given that. At this time, it was clear that she was the most charismatic and quick witted.
And Diana Ross having an affair with the guy that pays the checks helped
I'd like to see AI take a crack at fixing this.
Diana is my vote for Queen of America.
In the stills for this clip on YT Diana Ross always looks like Cruella DeVille. But I'm sure she probably looked great in person and I believe she's wearing her own hair here.
I hope Diana new album is slamming and bumping like the good old days top 10s and number ones then she can really say and we can say she's the boss
No "slamming or bumping" on Diana's album...maybe SLEEPING.
@@k.n.carter8089 if this is true... All I can say is. Lord have mercy........ Thank you for your post.

The Entertainment Angel..-- always wants to HUMBLE those who need it.. lol--- she was too full of herself and thx to BGORDY -- a bratt that thought SHE was UNO NUMO... and yes -- she helped push Flo out of the group.. Diana was too stupid and naive to know about KARMA... today -- she does...

Blah, Blah, Blah, Without Tito, Michael Jackson would have Never Made it, The PIPS kept Gladys Knight afloat.
100% Garbage, Beyoncé never had to deal with all this Sour Grapes Crap.
DIANA ROSS WAS/IS the ONLY MAJOR STAR to come out of the Supremes
Maybe if Mr. Gordy would've made sure Mary Wilson or Florence Ballard became solo stars like Beyonce father did.
Because the other two were kicked to the curb that's why
