Finding a plastic straw or cup etc from the area I’m from in Scotland is legit impossible. All take aways, fast food places etc is paper cups, straws, containers .. I couldn’t tell you the last time I got food out & had any form of plastic 😅

Those paper cardboard straws have wheat in them and I have coeliac disease so I can’t use them at all so I have a collapsible portable straw but if I don’t have it with me then I just have to take the lids off and there’s no warning on them either and people have gotten sick from them. That’s actually how I found out from somebody else getting sick.

The Reason why Cali has these Laws with the straws and the utensils is because we are trying to reduce waste and to help our planet and the wild life. It’s Simple. Buy your own straws and utensils. 😊 and reuse your reusable cups. It saves money and cups from sb.
They don’t use paper because it’s recycled, they use it because it doesn’t end up stabbed through the organs of animals in the environment when we’re selfishly done with them and throw them away. So recycled plastic straws would also not be the answer.
