Right? I was 14 at the time the movie was out and felt some things were relatable. Also, it is just a good movie I am 32 now and those memories will always remain.
Man Lindsay Lohan was in her prime in 2004 when this came out. She was in Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and then Mean Girls all back to back. She was so beautiful in this movie and it’s so sad that she had such a drastic fall from grace. The media and society were cruel to her, she deserved so much better and could have been one of the best actresses of our generation. I’m still rooting for her to make a comeback, I just wish she didn’t look so different with the work she’s had done (and the drugs have also affected her looks as well). She’s still beautiful though and I wish her the best.
What are you talking about? She has been one of the greatest actors of all time. Most of her movies are all iconic. Can you say the same thing about Anne Hathaway ?
@@tayloralisonswift9544 Lol what? Name a Lindsay Lohan movie from the last 10 years that is considered “iconic.” And yes, Anne Hathaway has had an exceptional career and is still relevant after 20 years and has been in like a dozen iconic movies including The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada, Les Miserables, Brokeback Mountain, and way more. Not that they need to be compared.
@@stev6963 Do you really think a legend and iconic actor like Lindsay need to have a latest iconic movie so people won't call her underrated? Lindsay is so succesful and iconic. She is not underrated.
Notice that in the beginning of the movie, Cady mainly wore her hair in a ponytail and wore what some people would call “plain” or normal clothing. When she joins the plastics, she lets her hair down more and wears outfits and makeup that identify her more as “plastic”. At the end, notice that she is wearing a plain white shirt and black pants, but still lets her hair down. It shows that she developed her own sense of style, but not as over-the-top when she was “plastic”. She still looks pretty, but she doesn’t accessorize herself as much. So her style now shows that she’s an actual human being.
The sequence of "Oh my god I love this song! I hate this song! I know this song!" pretty much completely sums up how random and complete the high school experience is.
One thing i wish happened in the movie is that Janis takes accountability and apologizes for what she did to Cady. My unpopular opinion - she was a mean girl too. Cady was an innocent and naive teenager who was homeschooled and she knew nothing about being in a public high school setting. Janis manipulated her into being with the plastics (who are the titular mean girls) and it led Cady to change who she was and become a “clone of Regina”. She did have a part in that to plot her revenge against Regina (which is justified for after what Regina did to her). But I felt she should have owned up for what she did to Cady.
I agree. Janis is a girl with unresolved psychological issues and keeps them pent up. She doesn’t own up to her actions and took her anger out on Cady. Yes Janis was bullied by others, but still she should have gotten help for her anger
Lol I realized just now (as a Vietnamese) that Gretchen new "queen" was a Vietnamese girl, but Gretchen talked to her in Chinese. That's why the other girl was confused and replied with: "Cái gì?", which is "What?!" in Vietnamese :)
Gretchen’s ending was hilarious lol since I didn’t understand her Vietnamese at all. That’s why Trang Pak was like cai Gi (what?). And even if it seems that she didn’t get character development, I noticed a subtle thing. She started to wear the hoop earrings her parents gave her - meaning she’s free from regina’s control and the restrictions she had to face from Regina as a plastic.
i just noticed at the end everyone seems to be friends again except gretchen cuz u see damian janis cady and karen sitting together hanging out with janis boyfriend regina walks by waves and smiles but no gretchen
The deleted bathroom talk scene between Cady and Regina should've been kept in, it explained so much about Regina and her selfishness and Cady's apology that was only for Regina herself
i remember watching this scene for the first time, cady looked so cool going to prom with the varsity jacket and pants unlike every other girl (except janis) who wore a dress, i was thinking i'll go to my prom dressed like that too and i'll be hella cool just like her! xD
She had very low self esteem. After years of constant cruelty from Regina which made her feel as though she didn't matter and that she was born to be a follower, she just tried to find someone new to follow after the Plastics split. Either 1. She's having a bit of an identity crisis since she was very dependent on Regina and now she doesn't know who she is without her. 2. She dislikes herself so much that she'd rather emulate the behaviors and personality characteristics of someone that she perceives as being cool. or 3. In Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development, adolescence is centered around a crisis of "Identity vs. Role Confusion". Teenagers struggle to figure out where they fit into society and often try out different roles to establish their sense of self. Experimenting with these different roles and behaviors actually helps with forming a unique identity based on the things taken away from each role. Gretchen, as she constantly seeks external validation (which is something I've struggled with a lot), is probably just having a bit more trouble with finding her identity since she's so worried about people not liking her.
I haven’t seen anyone pointed this out, but there was a funny little gag at the scene when Gretchen was with her new clique, she was speaking gibberish that sounded like Vietnamese, that’s why the other girl looked confused and replied with: ‘What?’ in Vietnamese
Haha I love that last few second it’s kinda nostalgic. It’s like they were young high schoolers who made bad choices and they matured and change to be better and yeah there’s always gonna be people who make dumb choices when their younger it shows
Just rewatched Mean Girls from when I was kid, so I didn’t remember much from the plot. Didn’t realize it was this good.. I always knew MG was an iconic teen movie, but it was just refreshing seeing it again. The cast is great.
Woah anybody else just notice the pink heart on Regina's gray sweater at the end? That could be symbolic that Regina is a changed person but still has a bit of her former self at heart?
Am I the only one who wished Gretchen had a better ending? Cause it’s really sad to see her fall back into the same role she served in the plastics. It’s like her self esteem has been so damaged that she feels she needs to be a servant just to know her place in life. First to Regina, and now to Trang Paq

Yes! Liz Caplan is actually Ashkenazi Jewish and Armenian. I'm 45% Lebanese, but I am happy to see some representation!
also why regina thought she was a lesbian
Lol i though Kevin was Indian
@@louisjefferies2733 you're not entirely wrong, because the actor is of Indian descent.
he asked if she was puerto rican he didnt say he was puerto rican
Watching this scene right now. I saw this in the midst of my teens and this is still one of the dearest movies to me. I'm 31 now.
Right? I was 14 at the time the movie was out and felt some things were relatable. Also, it is just a good movie I am 32 now and those memories will always remain.
"It's just plastic" oh I see what they did there
Man Lindsay Lohan was in her prime in 2004 when this came out.
She came back for Christmas movie on Netflix
Ack so sad
Wow this movie has so many layers and details lol
I liked it, she still has curly hair as to when she was plastic but her clothes seem more refined? and now she's an actual human being.
The ending scene makes me so emotional I cry every time! 😍😍
Me too ❤️
Me three girl everytime
The sequence of "Oh my god I love this song! I hate this song! I know this song!" pretty much completely sums up how random and complete the high school experience is.
I really love Karen Prom dress!
rockgirldoll 3031 Can you please use proper Grammar!?

Exactly nobody in this movie took accountability except the new girl who was homeschooled and basically had no friends and was taken advantage of
Lol I realized just now (as a Vietnamese) that Gretchen new "queen" was a Vietnamese girl, but Gretchen talked to her in Chinese. That's why the other girl was confused and replied with: "Cái gì?", which is "What?!" in Vietnamese :)
It doesn’t sound Chinese at all
Why do I think the junior plastics are uglier 🤔🤷🏼♀️
Because they are
Because they're 12, I guess.
@@animon613 It's funny how you just literally 'admitted' that if a person is ugly that means they are 12, how nice😍😍😍
The question here is Wtf those kids are doing in a high school lol
Cuz when a girl is wearing a dirty look/"I think I'm the best" look, it automatically makes her look ugly if you ask me
Gretchen’s ending was hilarious lol since I didn’t understand her Vietnamese at all.
Damien:I LOVE THIS SONG!!!😆
Janis:I HATE THIS SONG!!!🤮
Cady:I KNOW THIS SONG!!!😃
Me:I DONT KNOW THIS SONG!!!😄
Britney Gamergirl Me : Song!
Me Late: Oh god no
i just noticed at the end everyone seems to be friends again except gretchen cuz u see damian janis cady and karen sitting together hanging out with janis boyfriend regina walks by waves and smiles but no gretchen
Because Gretchen joined a new clique
@@connorcantwell5815 she still could’ve waved to Karen and Cady
I like though that the girl next to Regina has such an expression like “what are you waving at”
@@Thundernerd2aBirdthat was Kristen Hadley, who threatened Cady at the beginning of the film by saying, “Talk to me again and I’ll kick your ass.”
Regina always treated Gretchen the worst
Cady's speech always hits me in the heart every time I watch this movie!
3:14 lol "look im a queen 👑"
"As am I!"
Dead 💀😂🙌🏻
I love Damien's horrified gasp when Cady breaks the tiara xxx
I died when Gretchen tryna speak Vietnamese in the end and the girl didn’t even get it 😂
Love how in the junior plastics there were two blondes and one brunette just like the OG plastics
I watched this movie a thousand Times
😃
Luxanna Crown guard i know we all watched it
Luxanna Crown guard 😂👌
Me as a kid now I remember 😅🥰😂
I watched it a trillion times XD
I watched it a billion times
0:18 me when i reach finals.
WHEN REGINA SAID THANK YOU I LOVED IT
The deleted bathroom talk scene between Cady and Regina should've been kept in,
it explained so much about Regina and her selfishness and Cady's apology that was only for Regina herself
This is imo the best high school girl type film. The acting is brilliant, funny and you actually empathize with the characters.
Janis is so happy and in the last scene and I'm living for it
That’s because she’s with Kevin who loves and accepts her for who she is
No one talking about how cute it is that Karen is still in Cady's friendgroup. Wouldve loved to see a Janis and Karen friendship.
6:34
*almost get hit by a bus*
*immediately fix hair*
That final scene will always feel so refreshing and freeing, the music also elevates that feeling of peace 😌
Cady: *I've gone from homeschooled jungle freak, to shiny plastic, to most hated person in the world, to actual human being"*
Me: O-o
The worst thing about this movie is that it ends.
One of my favourite movie endings ever, I absolutely loved it.
i remember watching this scene for the first time, cady looked so cool going to prom with the varsity jacket and pants unlike every other girl (except janis) who wore a dress, i was thinking i'll go to my prom dressed like that too and i'll be hella cool just like her! xD
well? did you?
Did you do it?
When Regina said thank you it actually seemed very sincere for once. Then again she might have been a bit drugged up on painkillers 😂
Kevin was my favorite character in this movie. That rap song he made had me almost die laughing.🤣
Whenever Cady talks about Emma Gerber my heart goes all fuzzy! Her reaction is so sweet!
Why does gretchen love joining squads though??
Lilah Duncan ohhhhh
@@lilahduncan9474 Thank you.
Shes just friendly
I haven’t seen anyone pointed this out, but there was a funny little gag at the scene when Gretchen was with her new clique, she was speaking gibberish that sounded like Vietnamese, that’s why the other girl looked confused and replied with: ‘What?’ in Vietnamese
Haha I love that last few second it’s kinda nostalgic. It’s like they were young high schoolers who made bad choices and they matured and change to be better and yeah there’s always gonna be people who make dumb choices when their younger it shows
This ending makes me want to cry because everybody happy and the drama in girl world has stopped❤️
Just rewatched Mean Girls from when I was kid, so I didn’t remember much from the plot. Didn’t realize it was this good.. I always knew MG was an iconic teen movie, but it was just refreshing seeing it again. The cast is great.
5:47 I'm suprised she knows the language
I love the fact that Cady didn’t save any of the crown for herself and gave it to everyone else❤❤❤
Woah anybody else just notice the pink heart on Regina's gray sweater at the end? That could be symbolic that Regina is a changed person but still has a bit of her former self at heart?
I'm glad Karen is still part of Cady's group.
"Are you portican?"
"Lebanese"
4:51
Ragina George mistook lebanese for lesbian pfff
Yes, I did saw this on a tiktok
this isnt just some chick flick... its one of the best movies ever...
and yes ive seen the irishman, goodfellas, the professional, etc, etc.
So this is where Adele got the idea of breaking her Grammy & giving it to Beyoncé
Am I the only one who wished Gretchen had a better ending? Cause it’s really sad to see her fall back into the same role she served in the plastics. It’s like her self esteem has been so damaged that she feels she needs to be a servant just to know her place in life. First to Regina, and now to Trang Paq
2:21 ICONIC 🙌
Not the junior plastic came walkin thru eating it up like that💗 plus lindsay look soo beautiful in this scene @6:24
