Dear Mr Shashi Tharoor, whenever I see your videos I feel proud to be an Indian. I think you have brought out lot of historical facts in open which must serve as a big motivator and morale booster for many, Atleast that is what it does to me. However I have always wondered what made you choose Congress as a party to affiliate to, to achieve your political goals. You may not like BJP or other regional parties is understandable but why Congress. Did they hold something over your head? I mean do they know something which will be harmful to you if comes out in public? Please know that I am asking out of curiosity and not trying to judge you or disrespect you.
Shashi Tharoor is the material India deserves as Prime Minister. Without sensible leaders in the region there could be little hoped that human development can take place. Europe and then America in last several centuries have colonised the world by their physical and virtual control. It's about time that Asia and Africa should rise by breaking the European and American shackles. The model of rise of Germany, Japan, South Korea, China and other far eastern countries must be followed by India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and central Asian states by showing flexibility towards each other. Because if they don't invest in the human development their own populations will rise against their respective ruling mafia.

Listening to Dr Tharoor speak on the same topic a hundred times feels me always with the same sense of euphoria, elation , joy and amazement similar to when I heard him speak for the first time on the said matter. I still remember talking to so many of my NRI friends on how the politics of India will change for better with highly accomplished people and intelligent people like him joining politics. It made jokers like me realise that IVY LEAGUE DEGREES doesn’t make you a patriot, inculcate honesty or bring goodness.
But people who cultivate character, personality on the basis of ethos of Culture and civilisation of India have patriotism and goodness in them.

You go into any random RSS Shaka in any part of the country and any time in the year.
And see what they teach those students - Patriotism, Service, Goodness, Honesty and Simplicity.
It is done every day and all throughout the year.
Tell me which Ivy League Univ, IIT, IIM, St Stephens, Doon school or any school where you pay lakhs of rupees as fees teach it?
I have been to world’s top Universities, have 6 degrees but no where my education taught me patriotism or goodness.
It is my dad who taught me and the books I read written by Swami Vivekananda or the man I idolise Shaheed Bhagat Singh who did this.
RSS shakhas do it for all the Sangh goers everyday. Hence people like Modi are so patriotic and honest. I don’t care if he went to school or he has MA or not.
A person who reads Swami Vivekanand or goes to a RSS Shaka is any day better than a crook with IIT or Harvard degree.

During the colonial times Britishers have looted India and young Indians today , especially the well educated once seems to not have overcome the subjugation of their mind/self esteem . We should not forget the evils of the colonial past but without the dedication of the some the Englishmen, India would have lost many of her ancient heritage sites… Unfortunately since India’s independence , she has neglected to promote and protect her rich heritage!

We need more and more knowledgeable and progressive thinking people like Shashi Tharoor in Indian politics so that the entire demography of politics change and we should rather change the way elections are being held and even choosing a government or parliament, because as rightly pointed out by Tharoor, if we want Modi or any other candidate for the PM post, we will have to choose their own party or vote for a candidate who belongs to that party whether we like the party or the candidate or not. Tharoor is still optimistic and hopes that things will change in politics and new generation comes in and more people are educated, but frankly if Indians do not come out of the mental slavery mode that of idol worship, be it God or be it certain individual, things will never change for better in India atleast as far as politics is concerned.

In reply I would argue that even English wanted to live comfortably in a vast land they called India. They taught Indians to think for themselves rather than a Raja or Maharajah do that . In other words the seeds of parliamentary democracy were sown for the first time in Indian history only under a white man . Gandhi and Nehru and Ambedkar went to universities in England and America to digest the concept of democracy and let the Indians to learn and govern themselves with a Constitution. Last but not least, cricket , railways and banking system etc would never have happened but for this important epoch in Indian history, namely, the 200 rule under England. Let's than God it wasn't Spain or Portugal who colonized India and destroyed every thing toto.
Joseph C : Not:. Indians exprimented with all varieties of political systems, including parliament based governance over two thousand years ago (Sidharth Gautam, ca 600 BCE). This is not surprising, since India produced the earliest works on political science (the Arth Shastra ). So dont sell your country short.
