- The bond between sisters is so strong. We're remembering this moment when Holy Cow called out to her sister Madonna as they were reunited after only 30 minutes apart!
Born in the dairy industry, they both were taken away from their mom and suffered severe injuries. Emaciated and terrified, they were brought to The Gentle Barn at just 9 weeks old, and we spent months healing them.
Years later, we moved Holy Cow and Madonna from our Sun Chlorella Healing Center to our main location, just up the road, and this is what happened when they were reunited-and every day since ❤️
The Gentle Barn is a non profit animal sanctuary with locations in Los Angeles, CA, Nashville, TN, and St. Louis, MO. We rescue neglected and traumatized animals from all circumstances, we rehabilitate them, and when they're ready we partner with them to heal people with the same stories of trauma. We rescue cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, emus, llamas, donkeys, and more. Our mission is to show people the love and magic of animals by sharing their stories and how living a gentle life can help heal animals, humans, and the world.

I saw how mothers were separated from their babies and the little ones stood alone in these boxes with their rickety legs, screaming, calling and sniffing. Have seen them with tears in their eyes! It wasn't because "of the dust", they were mentally exhausted.
I couldn't imagine that.
They will never see each other again... In the dairy industry they suffer much longer.

I would love to be able to save some animals. I have always dreamed of having a small sanctuary. I know nothing about cows but I’m more than happy to learn. Pigs, cows, dogs, cats, horses, goats…..you name it, I want to help save ones in need. God Bless you!

Cows and pigs are the worst when they get older and their arthritis kicks in. They stay in a lot of pain because of all that weight bearing down on them.
If I won a substantial amount of money on the lottery, or something similar, I would open an animal sanctuary too. That would make life so worthwhile. 🥰
You could look into volunteering a couple of days a month at one. It would be a more affordable way to help out. Not everyone can afford the time to volunteer, but if you can, it can be incredibly rewarding.

I've seen a mother cow mourning after her baby died at birth. Another cow stayed by her side for like a week to comfort her. Mourning and compassion. They have moods. They play, they love, they comfort... it's beautiful!
My cow's baby died at the age of one month as he was suffering from lumpy virus,during the morning time when she was milking she started mourning and wept her tears drop falling from eyes,the only thing was she couldn't speak,she wept every day for more than two months after that she forgot
