  • We recently took the 1959 chevy impala body off the frame, and in today's video, we focus on tearing the frame down as well as the rear axle. A rebuilt, original posi unit will be going back in shortly. New bearings, bushings, a fresh coat of paint, and this frame will be good as new. In the next video, we will paint the frame with POR15, and put it all back together. Make sure to stick around for the restoration progress on this 1959 Chevrolet impala. More videos to come rebuilding this car, so stay tuned!
    Thanks for watching!

    Nice work Ryan! If you're going to use por15, use the top coat as well, it's worth it for the extra protection!

    3M and KBS make a product called Cavity Coater. Works great for preserving the inside of the frame. Now is the time to apply it. It might even repel mice in the future. Keep up the good work!

    Nice car, well worth restoring. A slide hammer works well to pull axles and saves backing plates too. lol

      I was watching that and thinking to myself the backing will end up very distorted and possibly not usable.

    I feel most people that watch these type videos would not mind seeing some of the detailed dismantling. Especially for those who are trying to learn and want to do it themselves. Showing some of the more critical, more difficult things to dismantle is what helps novice or beginners figure it out. I really enjoy your videos. I think longer videos are better in my opinion with more detail. As far as this video, my only suggestion is I had to turn my volume down when you were beating out those axles. I suggest using a dead blow hammer or worst case a rubber mallet. Using a hammer like that could cause damage to that backing plate plus the damage it’s doing to your ears, your hearing!👍🏻😜

    Feels like all us old dudes owe you an apoligy, because back then, these things were $25.00, to $100.00, and just old, used cars. We beat them to death, and just bought another one. Heck, i did that to a 69 super bee! Shameful! Love your dedication, talent, and heart. Thanks for everythind, Ryan

    Another very informative video. Love the progress. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm wondering too if any or all of the frames from that era of GM would interchange.

    • @IowaClassicCars
      @IowaClassicCars  4 місяці тому

      The frames are all specific, very little will interchange, but some parts do

    Ryan, wondering if you looked into having the frame media blasted, or buying a cheapo blaster from HF and doing it yourself. Might be a handy gadget to have around. You could experiment with different media. Would be good content. Do you ever watch Budget Buildz? Great father/son team rescuing old cars like you.

    You are DEEP in the IMPALA BUSINESS. And I'm sure you're well known, & no stranger to what's out there as far as TRUE '58-'64. Have you, EVER, encountered any EXTREMELY RARE '58-'59 LEVEL AIR IMPALA($)? Also, do you like them? Explain, why or why not?
