    Location
    1. The Temple Mount is located on the eastern side of Old City Jerusalem
    2. It occupies 1/6 of the current city.
    3. It is 35 acres (14 hectares) in size, the equivalent of 35 football fields.
    Historical Background
    1. The Temple Mount has played a “center stage” role for much of Israel’s history and has functioned as the center of God’s dwelling place and ministry on this earth.
    2. It will play a key part during the Millennial Reign of Christ on the earth as well.
    3. God has chosen to focus His presence and attention there like a laser beam from heaven like no other place.
    4. First temple: the temple Solomon built.
    5. Second temple: the temple Ezra oversaw after the deportation and return of the Jews.
    6. King Herod’s temple: it would seem like this would be called the third temple, but because the second temple of Ezra wasn’t destroyed by enemies, but that Herod built over it a new temple, and then removed the old one inside, it is still referred to as the second temple.
    Places of Interest
    1. Temple Mount
    2. The believed location of the first and second temples are to the north of the Dome of the Rock as they originally lined up with the Eastern Gate.
    3. Western Wall
    4. Eastern Gate
    5. Southern Stairs
    6. Antonia Fortress
    7. Royal Stoa - Location close to where Pentecost likely took place.

My take is the bible says a mountain in the land of Moriah ( Genesis 22:2 ) meaning the mountain could be the Mount of Olives Proper which is the southern peak which is east of the Old City of Jerusalem. The Old City of Jerusalem is Mount Zion. Mount Moriah is where temple mount Mount Zion where Solomon built the temple. Eventually the term Holy Mountain came to refer to the combined area of Zion and Moriah, Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles 3:1. Saviours coming up on mount Zion Obadiah 1:21 The southern peak of mount of Olives Proper when split in two will fill the valley of the mountains the gihon will then drain east to the dead sea and west thru the Hinnon valley to the Mediterranean Sea.

Thank you for your comment. Scripture says that the Ark of the Covenant was taken to the City of David, where King David made a tabernacle for it: “As the ark of the covenant of the Lord was entering the city of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked down from the window and saw King David dancing[d] and celebrating, and she despised him in her heart.” Later, Scripture says that at the dedication of the Temple that Solomon built, in 2 Chronicles 5, that the Ark of the covenant was brought, "out of the City of David to the Temple, "Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion." If the Ark was brought out of the City of David to the Temple, then the Temple couldn't have been in the City of David.

The Jewish historian Flavius Josephus recorded that Roman Fort Antonia was built upon a gigantic rock.
He also recorded that the Romans used Fort Antonia as their base on the day the Jewish temple was destroyed during 70 AD.
Wars of the Jews, by Flavius Josephus, Book 5, Chapter 5, Section 8.
“8. Now as to the tower of Antonia, it was situated at the corner of
two cloisters of the court of the temple; of that on the west, and that
on the north; it was erected upon a rock of fifty cubits in height, and
was on a great precipice; it was the work of king Herod, wherein he
demonstrated his natural magnanimity. In the first place, the rock
itself was covered over with smooth pieces of stone, from its
foundation, both for ornament, and that any one who would either try to
get up or to go down it might not be able to hold his feet upon it. Next
to this, and before you come to the edifice of the tower itself, there
was a wall three cubits high; but within that wall all the space of the
tower of Antonia itself was built upon, to the height of forty cubits.
The inward parts had the largeness and form of a palace, it being parted
into all kinds of rooms and other conveniences, such as courts, and
places for bathing, and broad spaces for camps; insomuch that, by having
all conveniences that cities wanted, it might seem to be composed of
several cities, but by its magnificence it seemed a palace. And as the
entire structure resembled that of a tower, it contained also four other
distinct towers at its four corners; whereof the others were but fifty
cubits high; whereas that which lay upon the southeast corner was
    seventy cubits high, that from thence the whole temple might be viewed;
but on the corner where it joined to the two cloisters of the temple, it
had passages down to them both, through which the guard (for there
always lay in this tower a Roman legion) went several ways among the
cloisters, with their arms, on the Jewish festivals, in order to watch
    the people, that they might not there attempt to make any innovations;
for the temple was a fortress that guarded the city, as was the tower of
Antonia a guard to the temple; and in that tower were the guards of
those three (14). There was also a peculiar fortress belonging to the
upper city, which was Herod’s palace; but for the hill Bezetha, it was
divided from the tower Antonia, as we have already told you; and as that
hill on which the tower of Antonia stood was the highest of these
three, so did it adjoin to the new city, and was the only place that
hindered the sight of the temple on the north. And this shall suffice at
present to have spoken about the city and the walls about it, because I
have proposed to myself to make a more accurate description of it
    elsewhere.”
Where is that gigantic rock today in modern Jerusalem?
What building is named for the giant rock that lies beneath its dome?

Thank you for your comments. The historical evidence is overwhelming that Herod the Great enlarged the temple mount and built the new temple over the existing one. This evidence is irrefutable. Also, regarding the Temple being in the City of David, Scripture says that at the dedication of the Temple that Solomon built, in 2 Chronicles 5, that the Ark of the covenant was brought, "out of the City of David to the Temple, "Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion." The only Temple I see mentioned in the Book of Revelation is the one which is in heaven. You made mention of the abomination which causes desolation. This is a term that I recognize from The Book of Daniel and which was also mentioned by Christ and two of the Gospels. Daniel was given an exact countdown by the angel Gabriel of when that event would take place. And Jesus was literally answering the question when will this happen when he had just prophesied that the temple would be destroyed. And you just listed the rest of the prophecy in your description. Jesus did indeed go about confirming the covenant of the Lord with his people but as for told he was cut off in the middle of the week for the sake of his people, and the Covenant with the original people was broken. This made the way of course for the church and the New Covenant. It's interesting to note that there is also no mention of the Antichrist in the Book of Revelation. We do see the man of lawlessness though. And I believe that this eight King would be Satan in the flesh as we imagine the Antichrist to be. And it is not the judgment of God that brings these things but the rod of arrogance coming to full bloom. The judgment comes to put an end to it

    • @rhemaman
      @rhemaman 3 роки тому

In one of the Gospels Jesus is asked in addition to what the signs will be to the destruction of the Temple, the signs also of what his coming will be. And in that passage he goes on to describe other things that are not described in the passage where he is only asked about the destruction of the Temple.

    • @rhemaman

In order for the theory of a third earthly temple being built and then desecrated by the antichrist to be true, you would have to reconcile a doctrine which stands starkly opposed to it. In order for it to be desecrated, it would have to be holy. But God would never approve a lesser temple than the one He has already built within man. He said it would be a temple not built with human hands, and that His followers would worship Him in spirit and I'm truth

@@rhemaman What temple is mentioned in the Book of Revelation ? It specifically says there is no temple , because God (and Lamb) are the temple. Ergo no tool of segregation needed anymore.
On sort of a side note ... I recently heard "The Book of Revelation" may have been a pre-christian writing during the 300ish years of fervent Jewish apocalyptic fomenting. From groups like the "Sons of Light" described in a portion of the dead sea scrolls. So obviously not conjected particularly from them.
But anyways it resides in the concept that Jesus Christ or Lamb , appears as a tack on in a lot of the places in the text. So anyways one of the rebuttles some one said about this idea ... was that there was no temple in the new earth/heaven , ergo it could not be of Jewish origin.
But thinking about it , I had to point out ... of course there would be no need of a temple once God was dwelling with the people. And that there was a specific mention of there not being a temple ... seems it would indicate a Jewish origin way of thinking ? Where as it more thoroughly in a christian way of thinking ... they would not have mentioned that . IDK ... I just found it interesting.
But on the plane of scholarly debate ... I would say the evidence is still very firmly it being written after Jesus.
They would need some pre-christian writing of similarity to give it more credence.
It certainly seems a different sort of book to the rest of the NT though .

@@marvinhacking5777 yep! Any time some makes a doctrine it must be proven and they have a responsibility to prove that they are not a false teacher by showing us all that they didn't contrive it. None of us are supposed to teach what came out of our own minds. It's not our jobs to interpret scripture. Only the Holy Spirit can do this and He is the one who should always be speaking.
Regarding the mention of no temple, that chapter is the very last in the book and it places the time after the events of the 1000 year reign and after the new heaven and new earth have been created. A very different time and situation from the rest of the book and very different from the time we live in today. The Jewish Temple was a copy of the Tabernacle of Moses, which was built by Moses to reveal to us what he was shown in Heaven. All of what has been seen in the earth is only a shadow of the real thing which has always stood in Heaven.
That Temple in Heaven has a priesthood, in the same way that the one in the earth did. And the mystery of this matter was revealed by the book of Hebrews. We were shown that the Old Covenant was a placeholder in the Earth for the Priesthood of Melchizedek to come and bring God's glory to mankind. Christ being our High Priest, is the one who stands in that place of glory and who administers the sacraments to us.
A plain and obvious example of this is his many references to us that if he doesn't like the taste of the offering we bring him he'll spew it out as lukewarm, or throw it into the garbage heap as bland and without salt. These are all references, as many other things he spoke, to the sacraments of the priesthood. In this case, THE MEAL OFFERING.

@@rhemaman What temple in heaven ?
But are you saying the power of the priesthood somehow needs a Temple Building ? And not just God himself ?
My understanding is the temple is merely an earthly tool for man to have access and favor with God. Sort of a shield to segregate the evil world and his heavenly glory.
If a building is needed for another reason , and why people worship there ... seems to be idolatry to me ?
But ya like you said before ... there is no temple mentioned in the 1000 year reign ... which would seem to be the only time needed before the new heaven and earth.
But wait ... is that an indication this book may have been written prior to the temple destruction and Jesus's prophecy about it.
Hmmm ... I'm gona go read it again , it's been awhile . And watch for all the spots you can supposedly remove the Jesus / Lamb mentions .
