Ric Flair got treated like crap big time and as time went on, he loses all of his mojo and despite putting up his usual cocky and energetic persona on TV, he's feeling depressed and withdrawn on the inside.
To answer your question, yes, but only because Herd was gone from WCW. Even if he didn't return to WCW, where would he have gone? I'm sure he could've stayed in the WWF, but I don't think he was ready for the whole player-coach thing just yet. Plus, the NWA wasn't much of anything outside of WCW, Eastern Championship Wrestling, and Smoky Mountain Wrestling at that point.
Once Hogan then Savage started coming in and you started to see Flair lose his spot in the company as "The top guy" and Bischoff was making damn sure of it
I don't blame Flair on feeling happy after WCW was bought out cause I can certainly say that both of his tenures in WCW were good despite who was in charge: Herd in 91, Bischoff in the late 90's where the real life heat started to boil up.
Ric Flair's return to WCW in 1993 is a mixed bag. The good: the feuds with Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Sting, and the nWo. He still had some great matches throughout this run. The bad: they treated Ric Flair as an afterthought when he came back to the company. Ric Flair best WCW's matches: with Arn Anderson vs The Hollywood Blonds 1993 Clash Of The Champions June 16, 1993 vs Vader Starrcade 1993 vs Ricky The Dragon Steamboat Spring Stampede 1994, WCW Saturday Night May 14, 1994 vs Hulk Hogan Bash At The Beach 1994, Halloween Havoc 1994 vs Macho Man Randy Savage The Great American Bash 1995, SuperBrawl VI vs Arn Anderson Fall Brawl 1995 vs Sting World War 3 1995 vs Lex Luger and Macho Man Randy Savage Starrcade 1995 vs Eddie Guerrero Nitro May 20, 1996, Hog Wild 1996 with Rowdy Roddy Piper and Kevin Greene vs The Wolfpac Slamboree 1997 vs Bret Hart Souled Out 1998 vs DDP, Sting, and Hollywood Hogan Spring Stampede 1999
They were doing an angle those final few weeks where someone was attacking members of Mag-Sev in the lead-up to and during WCW Greed, with Rick Steiner being the most likely suspect. The story got killed off before a resolution could take place.
Or maybe when he lost the retirement match to Hogan, maybe going back to at that time still WWF. Not saying it would have been better or worse, but still feel the best time for him to retire is with the "I'm sorry, I love you" moment with Shawn Michaels at Mania.
My question for this video, James, is this... ...Do you think that WCW missed an opportunity when they failed to mention that, with Flair's Uncensored win over Hogan, that the nWo was, after 32 months, finally out of all power in WCW, and to treat that as the 'End of an Era'? o.o
Questions 1. Which opponent was tough for him in ric flair return vader, Barry windham, or hulk Hogan or sting 2. If Hogan didn't show up at wcw would he still be a face 3. Why would they make a career match when ric flair returned anyway
Ric Flair could probably face Steve Austin with Austin being the disrespectful bum that has no respect for anyone and they could wrestle all over the country with them exchanging wins. Heck, I could see Austin win the title but it would be reversed because he pulled off some BS stunt to steal the title.
I was doing some research on the whole thing & it turns out the closest thing to "Yappapi" when it comes to Native American's is the Yavapai Tribe in Arizona My guess is that WCW either mispronounced & misspelled the name or they were told they couldn't use Yavapai and they went with a similar sounding name that they made up
Five questions for you: 1. Which Tag Team involving the Big Show did you like more: Kane and Big Show or Big Show and The Undertaker ? 2. Did you think it made Chris Benoit look stupid storyline-wise when he was teaming up with Randy Orton ? Why would he work with the guy who took his title off him ? 3. What did you think about the whole "Ric Flair" co-owner ? And did you wish it would have last longer ? 4. What is your dream match that involves Ric flair that never took place ? 5. Do you still identify Ric Flair as A WCW/NWA Guy ?
1. The team with Kane 2. It's happened so much throughout wrestling history, it is what it is 3. It was an interesting power struggle that was suppose to last longer; but the Austin walkout changed so much 4. The only person he never faced during his WWE run(02-08) was Cena 5. Yes
@@WeAreProWrestling imagine a feud between Cena and Flair where the latter disses Cena, calling him a bum, a degenerate and a criminal who is not worthy of carrying the World title.
If Hogan had not come into WCW in mid 1994, Ric Flair would have probably would have been winding his career down into a head booker positon within the company I feel. There was nobody else for him to feud with really other then Hulk Hogan at that time. All of the old WCW top guys were pushed aside for Hogan due to politics or injuries, such as Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat for example. The only other guy they had left to make a top star....Steve Austin. But you know, WCW.
Honestly? It's possible that when they book Hennig to betray the horsemen is when Flair's "value" in scale from "THE GUY" to "just another guy", or at least signs shit was going south. A few questions: 1: (more of a revisit in relation to ATM Eric Bischoff [heard that nickname in a shoot interview]) If Eric Bischoff would've quit in '98 as he considered because he thought "the writing was on the wall" would the lawsuit and the relationship between him and Flair would have happened and be as toxic, respectively? 2) How good of a fit would Flair be (in your eyes) in the WWF if he would be in the company during the attitude era? 3) Golden Ringbell/brown ringbell of Flair's 2nd run in WCW? 4) [In relation to the NWO parody of the horsemen] Thoughts on that skit and the influence it may have had down the road?
1. All the lawsuit stuff was already happening when Eric thought of quitting(lawsuits started in April, Eric almost quit in August) 2. He probably would have been apart of The Corporation feuding with Austin 3. GRB: Vader Starrcade 93; BRB: Doomsday Match Uncensored 96 4. There were 2 parody's the nWo did, the famous one from 97 & the less famous one from 99. But I thought both were really funny.
Favorite match with arn Anderson vs the Hollywood blondes 2 out of 3 falls unification heavyweight championship vs sting and vs vader wcw championship at starrcade Least Favorite doomsday match
Had Flair not already given his notice it would have made sense to do it there But given he already did, he re-signed with WCW, & Raw was brand new(and they wanted something big for early on); they did it on Raw
Sir, this question is not about Ric Flair. I want to ask if Austin was the hottest babyface getting the loudest pop in WWF/WWE and the biggest draw in WWF, Sable was second and the first female wrestler to be the biggest draw in Women's Wrestler appearing in magazine, tv shows and movies was getting the biggest pop in WWF/WWE and later on Rock. Who do you think in WCW getting the biggest pop in WCW was that Goldberg. And did Goldberg beat Austin in head to head Viewership Battle. Especially in the Summer to October of 1998 and the end of 1998 and even the finger poke of doom and later on. I saw it from Rock 316ae a youtuber where that channel tells about the viewership during the monday night wars era.

My question for you is what was your opinion on The magnificent seven and how would you end the storyline?
Wasn't watching at the time, so I have no opinion on it

No
Considering Ric Flair was the reason Ted Turner bought JCP, I’m surprised he didn’t step in to prevent Jim Herd from firing Flair.
Ted was always hands off when it came to the wrestling side of things

All these years, and I still have this SERIOUS question:
What the Fuck is a Yappipi Strap Match?
I was doing some research on the whole thing & it turns out the closest thing to "Yappapi" when it comes to Native American's is the Yavapai Tribe in Arizona
My guess is that WCW either mispronounced & misspelled the name or they were told they couldn't use Yavapai and they went with a similar sounding name that they made up
@WeAreProWrestling I wouldn't blame the Yavapai Tribe for not wanting WCW to use their name for that Strap match.

How would an Ric Flair/Goldberg program worked around late 98 or early 99.
I don't think you could have really feuded the 2 as Goldberg didn't really have "feuds"; though they did have a match in March 1999 on Nitro
Do you think ric flair and Mr perfect should've had that loser leaves the federation match at wrestlemania 9 to make that match feel more important?
