      Lex Luger’s WCW World title win is a big time moment yet in true Hogan fashion, Mr Hogan wants his title back because that’s best for business, brother!

    Keep up the awesome content, James. What I have to say about Lex Luger during this time frame of his in WCW is simply this: In my opinion and I will stand on it, Luger's title win against Hollywood Hulk Hogan on the 100th episode of Monday Nitro in August of 1997 was not only the biggest win in Luger's career, but Nitro's greatest title win in the show's 5 plus year long history.

      Thanks
      And it's either Luger's win or Goldberg's win as the greatest title win in Nitro history

    Imagine Lex Luger’s WCW return happening today
    “Our trusted sources say that Lawrence Pfohl aka Lex Luger, a wrestling superstar in both WCW and WWF, will be making his full time return to WCW next Monday night on WCW Nitro and it is hinted that Mr Luger’s contract with the WWF has expired and he has decided not to renew said contract”

    Lex Luger's WCW run was awesome. His first run was great for match quality, but his second run was a great for his character.

    3 questions, 2 of them being on Luger's 2nd run in WCW, one is unrelated and is a follow-up from the Ask James episode of FTV.
    Before I get to the questions I'm curious if you are considering doing an FTV on DDP's WCW run in '97, maybe his run in WCW, or at least covering Spring Stampede '97 seeing next year is going to be the 15th anniversary of the show.
    Both questions I got on Luger's WCW run are simple:
    1) What year of Luger's run would you consider the most "cursed" year given either the storylines going on, the roster makeup, or possibly related to the behind the scenes issues within WCW?
    2) How much of the whole rumor of Luger wanting to be in the Four Horseman during the whole Hogan/Doom feud where he joined the Dungeon of Doom do you believe? And if it's true how well would it have worked?
    By the way, how hard are you laughing at the Raiders for that Jon Gruden contract as head coach and 6% ownership stake going into the... 4th year of the contract if I recall right?

      @WeAreProWrestling  3 роки тому +1

      I am thinking of covering DDP's WCW career next year; as it's the 25th anniversary of his big break
      1. Honestly from August 99-March 01 is a point in Luger's career I would like to forget
      2. I somewhat believe it; but I don't know how well it would have worked
      Yes this year is Year 4 of Gruden back with the Raiders

    Lex Luger came back to WCW 1995 in the beginning things were pretty good for the few years he was there after his return especially when he beat Hogan on Nitro back in 97 for the World Heavyweight Championship I enjoyed his run with the NWO Wolfpack after that it just kind of feels like he hit a low point during the later years of WCW and it was a very awkward time for Luger in the later years of the company it just feels like things were not the same with him after a while.

    I remember being excited for lex luger winning the wcw title from Hogan in August of 1997. But then being bummed that he lost it a few days later they should've gave luger at least a month title reign but I see why they didn't do it. Because Hogan was going to wrestle sting and they wanted the belt on Hogan so sting can take it away from him at wcw starrcade 1997 but we know how well that turned out.

    • @WeAreProWrestling
      @WeAreProWrestling  3 роки тому +3

      The best comparison to Luger beating Hogan in 97 is when Dusty beat Flair in 86
      The chase was the important thing, the title win was huge, but the reign didn't need to be long

    It didn't occur to me til now but Luger's 2nd WCW run was about as long as when Nitro was around coincidentally. Looking back at these shows, Luger's feud with the nWo was the hottest he had ever been in his career. Imagine a Sting vs. Lex feud during that timeframe where he turns on Sting, claiming he was the first to regain the world title from the nWo but the fans "didn't care", yet Sting gets all the credit for taking down Hogan and company.

    • @WeAreProWrestling
      @WeAreProWrestling  3 роки тому +3

      Debuted 1st Nitro, final appearance was 8 days before the final Nitro
      And that would have been an interesting story & a story where Luger would have been a "justifiable heel"

      @@bigjoeofthe707 definitely that was really the only Helix thing I can think of that sting really gave during that whole heel run I can't really view sting as a heel because when people think of sting they think of him being a Babyface.

    Question
    1. What did you think of Lex and Jimmy hart pairing where do you rank it
    2. Rank lex and Elizabeth pairing
    3. He was runner up in the world war 3 battle royal 3 times which one should he have won 1996, 1997 or 1998
    4. If he didn't jump from wwf to wcw how would it be different

    • @WeAreProWrestling
      @WeAreProWrestling  3 роки тому +3

      While his WWF run was disappointing, from the time he lost the belt to Hogan all the way to the end was a shame. I still don't get why they pushed him to the background so quickly after losing the belt given how over he was in 97.
