So long as they didn't have anything super valuable in their home, I feel like most people would go along with a completely paid for vacation if it just means trusting random people with most of your stuff
I mean, I have a GREAT landlord, but Idk if I'd ever take the vacation deal like that 😆It's very tempting, but I just don't trust people. Not that I think my stuff would be stolen necessarily, but people don't treat your things with the same level of respect you do as the one who acquired it, or bought and paid for it. I would be way too worried about my stuff being broken in the process

33:04 I was actually legitimately convinced using concrete was a legitimate coolant for that April fools video until the title got updated, so yeah, I do not expect myself to know how to think and breathe at the same time
The concrete PC video 100% got me. That's the only one I had no idea about and I really thought was real. I feel dumb now. It was very well done
I'm glad they chose the more realistic direction, the network intricacy & seeing workstations active added a really great layer to the vid!
That was VERY high in production cost AND produciton value.
I think that this year's April's Fool's prank was one of the best.
Again, it just reminded me of what it was like being an extra on set, andd all of the work that goes into filiming ANYTHING really -- whether it's TV or film.

a few hundred bucks to test a cool and unique product with the gpu it was actually designed for instead of shitting on it and hurting the company was too much, but sending a family on vacation and moving a big part of production for 2 weeks for an april fools joke was easily doable, even though that shit costs thousands to pull off, at minimum

the issue is with them mistreating the people who made something with passion and who trusted them to treat their project with respect

You're spending $800 USD and you can't even cool a 4090 with it???
Would you EVER buy a $800 USD cooler that can't cool your expensive GPU???
According to Wikipedia, the TDP for a 3090 Ti is 450 W.
The TDP for a 4090 is 450 W.
Therefore; does it REALLY make that much of a difference whether they tested it on GPU A which had a TDP of 450 W or GPU B, which also has a TDP of 450 W???
You really think that the total thermal dissipated power would be different between the two GPUs???
This is OLD shit.
And so far, there is little to no evidence that you've watched ANY of the follow up videos that LTT posted since this whole thing happened.
If you want to stick your head in the sand, that's your biz.

But if you're going to dig up old shit that has already been addressed, at least update your internal "database" with the AWARENESS that it's been updated, regardless of whether you watched the video updates or not.
There is NO value in hanging on to old, outdated shit.
Another thing about labeling them as "Aprils Fools Joke" is that UA-cam doesn't show exact dates on anything older than a week, so you watch a random video from a year or a few ago and have to wonder "Why the fk is it weird like that??" because you can't see it was uploaded at April 1st
You can check the description for the exact date, but I know exactly what you mean about it being super confusing

FML i was actually googling "is LMG broke" last night... after checking its net worth i gave up, was like nope it was a joke.
This prank was fantastic. I honestly thought in the back of my mind "maybe this is actually real!?".

Another reason to make sure to mark older April Fools videos as such is that it's not always clear it was uploaded on April 1! Especially when it wasn't actually uploaded on April 1 😛

I like the effort you guys took to put masking tape, almost perfectly colored matched, on the walls so the duct tape would not damage the paint. Yes I caught that. They were taping what looked like the long UV light bulbs to the wall.
You guys are awesome! It was an awesome prank and we appreciate the effort EVERYONE put in on it.
Out house was used for a TV shoot once for a whole day (and one like 2h meeting before).
We got 1k € in Germany for that, lol.

If I'd take my landlord up on this offer VASTLY depends on how far in advance I was asked. I can't drop everything in my life and go away for 2 weeks on short notice. If there was at least a 2 to 4 month lead time and some compensation outside of "want to go on vacation?" then sure. But if you come to me like 6 weeks out I just wouldn't have enough time to make arrangements.

This is insane, that they don’t have anything in writing and are still willing to rent their house xD In the film industry when we rent a property of people, where they life. They get usually paid an insane amount per day + accommodation. All of the stuff you damage or move is insured because you REALLY wouldn’t want it not be insured.
I was wondering what the situation was there's no way that the house would've been empty. What a major logistics move. And for the renters to be on board with such a crazy April fools prank good on them.

the labeling is needed for april fools videos because people may watch them in the middle of the year and not expecting it to be uploaded april 1st and beliving it
I think the labeling is probably more necessary about a week or so afterwards. The first few days of April you're kind of used to and expecting it. As you get further away, people don't look at the date it was posted, especially once it just at a glance says 2 months ago.

I've been off the last month or so.
I love the Define r4. It was my old case, and is now my plex tower server case. I just wish, now that I'm getting 16tb drives, they kept releasing the old R4 drive sleds with the new screw holes for the bottom screws. You CANNOT find them anymore. And all my sleds are for the old hole layouts. So I have to get an R7 eventualy so all my drives aren't just held in by 2 screws each. But also because 16 bays! Though I also love having 5 1/4 bay holes for DVD drive and eventually the second one will be populated with a bluray drive. I just need another PSU to power 5+ hard drives AND a DVD drive AND a blue ray drive.
Eventually, when everything goes rack mount, I'll start work on a smaller auxillary rack that is a media ingest rack for all different kinds of formats, including 8 track, cassette, vhs, betamax, fuck it I'll do it all!

I didn’t appreciate the video for being an April fools joke. I appreciated it for the fact they actually managed to shoot in the house again, even after knowing they got kicked out (been watching for a while). I genuinely thought it was an elaborate set at first, so that’s where I got fooled
