  • The new Berkley Dime Crankbait will be in stores about September 2023.
The Berkley Dime shallow running crankbait has classic balsa action but it is made of plastic so you can cast it on a baitcaster. In addition, it comes in clear plastic colors that you can't get with balsa and is way more durable and consistent too. Check out the new Berkley Dime 4, Berkley Dime 6, Berkley Dime 10, and Berkley Dime 15 crankbaits.

I fished a 4 for the first time today. They really hunt very well when you burn/pause them.

David Fritts help design the DT series for Rapala, they're wood and the DT 4 is lite and cast fine, with all the money Berkeley is making they should be able to afford some for wooden crankbaits.

Their philosophy is that wood isn’t as durable as a high quality plastic and it doesn’t allow for longer casts- by having weight discs or transfer systems they are able to get a longer cast out of the same size and action bait compared to its balsa counterpart

Plastic will never run like balsa. Homemades are special for a reason

As someone who developed this crank bait... I completely disagree. Historically yes... that was definitely true, but I spent the better part of 10 years of my research career trying to crack the balsa code in a plastic bait. Developed hundreds and hundreds of prototypes and compared them historically to some of the best balsa crank baits that have ever existed. If you look at the size 10, for example, we developed and assessed over 78 prototypes alone. I also have reviewed most plastic cranks in the industry using slow motion video analysis and agree there wasn't historically balsa action in a plastic crank. But after cracking the code, I can assure you there is balsa action in baits like the Dime an others where we make the claim. Many of us that work here are passionate anglers who understand fishing and develop products. I've been making wooden crank baits since I was nine years old and have master's degrees in fish research I apply to design, motion study and reviewing how fish respond to fishing lures. It's like some folks can't believe progress can be made. Do you guys all think technology hasn't improved in other products? The Dime is the real deal. Why not honestly try one before trying to discredit a product without actually fishing it?

Glad to hear this Dan. I caught several on the Dime4 yesterday after trying a lot of other baits

@@danspengler2261hey Dan I’m curious- is there a reason there wasn’t a weight transfer ball in the hit stick? Would that have messed up the balsa action because the money badger has that integrated into it.

You started a UA-cam?!!!! I’ve been running with the SMC crew the last 3 years in the south chasing in my boat and filming. But Scott always spoke highly of you when I asked of the old days with Brandon lol

Forget balsa bought Rapala and they cost a lot. And broke Apart. Not Good.

But Storm already has something similar and in my opinion one of the best Square bills on the market, if you can find em. Circuit board bills and self tuning so no left or right at all, ever.

Just learn how to properly use a bait caster and you won’t need to change reels. Smh
