Corey, Have really been enjoying your record store series, giving us more places to stop on our family US tour next summer!

Well that might be a BAD thing to those you are dragging along lol but yeah glad I can help. Let me know if you want any opinions on shops where you're going and I'd be glad to share. Cheers!

At least my youngest will be excited about the record stores, you might have seen him in a couple of my vids. He is totally head over heels into records.

Great video Corey, I've been to Dave's and it is a well stocked place with alot of choices. I also like his philosophy which is you may not know what you want until you see it. That's the fun of shops over online. Thanks again for coming to my neck of the woods and I always look forward to these no matter where they are.

It's always special to me when I can feature a Chicago store. You're right, Dave's has unbelievable selection, variety and is organized to the hilt. Thank you for watching and the kind words.

I can see these videos as being an essential addition to any travel guide, as I'm sure they'd be of interest to many travelling or on holiday whether or not they're into vinyl, and I hope each store has a link to the video on their website. I loved the idea that Dave's sacking led him to have this store! Cheers Corey! Ian

Haha yes! AND the store that fired Dave is looong gone while his business survives.
Some of the shops add links or do a facebook post but overall these videos are under utilized in my opinion and that can be discouraging. For example Dave's website has not been updated with this video which I think would drive traffic.

Indeed, distribution is key - was that management speak, Mr Barnes? Haha! I can see why you want to make a DVD. Maybe, once Andy's Tales From The Dead Wax magazine gets into swing, you could do a cover mount version? There was a UK DVD called Last Shop Standing - I haven't seen it, but maybe you know of it.

The editing, the interview and the shared appreciation for vinyl is superb in this one Corey. Fantastic interview with Dave. He seems like the kind of owner who you hope to meet up when digging in a new shop. I would love to go there sometime.
RSAA is a must see series for vinyl collectors everywhere~

Thank you for the love Rob! You hit the nail on the head, Dave was the perfect for the series and well worth the visits to get all the footage. I actually had to run there on two different nights because he wasn't in when I was coming through but fighting traffic and fatigue was well worth it now.

Nice! I've been to Logan Hardware, great shop. That's so cool you've known him for so long. I only scratched the surface of his music knowledge, if I lived there I'd be there ALL the time lol.

I am one of those guy's that never stopped buying vinyl even when they stopped putting it out.I have been in this store last Easter and met Dave . He's a nice guy and was helpful to me to point me in the direction I was looking for. He had a pile of stuff. I bought a lot from him that day and only I was going back to Ireland I could have bought a lot more. How was I going to get them home.?..If you ever up that way and near Dave's please go in and you will by in vinyl heave. Tony Friel...

I've bought a few albums online, but there's nothing like searching through a good record store where you can just get lost in the vinyl!

Great hearing the stories! Nope, nothing like browsing in a store compared to online - one reason why I am stopping online purchasing vinyl.

Hey Kris, he makes a great point. I have extended interview footage with more great discussion on current topics, haven't decided what to do with it yet...but I balance both online and stores but totally get the advantages of not buying online. Just shipping alone over the last 5 years is a shocking amount.

Corey I am in Indy this weekend, what record stores are on your radar here?

    • @CoreysChannel
      @CoreysChannel  7 років тому +1

If I could only visit one store in Indy it would be Irvington Vinyl. It's a little tricky to find because it's a record shop combined with a book store. Just a little south of Indy, it's directly across the street across from a free parking area and there is a little pizza shop at the end of the block. Once you get on E Washington ignore your GPS. Look for the lot on the left and Irvington Vinyl / BookMama's is on the right corner in an old building with the address of '666' way at the top. TONS of albums to look through, rare items, many genres. You will find killer stuff. You may be directed to LUNA but I am not a fan of that store. Go there if you have time (nice building, well organized, lots of new, their own coffee brand) but over priced IMO. Happy hunting!

Thanks Corey. If you ever get to Peoria, IL, my home record store 'Younger Than Yesterday' is owned by the bass player from the band GONN. Lots of years in the biz, jammed full. He has a separate inventory he takes to record shows.

Looks like a great shop! Love the Kiss sign out front. I've been meaning to hit an Indy record fair someday, maybe I'll catch him there. The band looks pretty cool, garage rock?
