For the first time, I was exploring Big Pine Key today, and I was amazed by these little deers. It made my day. They are so friendly, cute, and approachable. Obviously, they like people and as I was talking to locals, they like them too. I want to return there to see them again. Keep doing a good job 🙏 they are worth protecting.
I would recommend installing cameras in some locations on Big Pine or No Name to see just how often a day key deer cross the roads, interact with humans, etc. I'm sure tracking devices have been utilized already. The biggest threat to their long-term survival are epidemics/sickness (i.e. the recent screw worm infestation), stopping any more human encroachment on northern Big Pine and No-Name, potentially spreading small populations of key deer to other islands such as Lignumvitae (outside of their current range, but just for a trial run to see the hazards/benefits of such a move.) Any farther north, such as Northern Key Largo or the northern portions of Florida Bay, are probably a no-no, due to the Crocodile and/or Burmese Python. Trying to stop the Python from establishing a population in the middle and lower keys is also crucial.

God bless you! They are so precious! ❤

i elike deer.... a lot
But how do they taste? They look delicious like veal.
If you're trying to protect those deer why let human other than the rangers at all on the group looks like a attraction to me shame
I hope that they can repopulate in the whole world
by the looks of the video, minorities are also endangered there
4 years later, have you grown up yet?
i want a key deer on my wall
