at some point here i mention that it isnt grabbing 3rd gear - and we had it rev limited to 5000. this was the first time the truck ever went down any sort of road test. its plenty fast. its made a fool out of many people who thought they could square up with it.
its around the 12.5-13 range. it was only ran 5 times for the numbers. kinda scary in big tires. i was in the rig for one of the pulls. i wasnt about to risk my life twice. its lived a mud bog life. - this was taken right by the "dismal swamp" on coastal virginia a couple years back.
ThunderHead289 that truck does not run 12.5 in the quarter. tell me a real number joker. i have been racing for 20 plus years i know what it takes to run 12.5 and that truck wont do it. i bet money on it?
Everyone wants to talk shit on a truck that they either A- can't afford B- don't have I personally think the truck is awesome. Keep up the good work guys!
Andrew Rockwell jealousy and I think some people just don’t want to think anyone but them has anything nice so they put everyone else down to try to prop themselves up
I used to have a 71 nova with a mild built 383 and a 4 speed and I drove and beat that 383 like it owed me money for about 2 years all thru high school and raced the shit outa it almost every Wednesday night at the drag strip .. Best it ever did with 4:11s was a 11.8 and that was me ripping that motor and shifting at 6800 rpm all the time ... It never broke on me all I had to do in 2 years was a list the valves twice .. The day I sold it to a 35 year old man and his son, he took off in that car burnin rubber thru 3 gears I knew it went to a good home.. Just wish I knew where that car was today
My dad had a 72 with a built l79 in it. He got rid of it when my mom got pregnant with my older sister, he definitely regretted selling it. We later found the car but it had been drag raced and stripped n cut to a shit shell roller.
Wes Harris You have no concept of mechanics. If you think this is fast, stay away from the race track, there's enough Honda's and ten second shitboxes getting in the way as it is. This truck is dead slow. You need to get out and see the world. Leave mommies house and get out there. Don't be afraid.
damn that 383 sounds amazing! you going off headers or exhaust dump? restoring my 3+3 now, was going to do a screamin jimmy swap but i think we need more squarebody gassers runnin around hollaring 'merica...like yours just did
4.56:1 , high stall & a mean ass circle track cam combined with great heads = fast ass mud truck. Any one that wants to talk shiz take your 5000 lb truck with 38 inch tires and liner up....I'll be there with your pie.
Paul Underwood haha gas emmisions are far worse for the environment... Look it up .... You gas guys are just jealous because you can't build power on a stock engine
Wow lots of haters....it ain't easy to spin big mudders like that for 75 yards...looks like it would be fun to wail on out in the desert or terrorize a downtown district at 2:00am
Goes to show you cant post anything without someone key board ninja hating all overt it. I thought that 383 sounded sweet. I had a 440 HP 383 SBC in my '66 Chevy C-10 pickup and this engine sounds a good 150 hp stronger at least. I bet its a blast. Those Bog trucks are heavy as hell and that little stroker was getting with the program. Most folks don't know that these trucks usually have 540 BBC or 572 BBC with nitros and the little 383 sounded healthy enough to jump right in with them to me. I liked it, thanks for sharing.
I have one of those in my boat, and feel like it’s always needed a good carb tuning and the electric choke set up correctly. It runs good but know it could be better. Any interest in road tripping to Clear Lake and tuning the carb and timing up and setting up the electric choke. I’d gladly pay you! I know you guys are down by Ames. It’s a 383 with vortec heads, edlebrock 650 carb. Thanks buddy
Dude I just ordered up an extreme 4x4 cam this afternoon and then watched your video. Fucking savage bro! I can't believe the power you can put to those tires without absolutely scattering the rear end😄👌
Those calling it slow, thats pretty fuckin fast for a MUD TRUCK. To turn those big ass tires and also include that the truck weighs between 4000-5000 pounds, thats pretty fucking fast. I own a truck just like this with a built 350 and it doesn't move nowhere near the way this truck does.
damn man that 400 crank in that 350 block is making some unbelievable torque did M Chevy boys let you bring your rotstang I'm non-brand Pacific by the way I will mix them and create Frankenstein
Its not fun buying fuel, but 12:1 is really fun on the street. LOL .I love it. 388 sbc Chet Herbert custom grind .680 , 312 adv. dur. 108 LSA, K&G ported 462 camel humps (the crutch) (Martin Truex's fathers old heads.) Soon to put Aluminum on with 72cc to drop compression & small cam. Pain in the ass buying AV gas.
What kind of fuel do you run with that compression ratio? Id like to have that engine in my lil 85 toyota. It currently has a small block chevy swapped in it, albeit I have just a tame ol 350 4 bolt main, my sbc prob just makes around 250 or so horsepower but its healthy and dependable. The truck sounds good, Id like to build a nice 10 to 1 comp ratio for my lil truck to keep it more 93 octane pump gas friendly.
bigger heavier tires make you alot slower.... taller tires make your gear ratio wider = less acceleration and more top speed in each gear, wider tires increase rolling resistance, road noise and make the clutch slip, wider tires increase grip ONLY on flat surfaces, wider is not always better
got a question for u ..i got a 1990 k5 blazer 700r trans 2000 to 2400 torque converter in it and im thinking about buying this race motor it has 12.5 to 1 sbc 355 030 over with elgin e-1090p solid flat tappet cam with scorpion 1.6 rockers for total lift of 573intake 594 exhust can i use the torque converter i have on this engine,,..i no i got alot of things to change because it is a tbi fuel injection
not necessarily the compression. it could be a solid cam engine with lightweight valve train components, balanced crank, crank oil scraper, small diameter converter, etc.
Lmao. Kinda reminds me of my uncle’s buddy. He could light up his 54” Super Swampers on his street-legal ‘88 Silverado. Never really did very often though because it cost him 3,500 for the set. Haha
at some point here i mention that it isnt grabbing 3rd gear - and we had it rev limited to 5000. this was the first time the truck ever went down any sort of road test. its plenty fast.
its made a fool out of many people who thought they could square up with it.
ThunderHead289 what does it run in the 1/4 mile?
its around the 12.5-13 range. it was only ran 5 times for the numbers. kinda scary in big tires. i was in the rig for one of the pulls. i wasnt about to risk my life twice. its lived a mud bog life. - this was taken right by the "dismal swamp" on coastal virginia a couple years back.
1970 olds442 6.88 at 223mph
+Kyle Marsh are you bragging about being able to outrun a lifted mid tire truck?
ThunderHead289 that truck does not run 12.5 in the quarter. tell me a real number joker. i have been racing for 20 plus years i know what it takes to run 12.5 and that truck wont do it. i bet money on it?
Everyone wants to talk shit on a truck that they either
A- can't afford
B- don't have
I personally think the truck is awesome. Keep up the good work guys!
Andrew Rockwell jealousy and I think some people just don’t want to think anyone but them has anything nice so they put everyone else down to try to prop themselves up
I can afford it and I have it but I don’t talk shit
right i watch lots street drags and highway racing turbo trucks tend to win !!! more than just a turbo tho haah
When your neighbors need to know what freedom sounds like
All the bald eagles being let loose with that one
Thank you, Thank THANK YOU YUP, when neighbors enjoy, and if not too DAMNED BAD

Gregg HLS damn bro you regret selling it
fuck yeah bro!
😪😪😪🤧
I had a 69 I should have kept too so don't feel bad
My dad had a 72 with a built l79 in it. He got rid of it when my mom got pregnant with my older sister, he definitely regretted selling it. We later found the car but it had been drag raced and stripped n cut to a shit shell roller.
Years later I had to come back and visit the video that made me want a 383 in my K20
talk about a dream truck
Got mine! 1985
That’s a dream truck of mine too. I like any good old American truck. And the silverados are beautiful.
No question, that truck is quick. Sounds GREAT !!
there is no better sound on this planet than that right there 2 thumbs up
It would be hard to beat that thing off a stoplight. Imagine if he put 4 big ol fat drag slicks on that thing lol
I thought my K10 short bed on 35's with a built 350 sbc with an aggressive cam sounded good till I saw this video. Thanks a lot, guys!
Seems like some folks haven't got a clue what it takes to make all 4 tires turn on pavement
Hint: a fucking badass motor
that rig moves out quite well
ThunderHead289 sho nuff never get tired of hearing that
jon doe with tire like that truck has
John D looked like the front tire turned after it went from reverse to forward gear may not have still a badass truck
Wes Harris You have no concept of mechanics. If you think this is fast, stay away from the race track, there's enough Honda's and ten second shitboxes getting in the way as it is. This truck is dead slow. You need to get out and see the world. Leave mommies house and get out there. Don't be afraid.

I am CHEVY HEAR ME ROAR!!! Thanks ThunderHead289! Love the channel even if your a Ford guy!
If that doesn't put a smile on your face you don't know what love is
it's nice to someone still has an interest in building a bad ass gas engine instead of a goat smelling diesel
willis arnald oh fuck off , you gas guys can't even build power on pump fuel ....
Cole Farrell lol, bit of boost and 800 is easy. And there are plenty of combos putting out 1000 or even more
Paul Underwood haha gas emmisions are far worse for the environment... Look it up .... You gas guys are just jealous because you can't build power on a stock engine
pyroblasten what combos? What engine ? Where? When?
Paul Underwood you do know that diesel smoke doesn’t go into the atmosphere it falls to the ground and doesn’t hurt anything
Anyone talking shit has no clue. To move _that_ quickly on tires that big takes a shit load of power. This truck is bad ass.
JRC99 I bet it can go like hell in the dirt on some trails. I want one.
The trucks gutted calm down. It’s powerful but it isn’t what you think in what kind of power
Curious on what gearing is in the truck.
Gearing is what makes it fast not the engine.. Without proper gearing that thing would be far slower.
that's a badass truck! T he lobes and duration on that cam would make me tear the radio out of that truck!
I wish I could come close to running as nice as that. Sweet
I wanted to say something sarcastic about putting that motor in a truck , but WOW!!! Awesome
you my friend have built my dream mud truck and that trucks godda win alot of awards
This is bubba Stricklands truck in Suffolk Virginia. Unfortunately I never got to see it used for its purpose. I'm sure it was righteous
ThunderHead289 a square body is nothing less they are the holy grail of trucks
Wow lots of haters....it ain't easy to spin big mudders like that for 75 yards...looks like it would be fun to wail on out in the desert or terrorize a downtown district at 2:00am
The downtown district sounds like a damn good idea. Wake up the whole fuckin city
that's a nice ride, bud. keep her between the ditches. Rock on🤘👍
That is impressive for a 12:1. Small block too. Sounds like a 15:1 big block.
Goes to show you cant post anything without someone key board ninja hating all overt it. I thought that 383 sounded sweet. I had a 440 HP 383 SBC in my '66 Chevy C-10 pickup and this engine sounds a good 150 hp stronger at least. I bet its a blast.

Probably my favorite truck on youtube.
1:49 when I'm almost home and have to pee
I've seen 2 of my sons build 2 lifted Chevy on 44s smoke them 44s off like drag cars it's very impressive to watch.very cool video.
I never get tired of watching this video!
I dont care wut others may think bt thats a sick 4x4!!!!
God damn, thats a tank! Im looking at a 1988 k1500, and pretty sure Im gonna take it!
daaaamn that sounds great!! love it
sounds like a full blown racing engine!!! wow real nice project unit dam
Love it love the sounds would like specs
Nice truck sounds pretty good too. Thanks for the video and God Bless my friend.
My father had a 73. It had a supercharged 454 big block, with 1 ton axles. He would destroy cars on the high way pulling a trailer. Rip dad 05/73-2/21
i'm loving this... big wheels or little wheels
always the hater's eh bro!
love that square body. motor sounds awesome with potential! damn what a burn out 🏁
You know after watching this video im convinced i need a dominator
hey great truck what all in it motor. and gear set up. an what trans. thanks rob
👍🏻👍🏻 I gave u two thumbs up. I no what it take to build a trk like tht. I used to like smoking them boggers off to lmao.
what did they put under the hood of that truck!? its like the devil himself and chevrolet had a kid!!
just a little high compression 383 action
Actually when Chevrolet birthed the devils ass baby they named it Duramax, Satan should have given chevy the old coathanger abortion on that one.
BagpipekilR chevy didn’t make the duramax diesels🤦🏽♂️
That is the fucking nuts...looks fast & sounds great..Cant beat that American V8 sound...Thanks for showing us...
Pretty sweet what compression can do for ya 👍
Sweet. Beautiful exhaust tone!
That gives me goosebumps. Sick ass truck
Guys this thing is actually pretty fast for a truck. Now I doubt it's going to run any 12's or 13's on the 1320 but probably not far from it
Awesome truck man looks and sound amazing

Dude I just ordered up an extreme 4x4 cam this afternoon and then watched your video. Fucking savage bro! I can't believe the power you can put to those tires without absolutely scattering the rear end😄👌
it's the compression ratio too making it sound and perform like this
Just picked up a 383 for my square body. Gonna be lots of videos. Man this truck is a beast
Those calling it slow, thats pretty fuckin fast for a MUD TRUCK. To turn those big ass tires and also include that the truck weighs between 4000-5000 pounds, thats pretty fucking fast. I own a truck just like this with a built 350 and it doesn't move nowhere near the way this truck does.

that thing is sweet! love it!
Building my square right now frame the frame up. 1 ton short bed on 37s. Gonna know it’s me when I come through your town💪💪💪
I love those trucks and it has stroker 💕💕💕💣
Great Job!! Would love to learn from ya'll!
just a 383 with alot of money into it. 👏
You cant put alot of money in a 383. I just built a efi forged turbo 383 . Every part aftermarket but the block 5k . Thats the attraction.
LSXs10 Guy that's a $2,000 crate motor... 😂
Its not fun buying fuel, but 12:1 is really fun on the street. LOL .I love it. 388 sbc Chet Herbert custom grind .680 , 312 adv. dur. 108 LSA, K&G ported 462 camel humps (the crutch) (Martin Truex's fathers old heads.) I died when the camera guy said that was pretty impressive. some Hank Hill shit. lol
Anthony Young I'll tell u what
hahaha
Big tires don't mean slow as long as you change your gear ratio to compensate for the larger tires
Badass truck. What size are the rims 16x12 you have
I'd go with a 400sb if I had the choice. Squeezes the maximum cubes out of the block and spools up just as quick.
What’s the lift and tire combo this beast has??
Pretty impresive
What kind of fuel do you run with that compression ratio? Id like to have that engine in my lil 85 toyota. It currently has a small block chevy swapped in it, albeit I have just a tame ol 350 4 bolt main, my sbc prob just makes around 250 or so horsepower but its healthy and dependable.

What did you do for headers on that Toyota?
Love the truck man!!
awesome.....balls out.. bad ass....how much H.P./ torque...n what gear ratio????
Nice truck, big fan
looks like it has a lot of power, big tires, but it's great in the sand, or mud. I see that it has no greep in the road
bigger heavier tires make you alot slower.... taller tires make your gear ratio wider = less acceleration and more top speed in each gear, wider tires increase rolling resistance, road noise and make the clutch slip, wider tires increase grip ONLY on flat surfaces, wider is not always better
Liked that vid for a long time.miss my Scotty 😔
GREAT BUILD BUDD 10S ALL ACROSS THE BORD
Better then music 🎵 I wouldn't care for a stereo 🏁🏁🐎🏋🏿♂️
where's the 4wd hi launch !
got a question for u ..i got a 1990 k5 blazer 700r trans 2000 to 2400 torque converter in it and im thinking about buying this race motor it has 12.5 to 1 sbc 355 030 over with elgin e-1090p solid flat tappet cam with scorpion 1.6 rockers for total lift of 573intake 594 exhust can i use the torque converter i have on this engine,,..i no i got alot of things to change because it is a tbi fuel injection
That's one bad truck 👍🏼
Didn’t think the 383 could make that much power. Holy crap.
Ik video is old, but I'd like to know the details of the engine build and transmission looking to do a similar build.
Whats the cam specs sounds really good
what cam is in it and specs please
What all is on that truck it sounds good
What a BEAST of a motor!
Need to go back to making this body style of trucks they are sweet. Hate the style of new ones on the market.
Can you give me details on this motor build? What transmission was paired with this motor?
What makes this thing rev so fast. I love that instant rpm sound.
the power of compression! 12 to 1 engine on 110 race gas
not necessarily the compression. it could be a solid cam engine with lightweight valve train components, balanced crank, crank oil scraper, small diameter converter, etc.
@@frigglebiscuit7484 Nope
our 288 that looks lime this but white has granny low, but has a bunch of upgrade and can do 20 mph in granny low gear
If I could I would but I can't so I drive a Honda.. Beep Beep!!
you running a matic in this? if so what size stall? that thing fries them big tires
nice man sounds like a quoter mile truck what is the transfer case you are using I am doing the same stuff to my f 150
So jealous of that truck!! I want it
Chevy Power! Yikes....Looks like the circuit mud trucks I see every year here. Race fuel with 12:1. I love it
What size motor and all the work do you have done to that truck cause I’m lookin at motor sizes for my 76 square body build
This truck is killer
Nice truck mate (From a Aussie fan)
Any updates on this pick up? Thanks
is that a 12in lift and 39s?
I don't get why everyone's hating, I'm no chevy guy but fuck dude, that things badass and sounds damn good too.
Lmao. Kinda reminds me of my uncle’s buddy. He could light up his 54” Super Swampers on his street-legal ‘88 Silverado. Never really did very often though because it cost him 3,500 for the set. Haha
Thats what you call power to the ground big tires and rims do the math. the weight@52 lbs. per wheel now that's, impressive.
