I remembered the vid having the world domination board game, as they drink tea and shred standing on the table, and things like “addictive gadgets” & such to sell. But I’d forgotten they refer to “Hollywood Producer”. Funny, cuz 18months later they made a big deal out of traveling to Mew York to work with world famous producer Tony Visconti (known for 70s work with Bowie, TRex, and recently mixed a BabyMetal dvd), he paired his friend’s English lyrics to a Nearly finished Kanami composition (with the usual arrangement by Misa & Akane on bass & drums), and recorded the vocals with Miku & Saiki, apparently changing the melody and slightly editing the music, tho Kanami was thrilled and considered it his stamp of approval of her production... but they made such an event of that song collab, just as Domination vid predicted... the result is “The Dragon Cries”, more bluesy than Metal, don’t know who did the video but it’s good... ua-cam.com/video/skEkpogsmE0/v-deo.html
I love the music videos as it's usually the way the song was recorded, however, I adore the live versions too as the ladies usually tend to add intros and extra solos to the songs....this adds an excitement to their music and just shows how beautifully talented they are! I think it's a wonderful song that highlights many of BM's strengths: songwriting, musicianship and creativity. I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy it (unlike Domination, I think the live version of this song is better than the studio). And before I forget, you might also enjoy BM's alter ego band ("Band Maiko") stuff, esp Gion-Cho and Secret Maiko Lips (mv's are avail on youtube i think). These really show off the band's versatility and overall awesome factor lol.

Interesting reaction. I'm surprised you gave the MV higher rating than the Live version. Yes, the MV is more polished but you can't deny a great band who can execute almost a flawless performance during a live concert. That is a testament of a great band. You can tell a lot about talent when a band can perform as good or better than their studio recordings. Regardless, I do like your take on both versions. Excellent job in articulating your opinion. Having said that, if you want a MV to react to I suggest "RINNE". It has a little bit heavier sound than that you have reacted to so far. Cheers.

While I love Band-Maid (best rock band ever), sometimes knowing the lyrics just adds a little bit more to my enjoyment and not knowing Japanese, sometimes the MV can help me understand the intent of the song. In Domination the MV helps a lot with understanding the song and that can lend just a little bit more enjoyment and I can see why you would rate this one just a bit higher as your rating not just the music, but also the content of the video. The MV DICE for me also has this quality, a bit of understanding based on the content of the video. About your challenge, there is no better hard rock band then Band-Maid and I've been listening to rock since the 1950's. Guess my bias is showing a little.
They are a live band, almost every track that has a live on stage performance beats the MVs hands down. This isn't even a race compared to either of the live versions I've seen on youtube.

If you're comparing just the audio, then there are live versions that are better, but the music video is more than just the audio. That's kind of the point. : ) Satoshi Kohno did a great job with the graphics for this one. He's also the guy that designed their ribbon logo.

At the risk of raising the hackles of some commenters here, I'm going to side with you that the MV is really pretty freakin' great, and if someone wants to rate it ever-so-slightly above the live, I have zero problems with that. I agree that the MV visuals do help a lot, especially for someone relatively new to Band-Maid. Also, I think the WORLD DOMINATION mix of this song is perfect. Yes, we miss all the awesome extra solos and crowd interaction and Saiki commandeering a stage; but the original studio cut lays down every instrumental line cleanly, nobody gets marginalized in the mix, and nothing gets "compressed." If you want Band-Maid MVs that are formatted in a more of a storytelling mode, you might want to check out Don't You Tell Me and Gion-cho (which has English subs), both on the official channel.

Hmm? Who on earth could give the MV a higher score than the Line Cube Shibuya live version? Don’t ever recall reading that sort of comments. Edit: actually my main gripe with the Domination MV is that it was uploaded with a very low volume for some reason. The video is actually very interesting indeed. I live the visuals and “story” much more than Dice, which was released at the same time. And then the live version appeared which has that very special extra bit in the middle...
This is a killer video, but the song, like all good music, is truly best live. I do love the video, but I would say that it gives the live version a 10. It's the interaction in the instrumental bits that gives the live version that little something extra. Check oit Moratorium, or Blooming! (The latter only, officially, has a MV available.) Daydreaming is another great song that has both a live and MV. Different kind of pace and feel, but just an incredible song.

But live, they prove they can bring it on stage, which not every band can claim. uh..... Domination live is scads better than the MV. Not sure what kind of colorado brownies folk are chowing on while hugging their waifu pillows. For one you don't get the crowd energy, Saiki is much more on point live, and you don't get the extended breakdown and solo. I love their studio stuff, don't get me wrong. The videos are great, but in literally every case, their pro shot live performances DESTROY their studio stuff, in regards the actual musical performance.
Recorded is recorded. It can never change. Live is live and that changes almost every single time a song is performed. Try appreciating each for what it is. Every single huge band that l have ever witnessed never play the same song the same way twice. Never. The Dead, Led Zeppelin, the Who or practically any giant act in rock music. Does anyone think that those groups l mentioned and several notable others recorded music has suffered because their live performances of the same tune are so often very different from the studio release? If you do something is wrong with your thinking process. Once a record is made it can't be changed. That is until a "live in concert" greatest hits album is released. And the band simply is not near that point yet where they are even close to relying on their laurels. Now before someone gets their nickers in a bunch. I have seen these ladies live and l totally agree they excel at live performance to a degree that is rare indeed. I had a quasi religious experience at the Echoplex. But that in no way has any bearing on any and all previously recorded material. A CD is a CD and a concert is a concert. And Band-Maid is the very best at what they do anywhere in the world.
