It's not just the fact that this is one of the best value, best built superminis money can, buy... It's what lies underneath that counts too! Based on the same secure, safe chassis that underpins the excellent Volkswagen Polo, the Fabia offers space, pace and practicality in equal measure. A new 1.2-litre TSI engine, which gets both a supercharger and a turbocharger adds a sporty yet economical dimension to the line up -- which includes both hatchback models and a capable estate. We really like the optional seven speed semi-automatic gearbox, which is easy to use and adds to fuel economy. Capable of matching the sleek Ford Fiesta for driver appeal, the Fabia's more conservative looks, and all round versatility also appeals to those for whom the Ford's styling is just a bit too wild.

@@tommyfin962 really? Where are the older reviews? Or was this a TV show or something else?
Remember this lad before starting his brand new channel carwow?
I drove a Fabia for a brief time when learning to drive and I have to say that it was a lovely little car that was very good in almost every way. Miles ahead of the Corsa I also used.
is it easy to drvie? i m a new driver
yolo hip yes it is: it’s got light steering, really good visibility, hasn’t got tricky gears and a fairly punchy engine despite only being a 1.2. I now own a VW Polo, which is basically the same, and it has all of those traits. So a basic one is a great first car, then bump up to a VRS or a Polo GTI in due course.
@@TheClarksonFan Thank you very much i appreciate your help!! I want a 1.2 as a first car and i m thinking about opel corsa, seat ibiza, scoda fabia or vw polo!! I see reviews and i m trying to decide which will be the ideal for a first car!!
yolo hip well the Polo, Fabia and Ibiza are all essentially the same car - the Polo (which I’m a proud owner of) has a more luxurious interior but a higher cost, the fabia has a more utilitarian interior but a lower cost, the Ibiza sits between the two whilst looking more sporty than both. In my experience the Corsa had really heavy steering, a tricky clutch, and quite a lethargic engine as well.
@@TheClarksonFan Oh i understand! So as it goes for driving experience in order these cars you d put vw polo no1 and seat ibiza or scoda fabia in the second place?
people who think fabia tsi isn't good they have no clue about cars. I'm not saying that fabia is the best supermini but the TSI version is a great surprise. I drove one in 2010 when it was first released and two years later i bought one.Concerning the looks, fabia is dull but classic, definitely not a very modern-looking car but driving it will convince you that it is a great option for a city car with lots of space for trips too.I really love the fact that the feeling you have when driving it, is that it will never betray you.fast and spacious.i keep my money for other things fabia TSI at 13,000euros is more car for less euros. except if you thing that driving a clio or a polo will make you look cooler.People who know how to spend their money would never pay much for a city car like paying 22.000 euros for a brand new mini. All those cars in second hand market cost less than 13,000 euros at 45.000km.Cars are to fulfill our transportation needs and fabia does it more that you think.Drive it once and you will understand what i mean,
I just drove the 1.2 TSI elegance today.. better overall inclusing drive than the polo, fiesta and i20.
Skoda really pulles out the stops here i can't understand why there's so much badge snobbery!
montego24 I own a Fabian 1.2 Fabia htp 2010 plate ,made me sell my vw polo 2012 plate as is drove better and had a surprisingly high suspension making it feel like a much bigger car
Engine isn't the best for reliability
hi Mat, you have made so much progress in this industry
you appear in so many channels
The first Carbuyer review. Nice one !
The first joke he ever made was the best joke he ever made 😂
My Fabia same model & colour as vidio ! Is the most reliable car I've ever owned! Family of four pack 4 cases easily, or camping trip including 2 dogs! It's a little loud engine wise, ( not an issue) it's good on fuel , it's nippy enough even with full load! I've had it 2 years ,passed both mots, no doubt for its 3rd at all! Brilliant cars! I'd rather drive a skoda knowing it will start every day then a ford that lets you down constantly!
I drive a 2008 Fabia 1.2 69 hp. Its got pretty good punch, but its a bit too high revving on the motorway, but its stable and comfortable, and reliable!
One day this guy will start a car channel that is so popular.

I own a Fabia with 60PS from 2013 and I love it. The maintenance is so cheap...i replaced the brakes for 120€. The handling is also very nice and the car is very stable and compfortable. Even though it just has 60 PS, I don't have any problems with the mountains here. I live at the steepest street in this region and I can still take it in second gear. The interior design is pretty basic for a car of this class, the plastic is high quality. I love the spacious trunk and back seats.
Its honestly the best car i got the 1.2 2014 i love the way it pulls 🤣
Is the engine noisy?
...and 14 years later I've just bought one, it seems to have survived the test of time pretty well, and with a 1.2 TDI engine we're 70+mpg 👌
It's a beast :]
Also Skoda has the coolest logo design ever, on its badge
1.2 is for city only. Skoda just released new Rapid liftback if you are interested. Also I think the best engine for Fabia would be 1.6 TDI CR 55 kW, since it has 70 mpg, 109 g/km CO2 and never struggle with power. The 1,2 is mainly for lower speeds with constant stop/go cycle for city thats why it has most of power in lower gears.
He didn't lie about the space, theres plenty of it, i'm just over 6 ft and I felt small driving this thing. It's very responsive on the throttle too in lower gears unlike some cars like the corsa for instance. Good at hill climbing.. However the 1.2 litre is pretty loud once you get above 50 and the power seems to vanish after 4th gear... debating on getting this or a fiesta..
1:13 voice crack😂
And this is when the career started off…
Anyone from 2021?

Is this Mat's first video?
Hi.. baby Mat😁👊
Hi younger mat Watson... Well he is now in carwow... And only legends watch the video after 11 years
Hi young Mat. You throw stuff in 2021. Just to let you know.
OMG Matt has reviewed my first car🥹
Crazy to think he has been reviewing car for 14 years till now
He’s been doing it since 2006 I think
0:00 Matt Watson, the legend has born
Look young mat watson😂
Skodas are great and durable, not sure why people turn up their noses at them.
I have the fabia, 2000 ☺️☺️
Carbuyer is best at reviewing cars! I love this guy, and the reviews are perfect! Also, the video quality is fantastic!
hello you still there?
the video quality isn't that fantastic now is it
I think carbuyer's first video is that one
Reliability, easy to tune, SR20DET best 4 cylinder ever made, also the most reliable engine ever made, RB26DETT best engine ever made can make 1900hp. SR20DET can make 500hp on stock internals.
Personally, skodas aren't my favourite type of car buy this model is a really spacious supermini
The interiour is much nicer if you get it in black, not in that light gray which the car in the video has. Maybe the ivory coloured interour is also nice, but you only get that with the highest spec model.
Looks pretty cute, like a swift
when the legend is born
Airy and light in here. Ha! i just tested one and was astounded by how claustrophobic it felt. The windshield was so low, I felt like my eyes came to the top of the window and could barely see out the back window. If visibility doesn't bother you, I would say this car is wonderful!
0:23 now shopping bags cos 5p i'm gonna buy a trolley for £1
the 2007-present Skoda Fabia is assembled in
Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic
Aurangabad, India
Oskemen, Kazakhstan
Shanghai, China
Solomonovo, Ukraine
Best car reviewer ,good job mate :)

I have fabia. I like this car. Very powerful engine, very smooth steering and gear. vibration is very less at high speed. The only problem with this car is its distributor. maintenance is costly. Average is less and little more noisy compare to honda. But overall good car.
Our Fabia test car with turbocharged engine is different in color and has a steereng wheel on the wrong side :-)
I just bought a new Skoda Fabia Family (2012) 1.6tdi estate with 90 BHP.
If u want proper economical ness get the 1.2 3 cylinder diesel Greenline version as that apparently dose 94 mpg and u can also get it in a estate version.
Don't really lnow what was shameful on owning an 130 or a Favorit/Felicia, especially in a country that has produced cars like Marina, Allegro and so on :P But you're rightm they had a lot of problems and Škoda made a big step forward since then
Been in one of those, the biggest let down is the plastics quality used on the dashboard, I didn't expect the interior to be exciting but I would have expected to see quality material used, and instead it feels like really cheap thin plastics, it even seems to be worse than previous generation regarding plastic quality.
hey younger met wattson😅
I love this car
This is base models , no rear center headrest
hi. I got a fabia (sportline - means it has a few more extras, sport seats and 2 colors) and am very happy with it since 2 years. wouldnt want another car. cannot confirm the steering wheel problems. and the motor is a matter of smart choice aswell ^^. I found the interiod a bit boring, thats why I did som alterations there (white/red fake leather seats for example). the 4th gear is a bit short (1.4 l 16v), but: love my baby!
"that will be me in a couple of weeks!" LOL!!
I got a Fabia as a hire car a while back. By no means a bad car - seemed very economical too. But I didn't like it. Dull and boring to drive. Not very nice looking either, especially in base trim like here. This post does not reflect my thoughts of the VRS model however ;-)
really nice program
You can also get the Fabia with glove boxes instead of cubbies
yeah i like skoda :D :D
first comment on a mat watson review
I own a 2013 1.2 12v Skoda Fabia, which I puchased 1 year ago as a 1 owner car with 120000km and a full Skoda service history. Within 1 month of ownership I was advised by Skoda that it needed the timing chain and tensioner replaced. This was a 1100 Euro repair at the dealership. Wow! Aside from this unpleasant surprise, there is nothing bad about the car, but there is nothing great about it either. Its a thoroughly more modern car to drive compared to my 2007 Fiat Punto 1.2 8v. But my Punto is a more enjoyable car to drive (especially on the open road) and it feels considerably more solid in its build quality and durability (especially the interior fit and finish). The Punto definitely costs much less to maintain and repair, and repairs have been few and far between. From an ownership point of view, the Fiat Punto has been at least as good as and in many aspects superior to the Skoda Fabia . If your thinking about a Skoda your probably looking for a basic car on a budget. Do your homework because they're not particularly cheap to service and they have proven to be quite expensive to repair when something goes wrong.
Is this the first carbuyer review?
A few days late but yes.
One of thee best look, sure better than vw Polo.
Now mate works for carwow and he has 3M subs
Currently £8995 1.4 MPI SE, what a bargain!
Hi Matt!
Hi Mat! :D
I'm considering to buy Renault twingoo or Skoda fabia 1.2 ... the only reason i liked Twingo is the look but im not sure about the practicality as it's only 4 seats comparing to Skoda fabia 5 seats .. also I'm not sure about the engine been in the back if it will make any difference on Twingo .
which one would you commander for a first time buyer .
I'd go for Fabia

1.2 TSI 105bhp everybody... that is all!
look - sunny day!
Idk why Skodas with this front design always sound like Diesel. I own a roomster petrol engine 1.6 and also sounds like a Diesel. They are quite loud during acceleration.
Because three cilinder engine sounds like diesel.
He sounds exactly the same 14 years later
Matt when he was 22
is he actually 22 in this video?
@@jaden_ong no, he was 26 here.
Negatives:
1.23 cylinder engine almost sounds like a diesel.
Handling is more competent rather than compelling.
Interior is a little bit drab.
Skoda is a little bit bland next to a Mazda 2 and Ford Fiesta.
Lemmy: Only one thing to do...
#respectVW
the interior on my father skoda which is from 2007 is much better... i guess you didnt buy a skoda with best interior have you??? like display for automatic climate... i agree on the steering wheel... way to soft... also the clutch is a bit hard, at least on out 1.4 16v skoda. if i compare my clio to it... clio is inferior to interior and is far less spacious(of course it has only 3 doors), but has a harder steering wheel and a softer clutch. and in my case its faster :D cheers
Is your father skoda mk1, first generation. I have 2007 skoda fabia and it has better interior than this one, with soft touch materials
Exactly
Me and my partner drive that Ford Ka atm :P But were upgrading in august To A Smart ForTwo Hehe
very satisfied with this practical car....very spacious, no headache and good for my wallet...hahaha!....well infact i trade in my old scoda (fabia) to get another new scoda car. just waiting for my brand new car.
Whats the driving comfort like - suspension wise?
This is go to be my first car💗🤣
Mine too!
@qwertyaltr can't agree more ,, I treat my 2004 fabia sedan even worse than how I treat those how love kia haha, no really I abuse my fabia reving up all day cornering with high speed and late service every time .. and it never broke down since the year of manufacturing.
It's a VW Polo... How can that be not dependable?
What year version is this. It looks like 2015???
travis Hook 2010 I think, the old green badge stopped being used from 2013
travis Hook it is 2010 u stupid
But if you don't like this great little car........ waist your money on an Audi of BMW!!!......
Going To Get One :D
Had two Skoda's a 2003 fabia 1.4tdi comfort estate and a 2007 Octavia, will never buy another.Dull as ditchwater to drive and although nothing major went wrong it was niggle after niggle after niggle to the point of despair...traded the fabia to the dealer to get rid,all I did was buy a bigger car with the same issues.crappy cars imo.
17 jun 2010
I don't know whether to laugh really hard or to say you're heavily biased. If anything, since I'm a American with no prior knowledge to Skoda, I'd agree with you.
Really? What car do you own?
Hello Matthew Watson young version
well we all have different opinions abd i think the new one looks better!
a younger mat
that was certainly a poverty spec model. If you want a bit more performance out of it. If your Fabia can fit them use 165/70R14 tyres. Smallest rotational mass and you can certainly feel the difference from 195/55R15. Especially in N/A engines
@u1430 You know, I don't think there really are any ugly cars on the market today. In recent memory I can only think of the Fiat Multipla and that horrendous Honda.
2020?
Ok kid!
Bu kanalı neden bıraktı
Somone help me im 25 year old man and i want a car can somone prefer some car?
You just upset because your dad drives a bottom of the range 2003 Ford Ka!
Nothing about the poor sound proofing, or lack of any. Or bad seats.
Wow matt looks terrible now!
cause VW polo is NOT dependable...and skoda is always worse...
For exaple cables, and all around electronic is always problem in skoda. First decent car by skoda is new octavia but only time will prove its quality...
hello
Bought one, will never ever own another skoda-been nothing but trouble-looked after it well/fsh serviced as per book.....they go wrong for fun and my local dealer only cares about removing money from my wallet...utter shite.
@robynofrye
The Fabia is a decent car and I enjoyed driving it. My uncle has it and I'd take it for a drive whenever I get the chance.
