I think the Kiev elite went into this with open eyes, they seem to have thought that a war with Russia was inevitable anyway but that they could win with the backing of NATO. Kiev and Washington seem to have talked each other into a shared, blissful bubble of thinking that with a few hard jolts, trade sanctions and some Ukro-NATO gusto, Russia would collapse within six months without the West even sending any regular troops to the front. The F--rer said something very similar about Russian weakness in 1941.

However, let's be honest, without Western weapons and money, Zelensky is just an actor who decided to rob his own theater.
Why is Zelensky stealing? Because he does not believe in the value of honest work. Why is Zelensky lying? For the same reason he steals. Why is Zelensky hysterical? Because he himself is now standing over a mass grave into which he has driven hundreds of thousands of people with his lies. Why does Zelensky still want to be seen as president? In order not to be responsible for the tragedy he endorses and to still be able to steal and lie.
For these reasons, honest people who think about their own future and that of their loved ones choose Russia and President Putin.

I found a fascinating article in Foreign Affairs this morning. Its titled "Ukraine Can Still Win", and they actually troop out the exact same arguments they've made all along, with no changes whatsoever. Its all how advanced and superior "Western" equipment is, how many "hundreds" of thousands of losses Russia has had, how they have needed to replace all of those trained troops with untrained ones, and they think that "Western" combined armed approaches would defeat Russia (presumably because they worked against Sadaam Hussein and the Taliban).
Its worth a read because it demonstrates how delusional it is possible for these people to be, and how dangerous they are.

@@NrthrnKnght Clearly you have never looked at a map of the US military bases and done zero research in how large the US military logistics system is. The US military is the king of moving things across an ocean to fight a war. Thats the only thing the US military has done since 1917, is fight across the Atlantic or Pacific ocean. The US military was and is better able to supply its troops in Germany or the Baltic than Russia after a month of war in Ukraine. And the US is really good at striking those key nodes in enemy supply lines, the things the Russia need to move their army around.
The US and the west has sent around a hundred modern tanks to Ukraine. Russia lost about 1500 of tanks and is forced to use T-55's at the front. If the US got serious about supplying everything Ukraine needed it could flood Ukraine with more tanks and apc's than Russia has. Heck if the US happened to leave other hardware around for Ukraine to use it could start doing even more damage to Russia oil infrastructure.

I remember the mantra “Russia lost,” which Western politicians vied with each other to repeat - it was like auto-training in front of a mirror. Sometimes it seems that the Western elite is influenced by idea that "your mind shapes reality." They think that if they want something very badly and constantly say so, then it will become a reality. This idea has been popular in the West for the last few decades. Usually such “recipes for success” impress women and various narrow-minded people. They begin to repeat to themselves “I am beautiful”, “I am happy”, etc., but they do not become any of this, because reality is objective and does not depend on someone’s subjective opinion about it. The second point: the stronger someone develops desires, the more he suffers, plus his consciousness is distorted, such people become less and less adequate.
