Shane’s current design with the rounded face and unshaved beard looks like a kind-hearted but world-weary man who hasn’t been taking care of himself as much as he should. It makes me wonder what he was like when he was younger, and want to help him get back on his feet. Shane’s original design makes me want to call the police.

I kind of wish Abigail's hair colour could be changed to the older versions when she asks about dying her hair. If you were to rank the Dwarf Scrolls, which order would you put them in?
The cool thing about when we win Shane over and he smiles shyly is that his eyes go back to how they were before, with that happy glow. And I love seeing all his expressions... I love Shane
i do kind of dig alex's country boy hair. abigail's teal hair absolutely rips. elliot SHOULD have an earring. it suits him. i like emily's OG design, but i think her current expression suits her vibe better. i agree that harvey needs the 'stache. fully agree with your haley takes. the current design fits her personality so much better than those top row options especially. sam has always been an anime protag and i love that for him. i like leah's updo hair and the full down, but i think her having it braided makes sense for her work. sebastian's posture getting better over time is hilarious considering his profession (he do be shrimpin over that computer). maru with curls would be divine. side shave shane looks like a fallout character. penny does strike me as the type to put a lot of care into her clothes, so even if they are a little old, i bet she takes good care of them and keeps them in good repair.

I can probably explain some of Haley’s design for non original harvest moon players… She’s the stardew version of Karen from the old games. Bitchy, pain in the butt, easy to win over. The first design you pointed out looks like her with blonde hair and full body (they used chibi style). The head band one is an 80s look. CA most likely was deciding if he should make the game 80s, 90s or modern.

Honestly, the base game Elliott creeps me out, with the way he's always reacting and looking at you out of the corner of his eye, instead of turning his head. Sooo glad for mods!! Elliott is my favorite bachelor but I can't handle the creepiness of his base game portrait. 😁😅
Hello fellow Shane-lover! I love Shane too! I'm SO glad we have the Shane we have now! Shane's portrait is my favourite, especially when he's happy, such a lovely smile. And I recognise some of those older designs cus I'm using Slightly Cuter Characters mod and we have the Elliott that isn't a face profile (the one before the current one was in the mod), I don't like the face-profile sprite photos when talking to them, like Elliott and Sandy. I think for Maru, pink hair stay but definitely the texture hair curl! It make more sense due to her being mixed race and daughter of Demetrius, and we don't have any other characters that have natural texture curly hair. My only gripe is - Leah, Abigail and Penny all look like they could be related to each other. If I was making the character sprite portraits, I'd leave Leah as it is because we don't know what her family looks like, so for Abigail, at least give her some resemblance to her parents, Pierre (or Wizard???) and Caroline (and Caroline is so pretty!), and Penny have some resemblance to her mother, Pam. I would totally love Abigail to have teal colour hair too, it looks great on her!

I use a Mod to give Maru back her old design. Maru is BY FAR the Character I hate the Portrait the most. Its so fucking ugly compared to her old portraits.
