- See the history of the Tour De France since it's beginning in 1903. The overall winner of the Tour De France claims the famous yellow jersey. However, each stage has it's own winner on the day. Whether it is a time trial, mountain stage or a sprint there have been some amazing stages of the Tour De France throughout history.
This bar chart race video shows the Tour De France Stage Winners 1903-2023 and gives an overview of cycling history in the world's biggest race.
The race is obviously held in France and the host nation has had a lot of stage win success in the Tour De France. Famous riders like Jean Avaloine, Andre Leducq, Charles Pelissier, Rene Le Greves, Andre Darrigade, Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault have won lots of Tour De France Stages.
Lance Armstrong (United States of America) and his 22 stage wins have been removed from the record books by the UCI due to doping. However, his wins have been left in this video.
Current rider Mark Cavendish (Great Britain) is looking to break Eddy Merckx (Belgium) stage wins record. Currently, both riders are on 34 stage wins. Can Mark Cavendish break the record and add another stage win. Will Mark Cavendish become the most successful stage winner in Tour De France history.
Current riders Tadej Pogacar (Slovenia) and Jonas Vingegaard (Denmark) have 2 overall Tour wins apiece. Will they add more stage wins as they chase more yellow jersey success? Other young riders that can seemingly win any type of stage are Wout Van Aert, Mathieu Van Der Poel and Remco Evenepoel. Will they climb the list?
Which rider has the most Tour De France Stage Wins in history?

Well that's my video out of date 😂 Chapeau Mark Cavendish 😊
Great video btw...you'll just have to edit it now 😂
@@ericasher5989 😂
Hahaha!
Pogi also appears on the ladder now
@@alexsumorsaete2135 yes he is flying up the chart now! In the top 20. Do you think he can ever overtake Cavendish?
Today, Mark Cavendish has won the 5th stage and is placed first in the ranking!
@@marcosracicing Yes, I watched the whole stage. Amazing win for Cavendish! :-)
You should remove Armstrong though
@@renzohorner2542 I respect your opinion but I prefer to have a winner and because his wins could not be awarded to anyone else (due to widespread doping in his era) I decided to leave him in :-) There are many others in this list who were also drug cheats too... Merckx and Anquetil for example
Fantastic video mate
Thank you :-)
what a super video!! an update is urgent needed. Cavendish deserves it!! For sure a new update is then no longer needed so quickly
@@yootubeyootube cheers! I'm pleased you liked the video :-) I'll hopefully be able to do an update soon. Pogacar is climbing the chart fast as well 😅

Time for an edit...
Haha I know, only stayed in date for 5 days after posting. I'm pleased though as I was hoping he'd break the record!

Fingers crossed for Mark Cavendish. Hopefully he can take the lead this year 🤞🏻
I think he can do it! 🤞
Nah, I'm team Merckx :P
@@MicroageHD Enjoy the Tour :-)

There is a mistake: Lance Armstrong has two stage wins at the Tour de France, not 22.
It was a deliberate mistake on my part. I left them in as in my opinion that whole era was tainted. Just like his 7 GC Wins could not be awarded to anyone else due to widespread doping. I prefer to have a winner rather than no one but I appreciate people will have different opinions on this. You are right though the record now states he has 2 stages (1993 and 1995) and zero GC.
@@Statzillawhen i am right His GC noone Else get but the Stage wins got new wonners
@@NNRedemption I don't think his stage wins were awarded to anyone else. The Tour De France website will show you that they have been left winnerless. I decided to leave them to Lance as I prefer a winner but obviously some may disagree. Enjoy the Tour! :-)
Cavendish!
@@DanielSong39 brilliant isn't he! His win this year is one of the best sporting moments in history in my opinion ;-)
gotta take out Lance and then re-count for the 2nd place guys in those stages. But otherwise awesome.
@@binghamhumber Cheers, I just went for the approach they took with the 7 GC that Lance was stripped of. They couldn't award them to anyone due to widespread doping so I didn't want to award a stage win to someone else that was also a doper. Appreciate the feedback though :-)
It’s be funnier if he kept his name up there at 22, then eliminated him in whatever year he was stripped.
@@TomDelRosario 😂
@@TomDelRosario Was waiting for this to be honest, would've been wonderful to see
Show us on the doll where Armstrong touched you.
You can remove the ones from Armstrong, He has been offically cleared of Le Tour
Two stage wins are valid, from 93 and 95, he hadn't been caught then, so...
Yes, I left him in as I prefer a winner and potentially no one clean to award his wins to in his era. I prefer to have a winner so decided to leave Lance Armstrong in. I appreciate people will have a different opinion but that is mine. Enjoy the Tour :-)
Why don’t you fix it?
@@robnickelsen6650 can't edit videos. Would have to do a new one but no point until the Tour ends as Cavendish may win again or Pogacar who would now make the top 20 also

Enlever aemtrong
No, I'll leave him in as I prefer to have a winner. None of his wins could be awarded to anyone else due to widespread doping in his era so I would have no one else to award those wins to. Just my opinion obviously and I appreciate that others may disagree but it's my video ... :-)
Remove the american cheater please.
@@mathiasgrenacs3680 I will leave him in. Basically everyone is his era was a cheat and there would be no one to award his wins to (which is why they are officially blank in the record books). I prefer to have a winner though. I know people will disagree but that's my opinion :-)
@@Statzilla It's easy to recognize a cheater on Tour de France. It's the ones with a bicycle.
@@snowfighter62 😂 they have a chequered past for sure. Let's hope it's cleaner nowadays 😅😅
Tadej Pogačar erasure?
@@nathanielFalck this video was created before the 2024 Tour so Pogacar would not have featured. However, with his wins this year he would now rank 8th with 17 wins! Maybe he'll challenge Cavendish one day ...
