I Really appreciate how you effectively articulate the highlights of owning this timepiece. I’ve never owned a watch with a GMT complication and have been seriously considering this colorway. Your insights have secured my decision to acquire this masterpiece as my first GMT watch.
I really enjoyed your review of the GMT II "Root Beer"! I just received this watch as a gift from a friend and I'm still blown away...first by the gift itself and second, by the extraordinary beauty and uniqueness of the watch design and build. Well done!
Hello im Diego I love your videos This week I could pick my rootbeer and Im very very excited. Thank you very much for your profesional videos, you have an awesome sense of personal grooming and your advices help people a lot. Los of thanks😌🙏🏻
Great review Ash. A very timely video for me as my AD called me last Friday confirming that my Rootbeer would be arriving next Tuesday (4th May) for collection. I can't wait 😁
You do such a wonderful job of these Rolex reviews. Please keep doing EXACTLY what you do!! Impeccably dressed...reviewing an impeccable watch. Thank you so much!
I watches this when it came out.....i ordered the CHNR, one year later i got the call and im watching it again! with a wimbledon and a CHNR now all in 1 year 1 month! pretty happy
Recently traded my Batman towards the Rootbeer. I'm thrilled with it, absolutely a stunning watch with the rose gold and brown. Couldn't agree with you more. I also have Mark 2 Starbucks Sub that I love and found myself not wearing the Batman. This watch is so classy and totally different. Love it, great review!!!
Nice - and I love the way it co-ordinates with the jacket ;-) On a negative note: it is sadly true about Rolex being a potential security hazard. I honestly think one would be much safer moving around in an inner city wearing a white gold or platinum dress watch from Patek, Lange or Journe! These wouldn't have the same kudos (certainly not in the eyes of the un-washed public) but they also wouldn't really ping on a criminal's radar. Seen from a little distance away, which street thug is even going to be able to distinguish between, say, a Calatrava and a Danial Wellington? But every criminal knows _exactly_ what a Rolex looks like! And he also knows that it can be quickly and easily monetised for a tidy sum - even without box and papers... (As I say, I don't want to sound negative here - but people do need to be aware of the risks and to act streetwise...)
I'm afraid it's just one of the consequences of the Rolex madness, which seems to have gripped people over the last 5-years. Hopefully another brand will become 'hot' soon and us genuine Rolex fans can enjoy them without the negative connotations which affect them today.
Have this model here in the USA. You are correct, it is definitely striking in more ways than one. I had a choice of obtaining the superman, batman, Pepsi, sprite or the batgirl. I choose the rootbeer, as she has a tone and contrast unique for this model. Happy wearing of your model, cheers! 😂😂😂
A very beautiful watch. One side of me thinks that I will never afford one and the other side is smacking me around the head and telling me to get a better job. 😁
Mine came after a lifetime of thinking and saving - but it feels worth the effort when I look down to read the time now. Always worth having a goal on the horizon - you never know when good fortune may come calling - I sincerely wish you some good fortune in your life journey soon!!
Many thanks for a great review Ash, I am coming up to my 60th soon and have been torn between a number of models but on watching your review for the second time, I have now made my decision, a Rootbeer GMT it is. I have a friend who is going to introduce me to our local AD within the next few weeks so fingers crossed I may be sporting one by Xmas. Wish me luck and keep up the great work, keen fan of all Chaps Guide content, great channel.
This is my favorite modern GMT. I do wish the lugs were more slimmed down akin to the changes made to the Sub/EXII but the color scheme is gorgeous. The Pepsi is actually my least favorite modern iteration, as the colors are simply not right to the roots. Honestly, I actually like the original ceramic Pepsis that had the Purple/Pink bezels more because they were quite unique and resembled the patina on some of the vintage models. Every GMT by Rolex is a winner though...
Such an awesome real life and honest review of the watch. Something you rarely see from other channels which just show and review brand new unworn watches. Keep up the awesome videos. Instant new subscriber.
You can clearly feel a difference between the bi-metals and steel watches in heft. Especially the bracelet, it feels much more flimsy and light on the steel watches. The top on the watch also feels heavier when worn on the wrist because of the gold bezels.
I would hardly refer to modern steel Rolex bracelets as “flimsy”. Modern steel Rolex watches in general feel as hefty as some PM watches from other brands.
@@mikec3454 The steel models feel flimsy in comparisson. But this makes sense consindering gold is over twice as dense as steel. So the bi-metal bracelets will weigh alot more than the all steel ones.
I have reserved an GMT of any kind for all ADs around southern California for 2 years and still be waiting. I wondered how did you get your GMT rootbeer in 2 months.
A good review and love the root beer colour, much more than the pepsi, or batman, but just don't like two tone gold bracelets on a tool watch And just dont get me started on Rolex AD's and flipping market - enjoy
I don't like a two tone bracelet either. It just seems like too much to me. I wear my Submariner two tone bluesy on a vintage leather strap and it is a very striking, sophisticated look. I have seen one picture of the root beer on leather and it is amazing.
Very honest review, rolex is not my bag. I feel for the cost, yes they retain there value, which is great, but they are overpriced to begin with. Love the jacket and waistcoat, is it a full suit? The colour really pops with the watch.
It's just the jacket and waistcoat - I declined the slacks, as I found the entire ensemble a bit 'too much'. I wear grey flannels with the coat to offset it's striking nature.
I think im going to trade my batman for this rolex rootbeer. I love it. I just wish it had a jubilee band. Thankfully, my wimbledon rose steel DJ 41mm... has a jubilee band.
Does your Tudor GMT get less wrist time now and do you intend on keeping it in your collection? Great content, keep up the good work - it’s much appreciated!
I am sorry to say that the Tudor has indeed slipped in wrist time since the Rolex GMT joined my small watch family. But, it does have its place and I wear it in places I would never wear the Rolex, such as camping, working outdoors and mountain biking, where the Root Beer would look out of place. To answer the other part of your question, if I did have to downsize my small collection, I think that the Tudor would be at risk, not because of its identity or value, but because of its size. At 41mm and chunky as well, it is a big old lad on my small/medium wrist. But it's safe at the moment.
I bought the Pepsi stainless steel on an oyster bracelet. But man, I was torn between this watch and the Pepsi. I hoping a friend buys this watch and we can swap for a while.
There is a brand a love and that is Grand Seiko. Handmade automatic watches with greatest precision and best materials. Price is according to what you get. I like the elegance line. They also have a Rolex type (SBGA229) . Only thing is the resale value if you take it as an investment. Rolex is a brand like Mercedes Benz alway top value whie Grand Seiko is like Lexus as good but lower resale value.
I have admired GS from afar for many years, however, they are a pricey item and for my limited budget I prefer the security of a brand like Rolex, but in the future I would certainly love to add a GS to my collection.
Gorgeous piece It’s on my list . I’m waiting on my Pepsi which I’m told won’t be long now and think this will definitely come after . Like yourself fancy a little gold in the collection. I tried the solid gold and it was way to much for my tastes . It really does stand out like a beacon on wrist and made me feel a little uncomfortable. At well over 200g meant it was also very heavy which would have resulted in wrist fatigue . If a piece is not comfortable I’m just not interested.so definitely the two tone for me ..
Good luck with your Pepsi, I may pursue a BLNR model in the future (I already have a Tudor Pepsi GMT) but I have a few more on the wish list before I will get a second Rolex GMT, but I have been really impressed with the watch in general.
I don’t understand the overwhelming popularity of divers, like a Sub or SMP. A GMT is a far more useful function to have. We’re far more likely to travel or have family/friends living abroad. Having previously owned the Sub 114060 and now a BLNR, I’ll choose the GMT everyday. It’s more comfortable too being nearly 1mm thinner.
It is perhaps larger than more traditional gents watches, but this size is now smaller than most modern men’s watches. I personally prefer smaller pieces, this is as big as I will ever go.
@@TheChapsGuide I’ll never forget that I was wearing the same GMT (but black steel model) and a female colleague actually said the watch looks small on me!!! I have an average/smaller wrist and wear vintage 34/35mm watches, this was 7-8 years ago but I still remember being shocked!
The best looking Rolex GMT period
Yup and pics don’t even do it justice
By far and away the most comprehensive review of this gorgeous piece. I’ve become even MORE enamoured with it now!!
Glad you like it!
This is a beautiful watch. My favorite GMT. Thanks for the video!
My favorite two tone model from Rolex!
Agreed
I have one in person absolutely gorgeous...
So excited to finally get the call for my Rootbeer from my AD two week ago! Absolutely love it!
Beautiful piece, favorite watch in my collection

Most thorough breakdown of the rootbeer I've come across. Should have mine on my wrist next week! 😁
Subbed 👌
Glad it was helpful!
A very handsome watch that radiates High Class.
12mm thick reduces the chunkiness that I see in some other models IMO.
Another excellent review.
Totally agree

I am excited for your new purchase. The CHNR is a true joy to wear and really brightens up the day. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Beautiful watch, out of my price range but a joy to watch this review. Goes well with your outfit! Thanks from Mississauga Ontario Canada.
Thanks for watching!

Much appreciated!
I'm on the waiting list now. It's a stunning timepiece, for sure.
Wonderful review. I too purchased the CHNR to mark a special occasion. Wear it in good health.
You too sir!!
I watches this when it came out.....i ordered the CHNR, one year later i got the call and im watching it again! with a wimbledon and a CHNR now all in 1 year 1 month! pretty happy
A close second to the two tone black subby only pipped as the glide lock is such a great system

pro tip: you can watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching loads of movies recently.
@Dario Idris yea, I've been using Flixzone for since november myself =)
congrats sir, the only contemporary GMT I'd go for. enjoy!
Just added this one to my collections. Love it! Thanks for the nice and professional review!

Good luck with the GMT hunt. Its a tough watch to track down, but I must admit - it is my favourite (don't tell my Submariner).
Yes you will probably be sporting one by xmas 2027
Brilliant vid! I need to add this to my collection... as soon as they do it on Jubilee 😊
Will that happen? 🥺

Awesome review! Added this one to my collection. Beautiful watch!
This is such an amazing video! I'm so glad I found it!
Great review, lovely watch. Side question: where did you get that pocket square? It's a lovely splash of colour.
It’s from Soho Scarves, a great little company where I get most of my squares and cravats.
Got this today from my AD!! omg it is beautyfull!
Great looking suit Ash! Thanks for the review.
You’re looking sharp sir! Thanks for the review
Fantastic, comprehensive, technical and life-style review. Only, I’m an airline pilot… and I wear this very watch to work. :)
Superb and very thorough review!
Glad you liked it!
Great review, I have a sub and GMT LN but this would be s great update to my current GMT 👌🏻
Love this watch i am adding it to my collection. i just wish your video wasn't in 1990s quality lol. I thought my eyes were blurry

I can only assume that there is less demand for the watch here in the UK, but I think it can be a bit random - maybe a bit of good luck.
Best review ever of a watch just added to my collection.. I like the suit matching the watch :)
Glad you liked it!
Spoke to an AD and they said they will call me. I don’t think there is really a wait list right? So how does someone purchase their first piece?
Lol, I just saw a UPS pilot on the plane wearing this very watch ;-)
Nice review..... thank you !
Nice looking watch
"My hourse nibbling in the background " fantastic line
A good review and love the root beer colour, much more than the pepsi, or batman, but just don't like two tone gold bracelets on a tool watch And just dont get me started on Rolex AD's and flipping market - enjoy

I hate it when my horse crunches in the background.
Great watch Ash but for mr the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical is my watch of choice 38mm wind up I have three of them and just keep coming back to them ...
I’ve never owned a Hamilton, but I have often admired their field Watch collection. 38mm is a great size too.
@@TheChapsGuide I think 38mm is a good size even for my wrist at 7 3/4" it helps that the watches are only 7mm thick
Enjoyed this🙂
just purchased this amazing watch looks fantastic in daylight great comments on this gmt had the choice of a bat girl or bat man chose the root beer
Good choice!
What a great video!!!👏🏼👏🏼
Glad you liked it!!
I’ve just added one to my small Rolex collection
Congrats - its an awesome piece (I'm wearing mine now!)
I absolutely love it added to my 16610 submariner and my deep sea James Cameron
I think im going to trade my batman for this rolex rootbeer. I love it. I just wish it had a jubilee band. Thankfully, my wimbledon rose steel DJ 41mm... has a jubilee band.

massiv underrated gmt. 20s are colors, 30s 40s 50s would comes gold and warm colors, and than this peaces would be vintage.
I bought it 2 weeks ago, i love it,
For me it’s most beautiful Rolex watch.
It really is!
Hello how did you get it so quick
Gorgeous.

As a suggestion for a video, why don't you do a video on champagnes and other sparkling wines?
I'm afraid my knowledge is a bit short in that field, but thanks for the suggestion.
Nice watch
I think you need a Sky-Dweller next :)
Way too big for me I’m afraid. You need a big old wrist for that monster

It’s only 40
